Not fan of Artifact but.. you are bitching about 100 bucks for game in total...
How many of you spent 100+ each expansion on HS?
This couldn't be further removed from the truth.
People are bitching because every pack, every card and every game mode outside of constructed costs real money.
That's not the case anymore. Apparently you haven't seen Valve reply yesterday to all the backlash. Yeah that's right they fixed two of the major complains on the same day. Hence why a user here just minutes ago implied a conspiracy theory in which Valve comes out on top for being this kind and understanding company
Seems fishy at best. Btw constructed? I see you really aren't giving a single chance in knowing what's going on in Artifact. You should try and have an open mind towards everything outside of your routine in everyday life (in this case it's HS). I can help you here- WORST CONSTRUCTED MODE OF ANY CARD GAME EVER. THERE IS NO LADDER TO RANK UP. I'm dying of laughter .
Probably another thing for Valve to add and be called an angel. Too little too late, considering how HS next exp seems fun.
I'm expecting to see Artifact as a second Hindenburg

Who told you that? I’m playing it now and, believe me, $100 buys you very little in Artifact, certainly not the “game in total”. If it did, I’d have no issue. When the secondary market opens, some single cards will probably cost half that.
Is there any good place to look at card% in artifact booster packs? I only found that there are 77 rares in the game, each pack has a guaranteed rare and any other card may be a rare... Anyway. Let's assume that it is 2 rares per pack on average (I think it is a VERY high estimate)
That means to get a specific rare you need to open 38.5 pack on average. 38.5*2 = $77. I estimate that marketplace cost for one good rare will be at the very least $50.
BTW, in hearthstone to get a legendary you want for $ you need to buy and dust 16 packs.

HS dont force you to pay anything to begin to play the game XD...that is what a "paywall" means. You obviusly will invest money in the get to play on the ladder but you can experiment the game without any invest. That is not the case of artifact for the moment. The fact that you are force to invest is good for business but bad for get new players. I am not suprise to see the much codes that are given to streamers and all the stuff. As i said is not a bad thing but also is not something that you force if you want new players of all the ages.

The problem is, that Artifact will NEVER give you any cards for free.
Why? Because you can them sell them on market for money. So only getting packs for cash or winning in drafts where you enter for cash. No other choice for you.

The devs said they would restrict card prices in order to avoid 50 bucks for a single good card. The best cards in the game wouldn't cost more than 20

Hmmm. That is... good. It makes life harder for the guys who don't intend to play the game but will only participate in trading.
On other hand Artifact players should be prepared that the real way to get rare you want is to buy many packs and wait till you are lucky. Marketplace will have few of those and that will be sold instantly.

No, they fixed the ''duplicate cards from starter decks'' problem, they haven't fixed their economy and the economy is what people are bitching about. I've also never said that constructed was good, I've said that it was the only format in the game that doesn't cost money to play. The economy is so bad that it is embarrassing. This game will fade into obscurity very fast.
I'm wondering is Artifact ''wallet'' connected to Steam wallet? I mean, if you for example sell a 20$, is that money tied to Artifact or can it be used to buy anything on Steam?
I am always excited about a new game, but I see several flaws in Artifact.
1) It is not aimed to casual- ftp players. It is complex, it is expensive and you can't even buy packs for free. That's a NO for a percentage of players than, in HS, I am absolutely sure that it's huge. Here HS wins (as well as Gwent, whose economy is incredibly generous)
2) It is not aimed to Twitch. I am sorry, but it's boring and complicated to watch. It doesn't mean is a bad game, Magic has the same problem and it's a great game. But Hearthstone is the king because anyone can watch and understand a game in 2 min, and watch a streaming while having a beer without having to be too focused.
3) It can be a good game, but it has to beat both HS and Magic. Let's face it: both casual and pro players have a limited time (and money) to play. HS has been around for ages and we all have a huge collection, so it will be difficult for a HS player to leave all that behind and stop playing. On the other hand, Magic has just started, and it is THE game: if you want the complexity and quality of a 30 year old claimed game, nothing will be better than Magic. I am afraid that, at the end of the day, most players will have to chose ONE or TWO games to focus, and HS and Magic will win that battle and become the main games for casual and hardcore gamers.
The only advantage that Artifact has so far is the tournaments. With a million dollar tournament set for 2019, it will attract FOR SURE pro players. (That's why so many streamers are interested on it and are leaving other games). Will this money investment be enough? In my experience you can't buy a success such as HS, but we will see...
Valve announced that they would add a way to recycle cards (such as unsalable duplicates of cards in the starter decks) into event tickets, but we don't know the conversion rate yet, so whether this can be considered a true fix remains to be seen. They could have excluded starter cards from packs entirely, which would fix the issue for sure, but they didn't choose that option.
It is good to see Valve respond so quickly though, that's something Blizzard could learn from.
If it was just the $20 entry free, I would likely try Artifact. However, it seems you really need the marketplace for getting the cards you want for constructed mode, since buying packs is not going to get you there unless you're willing to spend a fortune. So until it becomes clear what the price levels of cards on the marketplace will be, I won't be jumping in.
I guess I could play the new Casual Phantom Draft instead, but I don't know whether Draft would keep me interested for long: in Hearthstone I only play Arena when there are special events.

Its steam wallet alone. So yeah if u make a big profit u can buy other games from steam.
Or even better u can buy a game for a friend and he gives u the money. That way u can actually make real life money. Of course the steam tax on every transaction in the market plus the fact that cards aint gonna be expensive makes this kinda of pratice impossible.
But yeah right now u can go "infinite" in casual draft cause theres no entry free so its not the infinite we know of.
Rewards are shit even if u go full hulk and win all games u basically get like a card pack and the ticket pack. The odds of achieving this are of course skewed by the fact that exists mmr here which forces a 50% winrate.
As much as i would like Artifact to be decent and a fresh card game to try out I am actually rooting for its downfall
Watched kripps tutorial n stuff. Also watched the comments regarding the cost of artifact. Figured out it's valves whalehunt mission. It's super expensive and seemed boring. I also realized how much I need aesthetics and visual entertainment. It's not for me.
LUL, was waiting to see how long it would be before someone did this, Artifact is the shiny new thing and the people streaming it are giving away tonnes of beta keys so of course people are going to be watching it right now, they all want a key, it might be a decent game i don't know but it is incredibly boring to watch and the fact you need to buy the game before you can even play it, let alone then have to buy packs with more money if you want cards just doesn't appeal to me at all, there's a lot more I wanna say but it appears a lot of people in this thread have already said it all for me so no need to say more.

IMO, they are creating a demand for shitty cards. They understood that very few people will actually buy unplayable cards. This way every card will have some value on a market.
I still don't know why people are just sooo in love with the idea of Artifact. It just does not appeal to me at all, not one little bit. Yes, I'm also getting kinda bored of Hearthstone lately, but I just don't see how some random game can compare.
MTG:Arena is a lot more fun than Hearthstone, I'm still just waiting for them to work out some kinks (most notably the duplicate card system haha, who knows how that will truly be resolved). MTG at least has some pedigree. Artifact? I'll pass.

IIRC, They promised to eventually replace it with a system that gives you a random card of the same rarity from a random set whenever you would get a fifth copy.
MTGa is doing exactly opposite to what Artifact is doing and I expect MTG arena to be the real competitor for HS once they fix 5th card issue, add ladder and start using the digital nature of the game more (for example they can create special MTGa inly expansion with no paper analogue with cards that are impossible in paper version)

Artifact's economy issues and concerns are 100% valid but the outrage over the concept of spending $20 to be entertained is just ridiculous.
Outrage to pay for what is essentially a demo version is absolutely justified. Majority of people here bought games that cost far more.
Purchasing a game that is still early access and complaining about it is ridiculous. No one forced you to purchase it.
Don't like it - don't buy it is an incredible business model. Always works.
