I'm causally playing the game for several days. It's okay. Mechanics are alright. Presentation as well.
What does turn me off is lore. Cold generic fantasy mess.
I will not spend a dime on the game, but just play casually, on low ranks / drafts, or get a competitive deck or two on the way.
I hear the economy is expensive, no friends, no spectating, not getting rid of rotated cards... a lot of issues. Devs seem too ambitious, in an inflated way.
It's 20% less dumb then HS. Generating those Lands, while interesting and deep, is quite RNG and usually steals you the win. On the other hand, HS has lore, power of simplicity and unsurpassable presentation.
"Cold generic fantasy mess" excuse me is that not the same thing as Warcraft lore? I happen to like the lore of both but seriously, Warcraft lore is no better than MTG lore, at least based on the content, not presentation. Based on what you said, though, the presentation of the lore isn't what matters - and, also, Hearthstone is based on WC lore - so, presentation between HS and MTG are about equal. Even if HS lore has more backstory, it's rooted entirely in other games.
EDIT: "20% less dumb than HS" I mean. You obviously don't know how deep the game can get. Even Aggro requires thought, unlike the current state of Aggro in HS. And, before you start ranting that aggro can require brains, ik. It just doesn't in HS rn.
Been playing for a few days now and after realizing you only get 5 duo-coloured decks I must agree that this game is not f2p friendly at all.
Sure you get gold to buy packs and sometimes some nice free cards; but the fact that decks are 60 card+ and you can have like 5 of the same legendaries in a deck (equivalent of HS legendaries I mean) its SO expensive to play competitively.
10 games 10 losses. Never get a chance to play a damn card. Tons and tons of fun... And yes, I understand enough about lands to get how the gameplay works.

More than 100 games played already, more than 100 wins. I'm really enjoying this game. Tons and tons of fun... And yes, i understand some people can't properly play a card game more complex than Hearthstone, but well, wtf can I do about that, hehe... :P
I was like 'Oh, it's out already? Time to play!'. Tutorial done, seemed nice, then I checked how unbelievably f2p unfriendly the game is and stopped caring about playing it at all. Which is a shame since I've always liked MTG. Of the bigger CCG I've played in (terms of being f2p friendly, as I don't intend to spend money on this kind of games) it's the following - Gwent>>>ESL>Hearthstone>>>>>MTG...
Really enjoying the open beta with the new cards. Played the closed beta but in the last 2 month I quitted because the meta was not fun. If people believed Face Hunter was cancer, they would've thrown their PCs off the rooftop of their apartment complexs if they had to play against Mono-Red or Red/Black Aggro.
The answer currently? the feedback will be 'brought to attention of the developers'. And you really expect something to change? Or rather, that a single person is capable of changing the game? Rather, it appears that you need to gather half of all players in order to even get a reply.

thats called a safe answer because i am sure they get many. Its no different than what blizzard would say. Hey go to this thread or we are looking into this thank you lol
also i wasn't even sure what he was trying to achieve with that post ...which divulged into a 20 page thread...
Wait wait hs fanboys cry about MTGA not being f2p friendly? In which twisted timeline i got my self into??
You know that even without the free decks, you can get 2 booster packs(x8 cards) daily with 30mins of play right?RIGHT?Also wilcards are almost equal in value with dust.
The game should have been more generous when it is compared to gwent, Elderscrolls, shadowverse and faeria but seeing the same faces that have claimed that blizzard is generous and everything is ok, now bashing MTGA for not being f2p friendly is a lame joke.
I am not saying that HS is generous, though. Shadowverse is, for example. I am also not saying that MTGA is an extremly terrible economy (there are others saying that, though) but for me personally, it is bad. Simply, because I like to play in events, and this is nigh impossible to sustain in MTGA, due to the rewards being focused on cards.
How long have you been playing MTGA? Have you beein in the closed Beta, having played the game for half a year like I did? If not, you can't truly jugde the economy, to be honest. The beginning, while feeling somewhat sluggish, is great until about the time the NPE rewards end. It still is fine, though, since next to every pack you open yields some playable cards. That will change, the more you have of the set. There are a lot, truly a lot, cards in a set - imagine to play Arena consisitng out of a single set. Thats what Draft is essentially, and it still offers great depth - mostly due to the amount of cards and combination. Sure, there are only 5 colours (and some multicolour) compared to the classes in HS, but there still are more cards in comparison. And while a lot of cards in HS can be used, MTG has a tendency to print strictly better cards, or cards that are only used in limited enviroment.
In the end you get a booster with one non-duplicate card, the rest going to the 'vault', arguable the worst system in place for duplicates (return wise). At this point, you are missing a few cards, but need to open x amount of boosters to either get these cards or get the WC to spend them. Not beeing able to dust your usless extra, non meta cards is also a harder blow than you would think - that coming from me who has never really dusted non-extra cards in HS!
Oh well. There are some bad decisions have been made by WotC, and the thread I linked should be the finest example. I wouldn't put my trust into MTGA, I still have the feeling that it may end into some kind of stillborn like Duels did. Though I may be a tad negative after loitering in the Beta Forum, getting to know the endless whinery that is so inherent of these, but also noticing some well thought-out posts perteining some truth (just gotta mention no Friendlist - since how long? They finally migrated the Accounts, which should enable Friendlists - but they did not exploit on this, and there is still no ETA for such a qualitative feature)
Update on my opinion: it's bad in terms of being f2p friendly, but not as much as I thought. About the level of HS, maybe a little worse (or better? not sure yet, although of all the card games I tried, HS was always at the rock bottom). It's very refreshing and interesting, in a few days it climbed onto spot 2 on my CCG list (the top one is Gwent). I really dislike how sometimes not enough or too many lands block any kind of moves, but I guess that would be negated a bit if I were better with mulligans. I recommend trying it, surely not everyone will like it, but so far I do.
Just downloaded it. Might buy the welcome bundle or hold off for artefact. What do you guys think?
Buy it obviously :) It is cheap and you can always spend money on Artifact as well although I do not believe Artifact will be a hit with the people who do not play DOTA. Supporting game companies is always good if you want games to become better and better as the decades past.

FYI you dont have to spend gold and you dont need to have every damn card to be playable.
Brewing is the best part of the game.
ive played magic for years and i think its good game to get people into it.
The new player experience is definitely a work in progress,
Let your voice be heard and give input to them on changes while its in beta.
Do or do not. There is no try.

You mean.... like this?

It is the thread with most posts, not counting threads of closed beta.
