Honestly, Battleforge..not a widely known game but it was soooo good at the time. I just loved the concept of a rts game mixed with tcg elements, the art, the music, the animations, the environments were all top notch. Sadly EA got rid of it after a few beautiful years.
Never heard of it... But tell me something else about it, I wanna know! :)
It was developed by EA Phenomics, a (very talented) little german studio, you basically collected 'cards' from booster packs or from the auction house, you made a deck of 20 cards (you could play with less but there was no point really) and went on to complete missions (1-2-4 or 12 player maps) or pvp (1v1 or 2v2).
Unreal (1998) That game gave me an unforgettable experience. It had such an unique otherworldy feeling. The ambience and music was amazing. I still remember playing that game during the nights in weekends. Exploring ancient temples and alien landscapes. hearing the wind blow through ominous valleys and buildings, hearing the water streaming in rivers around you, and seeing the low hanging clouds─partly obscuring the sun/moon and the stars─ passing over you gave me shivers all the time.
Quake 1/Quake 2 (1996/1997) Two games that will always have a special place in my heart. Action-packed singleplayer, but it was especially the long multiplayer nights with friends that I'll always remember.
I don't have a single one, I have a group of games that all take that spot for me:
Dark & Demon's Souls
God of War Trilogy (I count these three as one, I don't think they should be played separately)
Resident Evil Remake (1) & 4
Shadow of the Colossus
The Last of Us (only the first, Part 2 is not good.)
Edit: There is a lot of games that aren't my favorites that I really love, that I would highly recommend, from a lot of platforms, but these are just the most compelling for me.
- I bought my first PC in 2000. to play Age of Empires 2, after my friend was talking a lot about some castles, knights, catapults... Me and bunch of my friends are playing the game almost every Friday starting from 2013. I'm a bit tired of it, but can't say "no" to my friends. Yeah, it must be the best game ever for me. I favored realistic games as a kid, so another favorite RTS was Cossacks, imbalanced mess, but so fun. :D
- I spent thousands of hours mastering Civilization IV. Learning countless little tricks and exploitation to beat games on higher levels felt so rewarding. Civ IV is the only masterpiece Civ game; sad most people don't realize it. Others are either obsolete or dumbed down.
- Commandos and Desperados, practically the only 2 games of this great genre. :(
- City building series from Sierra: bugged Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Zeus, RotMK... and Tropico 1
- Of course, I played generally well-known games like CS 1.6, Diablo 2, Half Life 2, War 3... WoW, DoTA and LoL, not that much.
- Some other older games that are maybe not that great, but I enjoyed them nevertheless: Deus Ex, Wizardry 8, Disciples 2, IL-2 Sturmovik, Rome TW, Thief 1, Serious Sam 1, Monkey Island 1, GUN, SoF, Kingpin, Quake 3, UT, Far Cry 1, Stronghold 1 and Crusaders... ok, the list would never end...
Never played Desperados, but played all Commandos games! ;)
Guys honestly I never thought I'd say that but I ended up playing hearthstone for 8 consecutive years so far, it might be my favorite game tbh
Game has obviously a very special charm too, I think no one can deny that. :) But you have been playing it for 6 consecutive years so far, not 8 (or 7 if for some reason you played the alpha version). :P

Thank you for your time too, I really appreciate it! Looks interesting to be honest! ;)

Pokemon Yellow... Almost forgot about it too! XD
Why is the game called "Dishonored"? (Don't have time to read all the plot on Wikipedia :P)
Can't recognize that game... :/
Don't worry, I perfectly understand. It was super hard for me to choose only one. :P
Love Santa Monica Studio! ;)
Never played Desperados, but played all Commandos games! ;)
The first JRPG I played was Final Fantasy VII. So yeah, love that game (and the remake XD).
When I was a kid I was obsessed with the Resident Evil saga, LOL! XD
Playing Left 4 Dead on hardest difficulty with some friends was a blast! :)
