Somehow I got my Twitch account stolen, and as a result, my local account too. It's annoyance at most, I did not have any money at it, so nothing was lost, other than that I had my preferences set for the account. Filed the ticket, but it's a dead end, because haven't connected my phone number to it.
Is there any practical reason to stel such useless accounts though? And I'm worried about the way they got the data for the account. Could it be through the innkeeper app?
Normaly he need your E-Mail account to change your password and steal your accout? Do you still have access to your Emails? Then you could change your twitch passwort and your Email Passwort what should fix the problem. If you have used the same Password on other Platforms, change these too.
As stated above, you should not use the same pw for many accounts. Use lastpass or a different pw manager. Most important is to properly secure your email account since that is used to reset your password in most cases.
Strangely enough - no. They just switched the e-mail somehow. They should not have access to e-mail, that is since I have notification for my phone for unusual places, and well, there were none.
But yeah, I have been "breached" once. God knows what password i used back then, and if they were corresponding with Twitch account.
Are you fully locked out? I had my account compromised a couple months ago. They subbed my Twitch Prime, but that was pretty much it. I was able to get on almost immediately and set up 2 part authentication plus a new passcode. They tried to get in a few times until they realized they couldn’t.
Twitch was zero help. They didn’t even respond to my trouble ticket for 3 weeks. When they did it was just to say that I’d taken the correct steps. They said I’d get a sub to replace the stolen one but I did not.
I'm suspicious of that website. I typed in my email that I only use for professional purposes on reputable sites and it said 8 breaches. I tried my email that I use for porn and dubious sweepstakes and it said 0 breaches.

Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
They usually use those Twitch accounts to send spam-whispers to people with malicious links. Since there are rules around how long an account must exist before it can send a bunch of whispers. If you get your account restored only to find out that it was suspended for violating the Twitch TOS, is was probably used as a spam-bot.

You can use this service and it tells you if your account was leaked in a password database including which services.
