It's that time again where we are starting a search for more moderators. We have a solid group, but we're always looking for more people that like to help out or can contribute to what makes the site great.
What do we like to see in potential Moderators:
A desire to help out, be it with cleaning up spam or taking care of serious rulebreakers or watching for news that might be interesting to post or even helping with posting that news.
Able to be active on the site with some regularity (You only need a few min to check on reports, that's all we ask for at a basic level.)
Being a good judge of right and wrong and having situational awareness (some situations need a ban hammer, but a lot of situations just need a quick warning or a mention).
Ability to stay calm and handle situations with a professional attitude.
Willingness to learn.
Reasonable posting activity on HearthPwn (You don't have to have a 1000 posts, but we need to see what you are like, which we can only judge based on your activity on the site).
Reasonable knowledge of Hearthstone (You don't have to be Rank 1 Legend, just have to know how the game generally works).
Ability to speak English well enough to communicate with other staff and users in a clear and concise way.
To be on Discord or willingness to join Discord (HearthPwn staff uses Discord to communicate with eachother).
Previous moderation experience is a plus, but certainly not necessary
Willingness to have fun while helping out!
That's a lot to ask for! We know, but it's not all that serious. Best advice we can give you is that if you feel like you would like to apply, but aren't sure if you would fit the requirements, to just apply anyway. We can figure out if you are a fit or not and nothing we do is so difficult that you can't learn it if you have the right personality and attitude.
I can't stress that last part enough: personality and attitude is more important than knowledge and ability. We can teach people how to use the moderation tools, but it's very hard to change people's attitude if they are not a good fit for what we look for.
If you want to help out, just apply, and we will figure it out.
So what will you get to do on the site?
Clean up spam
Keep discussions friendly and on topic
Helping during reveal season and events like Blizzcon
Keep track of tournaments and E-sports results
Help look out for news that is interesting to put on the front page
(optional) Help create the news posts or guides on the site
(optional) Help with Fan Creations
Most of these things are the basics of every moderator on every site or channel, but if you are willing to learn and have a knack for things, you can grow and learn more and get more responsibilities.
If that sounds like something you want to do, or want to be involved with, just apply below:
