Blizzard's business practices are what they are now because it works. They attract a large f2p audience, hook them, and then convert them to paying customers through the importance and difficulty of getting a larger collection.
With Faeiria and Artifact having a vastly different bussiness model, Blizzard may finally have to give up their "monopoly" on the digital card game market and start changing their business model to be competitive with newcomers. Of course, this would only happen if the other card games actually start to threaten HS. I don't know if they will, because HS is, at the core, casual, simple, intuitive, gorgoues, and f2p at entry, not to mention incumbent in the market. The other games are a bit more complicated, and pay to play at entry, meaning their audience will take much longer to grow.
I know I'm going to try Artifact when it comes out, but let's be honest, Artifact attracts a nicher, more hardcore gamer market. If you're reading this, you're on a gaming forum, which automatcally makes you much more of a hardcore HS gamer than a majority of the playerbase, which mumbers in the millions. In my books, what Blizzard really needs to consider is the f2p experience of HS, which imo is abyssmal right now. If starting the game means getting matched up against golden full collection heroes only a week in, they can't hook incoming players into staying and eventually paying, especially since paying to become competetive means paying a LOT. The game has become too large to keep as it started, the business model needs a revamp. At this point, only people like me and other people that frequent forums can even hope to keep up without paying, or bother to pay every expansion. And if you can't keep up, you quit sooner rather than later.
From Blizzard point of view they don't need any new f2p players cause already have tons of em' .
If you are an older f2p player it's possible to compete with p2w, but you must accept that you are not going to have fun (with meme decks and stuff). Pretty much all you can hope to achieve is make 1-2 good decks and play them a lot.
The selfish part of me kinda likes that p2w get pretty poor value for their money so f2p don't feel obliterated by other people's wallet like in some other freemium games.
This is a forum for Hearthstone players. If you left, that's good for you and all, but we genuinely all don't care. Enjoy your time in Faeria and go rant on the forums there why Hearthstone is so much worse than Faeria. You needn't come here to lecture us on your opinion.
edit: No hard feelings, but this is just another salt thread and we have more than enough of those.
There is no "building a collection" if it is done in 70 hours: that's sheer grinding, not building (much like in wow btw, which is a silly part of the game on the long run).
Most importantly, you changed from F2P in HS to P2P in Faeria: if the main point was money, you failed.
Of course you didn't, and that's simply because you pursued your taste.
Indeed, even though I can understand your point of view, I will never agree with your position (and I am a F2P as well). Because so many factors should be considered that it's ultimately just a subjective matter.
Also, YOU CAN PLAY MORE THAN ONE THING YOU DUMDUMS! No one is like "I'm leaving Madden for FIFA" "I'm leaving chicken for steak." "I'm leaving pants for shorts."
I've been playing Faeria for about a month now and I think it's a great game! A good compliment to Hearthstone - similar enough to be the type of game I'd like but doesn't compete with HS because it's a completely different game. I think both games can easily co-exist, and since I don't keep having to buy packs in Faeria, my budget can afford both :)
Btw, faeria's site looks like it wants to attract player just by stating what everyone dislikes about Hs: "Friendly community", "No card packs to buy", "A real solo experience" hahaha It made me laugh.
I don't understand why people seem to be hyping up artifact so much here, people did exactly the same thing with gwent and look how that turned out. lol

If you are not playing Hearthstone anymore..why are you here? On a Hearthstone forum site?
Is it because Faeria has troubles keeping their players and thus you have to reach out in order to maintain a certain level of playerbase?
No, Faeria has a pretty good player base. It usually takes somewhere from 20–90 seconds for a game to queue up. I'm here because I still view people here as part of my community and I wanted to share something really fun that I found with other people who might enjoy it too.
I pay to play Faeria. And I enjoy myself a lot more.
With Faeria, you pay $25 to get the full set of cards. So that you can really enjoy the full flavor of building a collection, this still happens through earning in-game experience, but the pace is so different as to make Hearthstone collection-building laughable
At one point you could buy the entire collection for a set price. They since have changed their business model and their system is much more similar to other F2P games. I started playing Faeria a few months ago and opening card packs was very similar to Hearthstone in terms of pricing/business model. Apparently, the previous business model was not sustainable for them... source: https://www.faeria.com/news/announcements/228-faeria-friday-the-new-economy
What about an android version? I found it at google play but cant use it with my tablet?!
I think(?) I heard that they used to have one, but that they've closed down their app versions to focus on the desktop. A lot of the in-game interactions require hover, so I doubt it would work well on a touch screen.

It's the other way around. They used to be ftp, but they switched to btp. I tried them after the switch to btp (because I don't like the level grind of ftp) and bought the full collection at once, about a month ago. (And yes, there will be new expansions in the future for $14 each every two months, with half coming out each month. I bought the first and found it worthwhile.)

Why we don't care you left Hearthstone

This is a HS forum. Don't care.

You ran far away but not far enough. Artifact is coming and it's going to blow everything out of the water.
i want artifact to fail just because of those people overhyping it so much
Cool but if i want a diferent and fulfilling experience in card games i just go to Magic
"Why you left hearthstone for a another game so you could post about it here" - Correct title
You waited this long to leave chicken? Welcome to Steak, it's a wonderful red, bloody, delicious cow empire!
LOL well played :)

Dibbity don't touch that!

Yes, I'd say the overall culture is more positive. I've run into several odd combo decks on ladder within the past day.
