my questions: 1. A lot of CCG's like for example shadowverse and eternal card game claim to be free to play too and give away card packs with more cards and more often than hearthstone, there is a catch though in that you can play multiple copies of the same legendary in 1 deck which makes it so that you'll need to have 4 of the same legendary if you want to play a competitive deck that has the same chance against decks that do have all the copies of said legendary. Does faeria apply the idea of 'Free to play' of hearthstone (packs are harder to get but if you have the legendary you want you don't have to worry about aquiring multiple copies of it) or is it more like the named CCG's ?
A couple questions in here:
1. You can only play 1 Legendary per deck in Faeria, or 3 copies of any other card. Decks are 30 cards each.
2. It is literally impossible to buy Battle Chests (card packs) in Faeria. You unlock everything through progress - whether it be leveling up, completing solo content, completing Daily Quests, or receiving Daily Login bonuses.
Battle Chests will never contain a duplicate card of anything you already own the maximum amount of copies of. This means you can never open a pack with cards you cannot make use of.
You can also craft any non-Legendary card once every 12 hours for free. You can store up to 3 charges of this if you don't log in for a couple days.
2. Magic the gathering and (in a lesser degree) eternal card game use the idea that you need to have certain lands/sigils in your deck which you can play to give yourself mana. on the positive side this does add a new layer of strategy to the game as you'll have to find out what the optimal amount of mana is for you deck; On the negative side you can fairly often find yourself getting 'manascrewed' (unless you make some big sacrifices by putting way too much mana in your deck) which is very frustrating to say the least. Also in MTG one of the main critiques is that competitive games (at least in the limited format (-> draft/sealed) get more often decided by a player getting manascrewed than a player outplaying the opponent. My question after this somewhat lengthy intro is: you said that you need mountains, lakes, etc. to summon your creatures/ cast your spells does this mean you'll have the same risk of getting 'manascrewed' and what are the differences with faeria in comparison to those to games ?
Good question!
The short answer is: No, you can't really get "manascrewed," mostly because Faeria's economy is persistent and you retain resources from your previous turn of play. In addition, you choose one land to create every turn - you don't need to draw a land card to play a land.
In Faeria, cards have two requirements you meet in order to play them:
Faeria cost
Land cost
You gain 3 Faeria per turn, and can harvest more from "Faeria Wells" that exist on the board. Any Faeria you don't spend you hang on to for your later turns, so you can simply choose to save up and play something big.
As for Land costs, allow me to use this crude screenshot as an example:
This is the Power Wheel. You can use this once per turn. You can use it to create one land of any color, draw 1 card, or gain 1 Faeria.
Once you create a land, you have it forever. (Except in some cases when certain cards steal/destroy them, but for the most part you expect to keep them)
In order to play a card that requires 2 Mountains and 2 Forests, for example, you only need to control 2 Mountains and 2 Forests. The lands aren't "used up" after you play it.
3. Is the board you're starting out with in Faeria Always the same or do you get special rules/ shape in certain pve / pvp content of the game (examples that have this are for example elder scrolls: legends (and again eternal in a somewhat lesser degree)
The board always starts completely empty, and exactly the same. The players create the board as they go, using the Power Wheel mentioned above. Many cards also create and manipulate land creation in all kinds of ways. In the end you're left with a unique board each game in 99.99999% of cases. I made that number up but I'm sure it's close.
4. You said something about faeria allowing you to do co-op missions is that something you can do with your friends or is it something you do have to do with random strangers or does it support doing both?
You can do any co-op mission with a friend or with an NPC ally. You cannot queue up randomly for co-op, but you can use our Discord for finding co-op partners if you're looking for any. Our co-op missions are contained in the adventure campaign called "The Oversky."
5. In hearthstone there is the 'borrow decks' function for when you play friends with a lesser collection. is this something faeria has/wishes to expand to?
This is a great feature and we'd love to have something like this. It's just a matter of finding the time to be able to add cool stuff like this in the game, and we have a lot of things in mind already. We'd have nothing against it.
6. In shadowverse there is actually the possibility to draft a deck like you do in arena mode and play that against your friend. (this is something I wish hearthstone had as well) is this something faeria has or wishes to expand to ?
Same here. Private lobby Pandora games are something we've discussed internally before. Can't say when it'll become reality, but we like the idea of it.
7. As one of faeria's main selling points you named that it has a living board does this mean there is also a certain aspect of conquest in the game where you need to conquer certain location so you can get some bonusses from those?
In every Multiplayer game, you win by reducing your opponent's hit points to zero. There are many cards in the latest expansion that have the "Corrupt" keyword that gives you bonuses for entering enemy land.
Other than that, some solo missions do have alternate win conditions - such as surviving a certain amount of turns or completing puzzles.
I remember hearing about Faeria before and would be interested to try it. It seems to share elements with Duelyst which combines Hearthstone with a sort of Playing Board.
You mentioned that the cost model for Faeria has changed from f2p to one upfront cost. With just one upfront cost do you unlock everything in the game (the base game)? If not, how quickly (for those who already familiar with card games) is the progression and getting to all the unlockable content?
Is there any overall progression in the game? Do you have an "Avatar" of sorts that represents you to level up? Is there any customization of play beyond just deck building (just as choosing a unique power or something for your deck)?
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions, and for giving away free keys!
Looks like a really nice twist on card game with the board game like playing field. Would really like to have an alternative game to play when the meta becomes stale. Thanks for bringing the game to my attention.
Since Hearthstone is becoming more expensive, I certainly would love to try other games to fill my time. Can you tell us what the expected cost of the average player is compared to Hearthstone? I know you mentioned it is a one time purchase, but for each expansion as well? No loot boxes at all? Any plans on this changing down the road?
I would love to get a fall of everlife key. I’ve been playing faeria off and on for many months now. It’s a great game with a lot of strategy and I would recommend it to anyone!
I was really excited about faeria. And then discovered i don't play card games on my pc. Was really sad to hear when you discontinued mobile development.
Shudderwock means driving a clown car in circles around your opponent while he swings his sword at you. Half the time he chops you and your car to pieces. The other half you park on his legs and 40 clowns come out one by one, trampling him to death.

Thanks for the questions!
Sorry to say but the graphics are nowhere near as beautiful as hearthstone.
Seems pretty good. I hope I can get a Steam Key!
Edit: The second half of the expansion comes out august 21th, my birthday :0

Seems like a cool game, would love to try it out
The price of the game seems fair, but 13€ for a 40card DLC just sounds like too much.
Edit:
How often do you plan to realease a DLC so i can know what the costs of the game are in future?
