I personally feel this should be looked at in terms of what it means and how it functions. The scenario that I constantly run into is that typically I don't want to search for all decks in a single "Patch". What I want is to find relevant decks starting from a certain point. So for instance if I choose Gadgetzan, I am not really looking for Gadgetzan decks ONLY in that patch but instead all decks from that point forward because I feel that are relevant.
The new "Aggro downfall" patch made this issue even more glaring because if I search "Gadgetzan" I will be missing out on all the newest "Aggro downfall" decks but if i specially search for "Aggro downfall" I will be missing out on all the "Gadgetzan" decks. In reality though the "Agrro downfall" decks are mostly just a subset of "Gadgetzan" that got a few tweaks. The decks from both the patch levels are really still relevant in most cases.
I am not sure if the global solution is to allow for multiple patch filtering or changing how the existing patch filter functions, but for me I would want to have more of a start patch to current patch type filter.
Thanks for the feedback, raydawg2069. Our filtering based on dates definitely doesn't cover every use case but due to us only updating the patch on the site when there is actual balance changes I do believe makes it pretty good.
A few things we could do (not promising anything right now!)
Add a way to sort by expansion (each patch from an expansion would be included)
A way to sort through a date range
As you've said, patch to patch.
Patch being allowed to have multiple choices.
I don't know what exactly would be possible as far as the backend is concerned, and it would certainly be up to discussion among the team, but we definitely could make the deck search page more powerful by giving everyone more tools to find the decks they want. I can't make promises right now though, we have a lot of things we want to do with the site, but do know this request has been noted.
Thanks for that. If possible, the idea of filtering based on expansion does sound pretty good since each expansion could have multiple patches associated with it. As you mentioned though, it depends on the backend support and whether that relationship exists or not. Either way, glad to know something is being considered for this issue.
I think it would be cool if searching an expansion shows everything happening within its timeline (For instance, Gadgetzan would include Aggro Downfall, but Aggro Downfall wouldn't include Gadgetzan.) I think this would be best because then you can search for the ENTIRE expansion or search for certain 'milestones.'
See, searching Aggro Downfall means you want relevant decks to the current ones. However, searching Gadgetzan would/should include new AND older decks for the 'primary' patch. Let's say that Un'Goro ends up like this:
Searching Un'Goro Launch (A) would include A, B, C, and E. D and F refer to set rotation/gamemodes which are different parameters, and are therefore not included in relation to the current topic. Searching for Buffs (C) would only include C, as you are looking for a specific timeframe rather than the set as a whole. I also think there should be something like (Ao) that explicitly shows the Launch (Ao = A, Original [Another possibility could be Ad {A, Direct} or Ar {A, Refined}])

I am just said to see the "Test" deck removed. Had some pretty good chuckles reading through the comments...

btw, wtf with decks n homepage? literally every deck which contains un'goros cards on front page, no matter which rating it has
