When you made an account for hearthpwn, you already made an account for very different sites, a curse account works on a vast amount of sites, that account will just be the twitch account instead of the curse account now.
Curse Auth is going away, which is why it’s not an optional switch.
To help Molster with this, although I think people should know by now, some examples of other websites like Heathpwn are Muthead and Futhead. The account on those websites (if it's the same as your hearthpwn one) will automatically merge with Twitch I believe. I think all websites like hearthpwn are doing this, might be wrong though.
For now, the importance is to know why it happens and know when folks are lying by proving them wrong. I fundamentally believe what Molster says and thus' I have my answer alongside a bit of research I now also know that Curse and Twitch have already joined together... which is a bit funny that we're talking about this subject since Twitch was bought out by YouTube which was bought out by Google.
Wait, When did Youtube/Google buy Twitch? I thought Twitch had been bought by Amazon... Hence all the Amazon/Twitch Prime benefits.
My twitch account was actually deleted for inactivity and user name is unavailable, and I don't feel like creating new one (no idea how to name it)
I'm not sure if it will help, but maybe Twitch Support can do something about it. If you're talking about this exact name you have on your account, it seems like no one is actively using it on Twitch so maybe it's stuck in limbo. https://help.twitch.tv/ https://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/emails/new
Actually I have a question. I've used Twitch a lot in the past, but currently I have been away from it for over a year and don't intend to use it regularly. I have my account linked and such, that is not my issue. What I am wondering is if we are forced to go to the Twitch site to keep our accounts from being deleted due to innactivity. I logged in recently to get the Golden Pack and such, but I don't know when I will access the Twitch site next. Am I at risk of getting my account deleted if I don't utilize the account on Twitch or is activity here on Hearthpwn enough to keep me from getting deleted?
I doubt you are, personally. I don't think Twitch deletes accounts that are utilized with other websites. They might, but I think, as you said, if you are active here enough, they might not remove your account. Just try to visit a few twitch streams every now and then, let's say once a week for about 30 minutes or more. That won't get your account removed.
Well goodbye hearthpwn I guess. I am not gonna make an account on a site I will never use. I can still read forums etc without an account right?
That is sad! I merged Twitch with everything, and did not think twice about it. I try to keep facebook and my main personal social media and email account away from my gaming world, though.
Gmail and facebook also lets you use their login in a number of different sites, and I find it practical more than anything else. I would be more worried about the "big business see you" aspect if you log into an airline company with facebook.
I signed up for Heartpwn, I like this site and it's content. What would possible be my interest in joining up with twitch?
Giving my data to them and their advertisement campaigns. If this was an optional feature I would aplaude it but to force users into stepping onto another platform is a verly low thing to do.
This! I agree 100%!
I don't have a twitch account and never used/visted this site. I'm using exactly one Curse site. I have to think if I will create one of this forced accounts or just go read only or even leave your site...
Nevertheless this is complete bullshit!
This!
This!
Forced bullshit. Probably I will still be around, just will switch to read only. The biggest issue for me here - I won't be able to post at 80g-quest topic. But, well, I'm okay with this fact.
Still it's really low thing to take away from users right to be a part of HearthPwn if they are against this forced manipulation.

Interesting, I find the social media integration with Facebook and the likes useless, but granted I don't like social media sites. On the other hand, I do use my ID across everything since I don't see the point in having multiple identities, both in social media and gaming world. I think it is so much better to have my ID be the same specially across the gaming world. If people from certain games I play on say, Blizzard go and play on say, Sony's network, they find me and know it's me already. I think it's good to have everything under the same name and such, at least, if you happen to be a serious person who doesn't intend to use their accounts for nefarious actions because, obviously, in those cases you are going to be caught faster.
if you guys don't know what he means by nefarious actions, he means scammers. I've witnessed scamming for 3 years now in a community I am currently an outsider to. Not gonna go deep into the topic cause then it's off topic xD.
Anyhow, I disauthenticated my twitch from my facebook because it was the wrong account and I never use my facebook unless it's instagram posts, not twitter posts, cause on twitter, I'm more "extreme". So the only accounts I have my twitch authenticated with are Muthead (which I never use anymore after someone scammed on my IP address on December 31, 2016. Muthead is also another Curse website and is doing the same merger thing as Hearthpwn), Hearthpwn, PlayStation, Blizzard, Twitter, Discord, XSplit (a streaming service), and Elgato (a recording and streaming item that is used to record on Xbox, Wii, and PlayStation games). I'm on Twitch every day which say something about the life I have xD.

I assume most people who are against merging have no interest in using twitch at all. Imagine if instead of twitch/amazon this site was bought by facebook, a facebook merge was demanded and many people never even used facebook. For some this might be convenient, others will see it as facebook holding our accounts hostage and demanding the creation of a facebook account as a ransom. I'm just trying to illustrate why some people are less than enthusiastic about this.
Now if anyone knows, will we be able to reclaim our accounts after December 20.? Lets say that one year from now I want to go back to hearthpwn. Will I be able to create a throwaway twitch account and rejoin?
no accounts are getting deleted, ever. Just after the 20th, youll have to link a twitch account in order to login to said account, but it will always be here, waiting.
For those saying they dont want a twitch account cause they have no need for one, while I do understand, please keep in mind that this is no different than now. We are using a Curse account, which has many many sites that you probably dont even know about. This will be the exact same once its switched to twitch instead of a Curse account.
So I got an idea, if someone would log in now with the current system and was to remain logged in for a very long time by intentionally not deleting cookies for the sites that are undergoing this merge, would he stay logged in even after the authorization system changes? or is the system going to force the user to log out in order to log back in again through twich?

I would not count on this working for long. I recommend merging and being done with it :)
Perhaps Twitch could offer to ease the transition by giving out some of those golden packs in lottery to Hearthpwn members. If they had offered 1000 at random, 99% users on this site would have signed up as soon as it was announced. Seriously, it's just a login provider. It is not uncommon at all for sites to use a 3rd party account to log in. Just make an account and write the name and password down on your handy sheet of usernames and passwords in your top desk drawer - moving on.
