Ok so I abandoned HS arround 2 months ago. That is why I felt like answering your question. Started playing MTGA because, as a kid, it was my favourite thing, EVER. Obviously, I voted for MTGA on your poll. Why? First of all, MTG lore is AMAZING. I really love it, Art Books, novels (they are not that good, but the lore is awesome), card art, etc. I am waiting for the next expansion (War of the Spark) like Christmas. Its like an Avengers: Endgame story actually.
One question - and I mean it seriously. Why are you on a forum for a game you abandoned??

Because I don't see any law saying that I can't or shouldn't

No problem, just... why?
The HS comunity is quite good. Specially compared to several other games. Nevertheless I do engage in far less content and topics than I used to. It is a game I played for three years in a row on almost a daily basis. I do not throw everything down the toilet just like that. You could see it as a "checking how things are going". I could just pick it up again if new cool things are offered. Is it wrong?
Although I think MtG:A is a good game, the 2nd best, I uninstalled it in December because:
- I barely have time and will to play even HS.
- HS is more shiny, charming, lighthearted. Idiotic characters... UI... MtG:A lore and style I just don't like.
- Faster sets publishing, a lot of cards, but: 90% of cards are laughable garbage and other 10% are obviously beyond OP. Only those see play. Card differences: common - 5 mana 3/4, no effect; rare - 5 mana 7/7, 2 effects.
- Convoluted card texts.
- Wildcards, no dust system... I just don't like. It would work if majority of cards aren't garbage. In HS rarity doesn't equal quality, one just needs all rarities proportionally to build decks. Sometimes it can look the same, but at least it's not boring.
- You usually need 4 copies of the same (expensive) card in your deck because of consistency. 60 / 4 = 15 single cards. HS is 15 in 30. MtG:A feels so much more like spamming the same shit all over again, which is lame.
- Opening useless commons and unneeded rare duplicates sucks more then waiting 40 packs for Dustfallen Aviana, I guess...
- MtG:A punishes you if you attack and play cards. There are several cards that destroy your attacking minions. "Some" decks consists only of cards which destroy every card your opponent plays.
- Milling your existing hand is more brutal than milling your deck.
- So, the main keywords for any deck: discard, destroy a minion as cheap, as broken as possible, counter a card. Every meta deck works only in this way.
- Snowballing in this game is insane.
- Lands...
---------
HS economy isn't much better than the MtG:A's, but still is, for 15-20%. Dust system helps the most. Gifts. One vs. four legendaries. Rarity system. More cheap, easy to craft, meta decks. Free limited format.
When arguing for superiority of MtG:A gameplay, people mention: different minion blocking system and ability to play on opponent's turn. That's true, although I hate secrets in HS and still can't believe they exist. MtG:A cards are 90% without innate RNG, which is really good.
Overall, it still isn't that great difference between both games regarding skill required. Even MtG:A games very often look cheap, luck dependent, especially when your draw screws you... (as it is with all card games, which I don't even argue in this post, the same is with net decking, staleness...). If difference between good and bad players in HS is in 10% winrate difference, MtG:A is 17% at best. There are more and less complex plays in both games.
HS counters MtG:A in a more arithmetic kind of gameplay.

I choose MTG over HS eventough both games are a blast. Card art in MTG is far superior.
But the art design in the whole HS game is far superior overall. The music, the animations, effects, aesthetics, etc. are incredibly well done in HS. Top Tier. Ask any game designer. Videogame Artwise, HS by a longshot. Even more on mobile.

Fair enough, personal tastes are well... personal ;p

Why people are bringing this false statement all the time...The only rarity that matters in MTGA is rare (epic in terms of hs) because the best cards(shocklands) are in this category. The majority of playable cards are uncommons (rare in hs terms) and most of the mythics are either carbage or one of in most decks with some notable exceptions. In a pack you get at least 1 rare/mythic, 2 uncommons and 5 commons and for every 6 packs you get a rare wilcard for free. At the moment i have 10 mythic, 0 rare, 55 uncommons and 43 common wildcards just to make mypoint.

And that necessary because answers are plently in the game which is great!
- Opening useless commons and unneeded rare duplicates sucks more then waiting 40 packs for Dustfallen Aviana, I guess...
Again the bulk of the game are uncommon and rare cards not mythics like in hs. Evem smorc decks in hs are much more expesine now.
- MtG:A punishes you if you attack and play cards. There are several cards that destroy your attacking minions. "Some" decks consists only of cards which destroy every card your opponent plays.
No MtG:A punishes you for not timing your attacks and plays and in my opinion it does not punish you enough after the lastest expansion in which it gave smorcers more fuel.
- Milling your existing hand is more brutal than milling your deck.
Disrupting hands can be easily countered with...counterspells :P. But i am biased because my favourite combination (grixis) relies on this mechanic, so yeah you might be right but still...BOW DOWN TO THE GOD PHARAOH PLEB!! >:D

True, true but hs has the same issues in greater severity

No, no, no, no. In 4 months i have almost all meta decks with only the welcoming bundle bought. in hs, it took me 6 months to craft the demon handlock (gvg era). If are a good player and manage your time and resources correctly , you can snowball your collection in ridiculous rates. Hs does not allow you that even with arena.

I disagree completely with the bolded parts and agree completely with the rest. Your statements are true only with some decks like mono colour smorc, esper control (aka i am an idiot but i dont like aggro/ control warrior of magic zzz) and highroll decks like gates. Which are a lot i will admit but nowhere near enough the hs levels. Especially before the last expansion i could easily hold around 65% win ratio without trying to counter the meta and could push it to when 75% trying to. The better player will win more in mtga than in hs,

As someone who hates seeing people in this forum congratulate others for whatever stupid shit they achieve while playing Hearthstone, I feel a deep urge to congratulate you as fast as I can for such an accomplishment in a game that's really worth the time invested. :)
I played MTG back in the 90s in physical form, and heard that the online version sucked, so I never tried it. I came to HS on the suggestion of couple friends and have enjoyed it, though it always felt like a much shallower/simpler game than MTG.
When MTGA arrived in beta, I thought I'd give it try, and found that the games just took way too long compared to HS and (now that I'm old, have a busy job and kids) I don't have time to commit games that regularly take 20 minutes. I also play a lot on mobile (e.g., on my commute), and can't do that in MTGA.
So while I still do think MTG is a better, deeper and more complex game, I prefer HS because I can squeeze in a few games every day to get my daily quests without a problem.
One think I will say about MTGA is that, while I haven't crunched the numbers, the pack opening feels way more satisfying because of the number of cards per pack, the wildcards and the guaranteed rarity slot in each pack.

After watching the latest trailer I can say one thing - It is so sad that Hearthstone went away from WoW lores into a childish and stupid themes like that's joke DR.Boom. Yes, theme is not the most important part for me, but it is not irrelevant

MTGA games can be very fast if you either play monored aggro or against monored aggro. Right now I grind 15 wins per day with monored aggro for the rewards and the games are usually decided after few turns.. (just as fast as in HS, or even faster tbh).
EDIT: Yea it sucks that there is no mobile version of MTGA but tbh a mobile one would be pretty crap or hard to really be playable, for example the number of minions on your board in HS is limited to 7, in MTGA it isnt. Boards full of tokens etc made me missclick quite a few times in MTGA.. not to mention the attacking/blocking phases, imagine that on mobile.. jeez! :D

I actually am very glad they did this. I like the aesthetic. Frankly the established WoW lore has gotten trite and recycled to me. One of the big reasons I stopped playing was what I considered to be a terrible job at working the lore. Characters are going against their established beliefs, bad guys are recycled over and over, and frankly I'm glad HS decided to go their own way and make their own lore.

The goal of all life is death.
