I got invited to the beta and I'm playing it on my Xbox, and I just wanted to share my thoughts on the game so to create some hype and also promote a discussion about it. I'm not going to compare Gwent to hearthstone, but I'll just say that for me, Gwent is way more fun than hearthstone. The most noticeable thing you might notice when after a game of Gwent is that there's zero salt, not because of the good heart of the players, but because it's purely based off skill, and EVERY game feels like each player had an equal shot at winning, so in every game, the better player will win - that aspect alone causes much respect amongst the two players.
Another aspect is that the Gwent matches are designed in a way which make the matches themselves super exciting. If you don't know, every match has three rounds, and the person who wins two is the winner. That's why it's so exciting to play the game, because it really feels like every single play counts and it's very noticeable when you've made a mistake or if your opponent has.
Thirdly, games aren't that long, which doesn't make you feel bad if you lose, and even if you do lose, as I said, it's very knowable that the winner deserved it and it didn't come to an RNG win, which removes all salt from the game because the loser knows he didn't deserve to win, and there's always a sense of respect.
I just can't wait for the game to have a ranked system and see really how good I am.
So based on my post and/or your reaction to the game if you played it, what do you think about it and are you looking forward to it, if you haven't played it yet?
To all the HS lovers complainers. Here is a revelation which you're probably too hot-headed to notice - this thread never said ANYTHING bad about hearthstone. Unless you refer to the sentence which says that I personally prefer Gwent over hearthstone, then yes, I completely dissed hearthstone and this is essentially 100% a salt thread (sarcasm). You're just too used to see complain threads that any thread that talks highly of a different game is perceived by you and a HS salt thread. Learn to see, then learn to read, then write something that has something to do with reality. Thank you for reading.
I just read that there is a ranked system, my bad! it's just that I didn't unlock it yet in my game, so I didn't know it was already available. Sorry for the misinformation.

As a student of Game Design, it'll be interesting to see if Gwent, allegedly skill-focused and balanced as it is, manages to reach or surpass the same level of popularity as Hearthstone. It certainly sounds like it'd provide a better basis for a competitive game than Hearthstone. As much as I love the game, it's emphasis on emotional highs and lows delivered through random chance and big, swingy effects doesn't mesh well with a consistent competitive scene in my opinion. It does, however, make for an excellent spectator game, with it's clear, polished visuals and explosive moments, and that's something that even the biggest Esports have problems delivering. I should really try Gwent though, been seeing a lot of content about it crop up lately.
Hearthstone's constractive is so bad right now, and we see some more rng cards in un'goro, i really want to back into old meta where patrons and handlocks hanging around and some math and calculation going on and mind games and if u know what ur doing u ll most likely win but now .... u get me i guess.
Dude ya must be crazy to have let (and think any smart person would let) a 3rd party website have complete control over either you Twitch account or you YouTube account just to get a beta key. That is just plain stupidity!!!!!

Gwent is great! However guys,i recommend waiting for the open beta because all progress will be nullified. That's why i stopped playing it.Go hard all in to it once that happens! ;)
The game really has interesting mechanics but it's really different from Hearthstone. Seems hard to learn though (or maybe it's because I haven't played enough). And like others I don't like to play if I know there will be a reset.
So I'll keep myself to Hearthstone and Duelyst for now.
I'm not going to compare Gwent to hearthstone, but I'll just say that for me, Gwent is way more fun than hearthstone.
That sounds like a comparison to me.
Technically you're right, but the emphasis should be the "for me" part, meaning it's my completely subjective opinion and not an objective comparison trying to prove that it's a better game. It's like someone saying "I prefer pizza over shrimps", it's just his opinion, he's not trying to present a case as to why he's right. :)

Gwent is a cool game, but it has nothing to do with Hearthstone...
It's actually closer to poker than it is to Hearthstone. :)
i signed up for beta still waiting to inv :((

gwent is great, but there will be a wipe when the beta ends. I refrain from playing it much until then.
they will give you a head start with free kegs based on your beta lvl and rank tho
Duelyst and Eternal are definetly best options, both of them just Amazing, especially Duelyst is uniqu, beautiful and deep
Ofc, you can also try
-HEX Shards of Fate (TCG MMO, Dungeons, Coop, Story Missions, you can trade cards with other players)
-Infinity Wars
-SolForge (The Guys behind Magic)
-Elder Scrolls Legend
-Faeria (combing Board Game + TCG)
-ShadowEra (close the old Warcraft TCG)
-Might and Magic Duel of Champions (Was my favourite TCG but its Dead now, amazing mechanics)
omg dude i love you<3
I have a few beta keys in my inbox if anyone gets desperate. Great game! Hopefully it motivates Hearthstone to get better.

Rebound relationships always seem better, at least at first.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
I did play it and yes, it's awesome. After all of HS's bullshit playing Gwent felt like having a nice cold beer after years of camel piss.
