Diablo on mobile is a good choice in terms of profit as mobile games make a shit ton of money. The problem was they were marketing a huge new announcement and ppl were thinking new Diablo for PC which of course was a huge letdown. The whole Blizzcon was a letdown aside the HS new exp reveal. DId u guys notice how ppl giggled when they start mentioning Destiny 2 as a way to promote Battlenet having new games aside from Blizzard ones? then the microphone problem...
And then the huge new announcement was "just" Diablo for mobiles and all of those hardcore fans were in shock, that room was filled with a deafening silence.
They did not made shit, they basically went into partnership with Chinese company called NetEase, famous for printing new mobile game every month and letting it die, to let them re-skin NetEase existing game Crusaders of Light, to look like Diablo game and they are trying to sell that crap. That game is well known for pay 2 win and Diablo:Immortal will be no different. Classic cash grab.
Blizzard is so huge, that they ought to be able to focus little more on making the best content instead of profit... I can see it can be viewed as naive to imagine a company doing that, but imho that how Blizzard used to be, when they cared more about quality. Let others do they mobile games and be content with the huge game market they already have... So greedy, I find it hard to view it another way..
All the salt that is going on about Diablo Immortal was because Blizzard had hyped something new for the franchise for six month after a silence of two years. Everyone would have expected a new DLC with more content and a new Class or at last a Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction Remastered edition (like they did for Warcraft 3).
Instead they've shown at an audience of people that are mostly PC gamers a mobile game and nothing more. They could had just announced Immortal along side with some new things for Diablo 3 and everyone would have been at last not so burned.
It was such a bad move that they've bringed Hell on themselves (pun intended).

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

You clearly don't understand capitalism. At this stage, like all corporations, their product isn't what they sell, but valuation of their stock. If a bad game makes money, they sell it. Look at the movie industry - why make something new when you can remake Halloween and not risk a loss? Risk is the biggest factor, and even a terrible product will turn a profit if production costs are low and it is from an established franchise.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

I understand all too well.. why I also wrote that I can be viewed as naive, but its a sad world...
I love how people KNOW that the game will be a pay to win cashgrab, or will have terrible gameplay, or will be bad overall. I love how people are certain of this off of one short video.
The game may be bad, or it may be good. Let's just wait and see.

I know I am not going to be playing a mobile ARPG, which means no Diablo for me. Salty because Diablo 1 and 2 are both in my top 3 games ever created.
Diablo needs to stray away from this colourful, cartoony BS and get back to its hardcore, grim, and disturbing roots like the first two games.
will this ever happen? Likely not. It seems that Blizzard doesn’t really care about the hardcore diablo fans and would rather open up to a larger (more kid friendly) market - which makes sense for profit, but that’s about it.
As a kid playing Diablo 2 late at night that was the best experience playing a gory game with friends that freaked me the f#*! out!
Those were the good old days that we may never see again with the diablo franchise. Which is extremely sad but that’s how the cookie crumbles.
Do you guys think that blizzard will ever go back to their Diablo roots?
It says something about Diablo, that when the demo was released me and my friends played it over and over again with the butcher as the boss :) . Now it seems ridiculously the amount of time we used on a demo.
Also Diablo was the first game, that I know of, where people started to make challenges with rules to make the game harder like the ironman challenge.
For many people age 30+ this franchise has so much history,.. And we (or most of us) don't see a phone as the device it should be played on.

its a mobile game, u are meant to play it one a tablet or god help me on a phone. an action rpg in a tiny screen with ur fingertips cluttering the screen. lol who cares if its the greatest game in existence if i have to wear a magnifying glass to play it?
PC gamers are known to have multiple screens or at least a big screen (AKA at least 24 inches) and now they are using this target audience to play a game on a tiny screen that will have endless microtransactions?
When the original diablo games were released we had 14 inch screens and 640x480 resolution and we LOVED it. I don't expect a phone or a tablet screen being a problem.
I am very sad that they are not making another Diablo dor PC, or at least remastering DII (which i hoped for), but i wont hate the mobile game before i even see it.
As a long time Diablo player and fanboy there's really not much to say.
ARPGs are one of my favorite genre of games, the playstyles, the stories, the theory crafting. I have tried numerous mobile RPGs as I travel alot and they are not the same as any of their PC counterparts. I wouldn't even call them ARPGs tbh.
The game play is utterly lacking, there's next to no immersion if any, and they all have one major thing in common - cash grab, ads or both.
Players are fine with a mobile filler game that's a blatant copy of an already existing game... If, IF, it were a support release that coincwided with a proper full AAA game. This is corporate greed stifling creativity, quality and going straight for the wallet. Which is sad, because blizzard fans were ready to burn their hard earned money on something good, anyways. Instead blizzard released crap and still expect everyone to pay AAA prices for a mobile ripoff.
We need more good Devs going with indie productions. Unfortunately EA/Actiblizz are becoming if not are already the WMs of the gaming world.
You guys forgot to mention the best part about this juicy drama :)
The "new" diablo game is literally a reskin of a mobile game that netease (the Chinese company Blizz outsourced to make it) had already created called Crusaders of Light, which is notoriously microtransactiony and pay2win
Oh, also Blizzard went full EA on the playerbase when they protested
The trailer on youtube was massively downvote to the point of breaking records so Blizzard uploaded an new unlisted version of the trailer and re-linked their battlenet launcher to that instead
300k downvotes later, about a third of them mysteriously disappeared. Some users reported that their downvotes got removed
The youtube comments were full of angry Diablo fans so they started deleting every highly upvoted negative post
One highly upvoted post got deleted something like 10 times. The comments section fought back by copying said post and spammed it with their own accounts
Some kind of auto deleting filter was created for these posts specifically. People then got creative and starting using different symbols and formatting to evade the filters
They removed their VODs of the Q&A sessions that looked bad (There were some "pride and accomplishment" tier responses and people booed the devs). Even Virtual ticket holders can't watch the hilarity now without seeking them out on twitch or something instead
Other than Hearthstone I love to play the Diablo games on my PC...
Now I can't wonder, if the money I spend on Hearthstone along with so many others, have made Blizzard wanting to have more games on mobile..
I am salty, tbh. I did not have the imagination that a Diablo project could be a mobile game. :(
that's not sad that they made Diablo Mobile,
the salt is about that that's the copy of diablo 3 with some new content and
MEGA SALT
is for that blizzard know that fans want d4 or d2 remastered but they got s... mobile game xD
Worst pr blizzcon ever. Total disaster.

I just don't get playing games, watching videos, or web pages on phones. The screen is tiny and touch interface is basically garbage.

It is such a joke to all Diablo fans ... At least, they should have announced the mobile game with a new pc game announcement like Bethesda did ...

AH NO THANK YOU
I never played the game though I am legitimately thinking of buying a switch and starting from the eternal collection.
So you thought only Mage had an exodia combo eh
