Just in case anyone is wanting a change of pace from Hearthstone, I've been playing a game called Eternal for a while now. It's pretty fun! It has quite a lot of keywords which are pretty interesting, but the best part is that you can actively defend when it's your opponent's turn. If you choose to try it out, you can use this referral link:
Edit: The game has just gone into full release, and it has a new expansion launching in about two weeks. If you choose to try it out, I can give you some pointers to help you get started.
Regarding Eternal, it is quite fun, I have to admit. Have been playing that game practically non stop for about 5 days now. I personally liked it far more than MTGA (and thats coming from some guy who had been playing Magic for years some time back, attendings about 5 prereleases and some drafts) - the foremost reason being the economy, I suppose. While I have a hard time in MTGA to attend events, it is quite easy in Eternal - since the Events are actually rewarding!
Take the League Reunion. It costs 12,5k to enter (a booster costs 1k), and gives you, in total at the end of the month, at the very least 18 booster! thats 18k value for 12,5k at the very least - and it is practially a sealed (you get a specific amount of packs you open, and you need to build your deck using these cards).
If you have experience with MTG, it is pretty easy to pick up. Did go 7-1 in my first Draft (ends at 7 wins or 3 losses), giving me ~1k + 3 packs + cards I opened surplus (event costs 5k, with 7 wins you get around 6k gold, ...). The best part - there is a AI focused part. So if you want to simply roll out a new deck, if you aren't able to respond instantly because you are doing something else in between (or waiting for something), you can simply leave the game open - the Gauntlets and Forge have no time limit.
Ranged and Casual are pretty rewarding as well. The only gripe I would have, would be, that legendaries are both extremly hard to get and partly so overpowered, that they can break the game. Still fun as hell, though :D
Eternal is great and all, but the first Eternal thread had not even fallen off the front page of the "other games" section yet. No need to make a new one
10/10 game, would recommend. Better gameplay, sounds and visuals than both HS and the new MTG:A. I'd post my referral link but I already got my Nictotraxian and draft tickets :P
If i want to play an esquelike Magic card game i just play MTG Arena which i have nonstop since its open beta launch a week ago. HS only for daily quests hoarding that sweet gold for next Exp HOPING they end this never before seen POLARIZATION in the game on matchups.
eternal is good but like i said just go MTG instead

Not the same Eternal that I tried O_o
I still play, but very little. The sounds are okay but the visuals are not as good as Hearthstone or Magic: Arena. I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I do agree with another post that said the economy is quite rewarding; especially when compared to HS.
Quite a few threads and posts about other card games at the moment. It'll probably get even crazier once Artifact releases. Hopefully Blizzard takes notices and steps their game up. I don't think any of these games will overtake HS, but I feel that they'll certainly make a dent in HS's profits.

The visuals are trash, idk what that guy is smoking if he thinks it looks better than mtga

I'd rate Eternal's visuals about equal to HS. The only thing that doesn't look nice are the golden cards that no one uses
As for MTGA, I think it looks extremely mediocre. I guess they were going for maximizing the classic nostalgia vibes by making the cards look like simple polished versions of the non-digital cards. I'm personally not a fan of that. I'd much rather they try modernize it or something

You are completely correct about the visuals. It's generally pretty cool in terms of animations, but the "premium" cards (aka golden versions) are really not anything to look at. I feel no qualms at all disenchanting them.
Refreshing this, due to Eternal going into full release and preparing to release a new expansion in about 2-3 weeks. Again, anyone who tries it out can message me to get some pointers and tips for getting started. There are at least 6 distinct game modes, which are all fairly different from each other ... it's a complex and engaging game and definitely worth trying.
