Seriously I tried for an hour to NOT MAKE A TWITCH ACCOUNT AND ACCESS THIS SITE, for a solid hour, cause I did not do not want and will not ever now use a twitch account I was forced to make just to access this site and talk about a card game. Why? Why was I someone who has 0 interest in Twitch about Twitch or anything or one on Twitch forced to make a Twitch account to access this site?? Why am I being told I now have to ALWAYS log in with my Twitch Information now?? Why am I being bulled into something I have no interest or desire over just to access something I DID have a desire to use?
Why even make a fuss about this? If it is because you do not want to have you personal info all around the web, then just make a dummy mail. From a service perspective the move makes sense as hearthstone avoids a lot of work with maintenance and other stuff related to the accounts
The fuse is, I didn't need to own a twitch account yesterday to access Hearthpwn, I didn't need one a week ago, didn't need one a month ago. Now out the blue I do. I just want to understand why it isn't just an optional thing, why it went from what WAS an optional thing even as recent as yesterday, yesterday it was optional to have a merged account. Today, its Required.
As for those being rude and insulting me over things I don't even care about either one way or the other. TY for being what I consider report able for being at minimum for being off topic and at best what I consider toxic and hateful.
I am just some one who never has cared about Twitch, never took interest in it as a site or streaming as I am not a streamer myself and really never been one to watch Live streams very often if ever at all. Twitch has no use or interest for me, that's not a crime or saying its a bad site, just what it offers I have no use for personally. Going from being able to have the option to merge something I do not have a use for, and being forced to now make an account for something I will never use, because again I am not one to watch Live Streams really at all and am not some one who plans to stream, is frustrating at the least and bullying at best.
I have the right to not be interested in Twitch or what it provides, I have that right. Now to access this Site I had to lose that right, or not access this site it at least seemed in my hour of reading everything that it provided on the merger and while seeing things about how to cancel my Twitch account and what will happen to my Heartpwn account after... No way to simple Bypass the merger.
So unless I Missed the way to skip logging on with Twitch somehow, or misread something in all the Q&A stuff about this merger... I just like to understand why I was forced into this?
Hearthpwn is run by Curse, and Curse was acquired by Twitch. As such, they have made the transition from regular site-specific authentication to using Twitch's authentication system. This is because it is much more streamlined and secure iirc. It has been in progress slowly over the past year, and today it has finally become 100% mandatory to log in with Twitch.
You do not have to actually use Twitch.tv by any means, but in order to continue logging in to Curse community sites you will now need this.
You don't need a twitch-account to access the website, you only need one when you login to this site. And they already said 2 MONTHS ago WITH GIGANTIC PURPLE BARS that they will merge twitch-accounts with hearthpwn-accounts. So yes, you had enough time, and now you need to have a twitch-account, simply because it's much easier to handle 1 database rather than 2; and like said above it also takes less maintenance.
Sorry, but what does it matter? The owner (twitch) already have access to your account here, and you don't need to go to twitch ever. The only thing that changes is that it's simply now login with twitch. As far as i know you don't need to add more than you would need to create an account here. Ok, maybe except the age, but i think it's required here too.

Sorry I wasn't sure where this fit best ty for the move.
You also answered my question at least as best as an answer as I can expect. Like I said its not like a giant thing, but did catch me very much off guard and is indeed frustrating a bit. I don't come on her a ton to post and stuff just use some net decking and recently post a few deck theories hoping to get some advice on them at least, so I probably either just didn't pay attention to the warnings if they popped up for me at some point or just over looked them or merely since again Twitch just hasn't really been something I've had interest in stick in my brain.
I still do stand by the fact this does feel a bit like bullying if you were not a Twitch person before. But even if they could of just left it was it was Twitch buying it I guess just does kind of make it more effective just to have people make and merge.
Again just incase any more rude people show up: I have no real issue with Twitch itself, its just never as a person offered anything that really personally interested me over all.
Reluctance is understandable, however such a decision is made in the best interest of security and functionality. It is unfortunate that some existing members will be off-put by the merge and/or refuse to comply, however there's no possibility of negotiating this.
If you choose to no longer log in to HearthPwn that is entirely up to you. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Sorry, my comment shouldn't be rude, but really, they were a lot of warnings, and really, they are very visible and i was so often annoyed because i needed to click them away again and again that i really don't completely believe you never read them.
And yes, i can understand that some people are annoyed of it. But in the end it doesn't really matter, the only difference is that since twitch bought curse it was inevitable that twitch and curse merge their databases. Because they are 2 really big ones, and keeping that it is now only cost unnecessary money just for the sake of keeping them apart.
If it is because you do not want to have you personal info all around the web, then just make a dummy mail.
In the end he can simply use the same e-mail, since twitch has already access to the curse-database. So it really doesn't matter if you use the same e-mail or a new one.
Just so we're clear here, back in March we added Twitch accounts to HearthPwn as an optional feature for people who wanted to have one login between the services and take advantage of the better login system. http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/2284-twitch-accounts-come-to-hearthpwn
Slightly over a month ago, we had a post on the front page for a few days that let everyone know about merges becoming mandatory as we wanted to get rid of our Curse Authentication system not only because it's a lot of resources to maintain two auth systems, but also because the Twitch system is a huge improvement. Cool fact: as of a month ago, 88% of Curse users are logging in with Twitch, a number that is even higher now! http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/3825-upcoming-changes-to-hearthpwn-accounts-community
We also had a banner that displayed at the top of the site and required users to acknowledge this was taking place. It's not like we tried to hide these merges, we've been pretty upfront about it!
Ultimately this is a good thing for the site and for everyone that uses it. Your HearthPwn account already had network wide access to all Curse sites, this merging just adds another site to the list that your account is able to access, and it comes with more security features such as 2-factor authentication. We're not forcing you to use Twitch, though we will redirect you there to manage your password, just as we've never forced anyone to use any of our other gaming sites on the network - the option simply exists!
TL;DR:
Better account security
Faster user support
Easier logins
We use less resources to manage the auth system
You gain optional access to 1 additional site in the network
PS. I recommend not using a dummy email account for your Twitch login. If you lose access to the account I can't guarantee we'll be able to help you restore access to your account should you need it.

Well, this is a private website, and the owner has the right to do anything he wants, i guess...
