I would like to ask again for it to be removed. if someone downvotes you, you should be able to see who did it.
I bet that if it was not anon, it would stop as form of trolling.
I'm not going to get into it again, and I know this post in turn will be downvoted and open me up to more trolling. but if it has to be martydom to get this sorted, then so be it.
So here we are again for the 3rd year running.
I just think these people doing the trolling should face some kind of repercussions, other than just having their alt accounts banned (which tbh does nothing, they're not stupid enough to mass-downvote anyone on their main accounts)
I have been on around 3 or 4 extended hiatuses from HS in the past couple of years, and they were all caused by trolls on this website.
Just saying, the ability to anonymously downvote with impunity is a f'ing bad idea.
I know it's like a reddit thing or something, but I don't use reddit.. never have and never will, so I just don't get it.
It's incredibly counter productive to those of us that don't have the ability to fish for upvotes off site, are the ones that suffer because of it.
So with this in mind I have stopped writing creative guides for this site. From now on I'll just upload decks and leave it at that.
Firstly i don't think that you should care if you are downvoted.
Secondly, i cannot see how seeing who downvoted you will prevent the downvote in first place. I mean it would not stop me. In fact i would downvote 3 times as much if people could see that i did it. JAINAISHOT SENDS HIS REGARDS MODAFUCKAS!!!
it's the principle mate. I don't care about the upvotes, I care that people can abuse the system anonymously.
twice last year I had people go into my decks and downvote every single one of them. yes some of the downvotes get removed and the people that did it get banned, but it's clearly not enough. it keeps happening and it's not just me it happens to.
So yeah, I have taken it upon myself to stand up for everyone who is being trolled. If I can take the heat off the other guys, then I feel like I've done something positive.

you're probably right. but it would give me the opportunity to open a dialogue with people, and then gauge what it is that pisses them off so much.
you can't do anything with an anonymous downvote. it certainly doesn't help me be a better deck builder or forum member.
Being able to see who downvoted something opens that person up to harassment from the person they downvoted. Yes, downvote systems can be abused, but if you think that they are you can either report the person you suspect or ask a moderator to look into comments or decks you believe are being targeted.
I'd also just clarify that this post can't be downvoted, so your fears are unfounded there. Only comments and decks can be downvoted - forum posts can only be upvoted.
Also, moved this to Site Feedback, since this isn't about Hearthstone.
then this is obviously fine, but then how do I know this is the case if I can't ask them. I mean the right thing to do is to leave a comment and say "your deck sucks, you should add this card and take this card out" that never happens though.
it's always your sig deck, or every single deck you have made.
you see what I mean? theres a pattern.
I have noticed that your deck will be downvoted if it's close to front page and someone wants to knock you down so their deck gets front page, (this one is extremely common)
A personal attack (someone doesn't like you or doesn't agree with your comment, so they start downvoting your decks, this happens a lot and I've gotten loads of people banned for it)
honestly, true downvotes are not the issue here, it's the anonymous system that allows for it to be taken advantage of.
I actually welcome critique and TBH it's one of the reasons I post stuff, I always ask for advice on stuff. You rarely get any advice though, just down votes (usually around 5 tops on a popular deck, 1 or 2 on ones that were not on front page)
and yeah guys, there is always a high chance that I'm just salty and the votes are genuine, but we have no way of knowing for sure, and as I have been targeted by mass downvotes on more than one occasion, this is where my head goes automatically.
I am definitely feeling more happy now we have been able to talk about this though... I was starting to think I was a dead and no one could see my posts any more.
has taken me 4 days to post something people have replied on :D
Sometimes decklists are killed while still in the cradle, by early downvotes, and then disappearing from the radars of the visibility algorithms: who would care of even opening the page of a deck with a vote of 0 or less?
On the other hand, and this is a suggestion I'm giving to you, as well as to myself, who cares of upvotes anyway?
Ultimately, you build decks for yourself. If they are good, and the community does not care, it's their problem.
And if you really like popularity of an idea, you must provide at least some winrate breakdown and/or ladder achievements.
But if you just build decks with no particular ladder purposes, you are essentially doing it because you like deckbuilding. You like it for yourself, it's your activity, not others', so again, who cares of upvotes anyway?
PS: as for guides, you can provide an essential one at first, highlighting what is special in your deck, nothing more, and improving it with a full guide only later, if upvotes make it worthwhile.
Nah, reactive trolling is more vicious and worse than proactive trolling. At the end of the day you can’t ‘not care’ but petition over and over again for it. This to me is a non issue that has potential to be a small issue if changed.

yeah dude, I try not to care about it and this is the first time I have bitten in a while. you know like you just wake up and go to your computer and see someone has downvoted something it took you all week to accumulate 3 upvotes on. ruined in seconds by some prick.
you need at least 3 to get any notice from anyone, a deck with fewer than 3 upvotes gets lost in the sea of endless netdeck re-uploads and then your effort is wasted.
Now my whole point for posting this is I often start drafting out a story or something to go on a deck, and by the time I'm ready to add it the deck has been downvoted or just had no interest at all due to the sheer volume of stuff around this time of year.
At the end of the day my goal is to create something and have it gain the highest level of notoriety possible, so gain front page and have a kiwi and bacon video made on it pretty much (ha ha)
This has happened to me once and kiwi even deleted the video after he realized it was me :D (his fans probably pestered him as theres a lot of trolls on his discord that actively get downvote groups together, I have seen them talking about it)
It happens like every new expac, I'm one of the first to upload an archetype as I always craft cards on day 1 (I don't hold off for weeks to netdeck) and these decks purposely get downvoted by other people with a similar deck up, so there deck gets the notoriety.
I have kept decks with a zero or minus rating just because the date proves I was first to make something on here.
My entire point here is that if the downvoting wasn't anonymous, some of the abuse of the system would stop and it would leave the genuine downvotes.
I hope this time around people can actually understand my point.
I don't care about genuine downvotes, I actually welcome any kind of positive critique, it's the guys that downvote for reasons other than this, and they do it because it's anon.
I don't think I've ever downvoted anyone's deck, and if I think it could be improved I tell them in the comments.
In case this is your first time on the internet, this type of whiny post will only bring you more trolling because it’s funny. Sorry for the harsh reality, but try to look within to find self-validation, and not let the opinions and actions of anonymous people affect your life. That will never end up well.

LoL, yes. I learned this lesson a long time ago. that's why my post isn't whiney and it's based in fact.
also if it works as bait to oust more of them, so be it.

you're probably right.
I should have some kind of timer on my keyboard that prevents me from posting when I first wake up.
I will realize this was a really bad idea as soon as my meds kick in and swiftly ask a mod to erase it :D

I was hoping for that to sound constructive. Have you ever read up on the “inner critic?” I found it interesting and applicable to myself.

I guess I don't understand why it matters. Do you get special perks or something for having a high amount of upvotes or something?

downvote martyr 2019 :D
I just read that in a Leslie Chow voice and it fits perfectly ... 😂
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
What if people just don't like your deck?
