The esthetics in Faeria are amazing! I have been playing since early access, but very, very rarely, so I can't say anything about balance. I've been mostly playing the PvE stuff.
I've been playing the beta on iPad a long time ago for a review. I really enjoyed the game. My only question is: will there be a mobile version available on Adroid? Would love to play the game.
I have been playing Faeria pretty much full time for a while now, and I really enjoy it a lot more than Hearthstone. The game is a blast to play, and the art is amazing.
Games tend to be a fist fight for the board, and there are many decisions you have to make in order to win games. Also, Faeria punishes you for misplays, and the game is what I always wanted HS to be....a game where your moves and plays really matter to help you win a game :)
Faeria is my main card game, and I can't wait for Fall of Everlife Part 2 to be released later in the month!!!
This game has been on my steam wishlist for quite a while now. I really like the look of it and how much solo content there seems to be, and the strategy that goes with hexagonal playboards is super fun in my opinion. Haven't had the extra money kicking around to purchase it yet, but I'd love to play it. Thanks for stopping by and doing a giveaway man, that's awesome.
my questions: 1. A lot of CCG's like for example shadowverse and eternal card game claim to be free to play too and give away card packs with more cards and more often than hearthstone, there is a catch though in that you can play multiple copies of the same legendary in 1 deck which makes it so that you'll need to have 4 of the same legendary if you want to play a competitive deck that has the same chance against decks that do have all the copies of said legendary. Does faeria apply the idea of 'Free to play' of hearthstone (packs are harder to get but if you have the legendary you want you don't have to worry about aquiring multiple copies of it) or is it more like the named CCG's ?
2. Magic the gathering and (in a lesser degree) eternal card game use the idea that you need to have certain lands/sigils in your deck which you can play to give yourself mana. on the positive side this does add a new layer of strategy to the game as you'll have to find out what the optimal amount of mana is for you deck; On the negative side you can fairly often find yourself getting 'manascrewed' (unless you make some big sacrifices by putting way too much mana in your deck) which is very frustrating to say the least. Also in MTG one of the main critiques is that competitive games (at least in the limited format (-> draft/sealed) get more often decided by a player getting manascrewed than a player outplaying the opponent. My question after this somewhat lengthy intro is: you said that you need mountains, lakes, etc. to summon your creatures/ cast your spells does this mean you'll have the same risk of getting 'manascrewed' and what are the differences with faeria in comparison to those to games ?
3. Is the board you're starting out with in Faeria Always the same or do you get special rules/ shape in certain pve / pvp content of the game (examples that have this are for example elder scrolls: legends (and again eternal in a somewhat lesser degree)
4. You said something about faeria allowing you to do co-op missions is that something you can do with your friends or is it something you do have to do with random strangers or does it support doing both?
5. In hearthstone there is the 'borrow decks' function for when you play friends with a lesser collection. is this something faeria has/wishes to expand to?
6. In shadowverse there is actually the possibility to draft a deck like you do in arena mode and play that against your friend. (this is something I wish hearthstone had as well) is this something faeria has or wishes to expand to ?
7. As one of faeria's main selling points you named that it has a living board does this mean there is also a certain aspect of conquest in the game where you need to conquer certain location so you can get some bonusses from those?
That were the questions I could think of straight away, if any others cross my mind I'll post them and of course I'll be happy playing the game if I get gifted it ;) )
Edit: I noticed that some of the questions I asked could be answered after watching the trailer (as I hadn't done that before I asked them) (like the legendary one, anyways that makes it even easier to answer them I guess :P)
Hello, i'm not the OP, and don't work for Abrakam, but I have been playing faeria casually for a long time. so I will try to answer your questions from my perspective and as best as I can :)
1) you do need to acquire multiple copies of non legendary cards, but card packs (aka battle chests) are less random, and you can craft two cards a day for free with the current system. In Faeria you can have only one copy of a legendary in your deck, but you do need 3 copies of a card of any other rarity to complete the set. other than that, battle chests (card packs) in faeria will only give you cards you still need to complete the set (no disenchanting). also, there is a crafting system that lets you craft two non legendary cards a day to help you get the cards that you want, imho the crafting is pretty slow, and your level limits what you can craft (common - any level, rare - level >= 10, epic - level >= 25).
2) you don't put lands/mana in your decks, getting "mana screwed" depends more on how you play, and less on the cards you draw. in Faeria you get at least 3 mana each turn (also called faeria) that accumulates over turns. each turn you also have a choice between placing any special (colored) land you want / placing two basic lands (colorless) / drawing a card / +1 faeria.
3) in pvp the board always starts the same (same size, same location for faeria wells and empty state), but it can change in co-op and some pve content, from size, to number / location of faeria wells and the initial state of the board. there are also some special cards that can only appear in pandora mode / pve content
4) you can do the co-op missions only with a bot or with a friend, there is a channel in Faeria's discord channel for people who look for co-op partners
5) as far as I know, there is no option to borrow decks in Faeria.
6) Pandora has a multiplayer mode that matches you against strangers, and single player mode that matches you against bots (with smaller rewards). but I don't think there is a way to draft specifically against your friends.
7) aside of the strategic value of placing lands, there are four faeria (mana) wells on the map, you can harvest one faeria from a well each turn if you have a creature without summoning sickness adjacent to it at your turn
Strictly PC? And if so are there plans to eventually go to mobile?
We are strictly PC now. At one point we were developing for and supported mobile clients, but unfortunately the extra development load this creates was seriously slowing our progress. We do develop on Unity and a lot of people assume it's as easy to click a button to port to different platforms, but mobile in particular is a huge horse to wrangle and we have a very small development team. Satisfying the requirements of the Apple Store when developing new features/account structures in particular can be very taxing, let alone maintaining the app as functional. In the end we chose to make the PC client as good as we can possibly do and direct all focus there.
That isn't to say that Faeria won't appear on mobile in some form in the future. A few of you had similar questions about mobile so I hope that covers your questions.
Looks pretty cool. Whats the expansion cycle like and how often are balance changes done?
Our goal since the beginning of this Summer is to provide monthly content in the form of DLC. In the short term, this means we will be releasing 20 cards each month - bundled into DLC that unlocks in 2 parts. This means you make one purchase over 2 months and get all 40 cards, month by month. It's a little different from most other models, but the goal is to minimize the amount of times you need to get DLC off Steam while still giving you new stuff to play with every month.
We just released 20 cards on July 18th, and have 20 more coming August 21st. More will follow each month.
As for balance changes - we are committed to making them as often as necessary to keep the meta as diverse as possible. We want the core set to be just as strong as the DLC so you don't feel as if you MUST purchase the DLC in order to play the game. At the end of June we adjusted 34 cards in the core set with this in mind. You can read about that here if you're interested.
I've played Faeria before and, though I've fallen off a few months ago, this new expansion seems like a lot of fun. The game's very fun and quite different from Heartstone; can't imagine how fun it is now with the new dlc.
I'll try playing it again, sometime. I'd definetely recommend people to try it out.
Edit: Though, is it possible to get just the Everlife key over here? :I
I've tried Faeria before, it is highly enjoyable. Anyone who hasn't tried it and is a fan of card games should go and have a look. :)
I love the idea behind Faeria (installed it some time ago) but never had enough time to play it. :(
I would love to try it! Hearthstone is the only ccg I've played but faeria always intrigued me.
Looks really interesting
I went up to rank 3 at Faeria. It's an awesome game. I don't have the latest dlc. I hope I win Fall of Everlife.

Sounds interesting! Definitely worth a try :)

It looks awesome! Pick me, pick me!
Wow that looks like a really neat game! I'm glad I found this thread so I can hopefully give the game atry!

I'd like a key, please. I have seen your game before. it looks interesting.
thanks.
Whoa! I woke up to a lot of responses. I'm going to do my best going through these now.
Since there are so many responses, I'll be giving away 3 sets of keys tonight. Thanks everyone!

As of this moment we have 362, including 30 Pandora treasures. On August 21st, we will have 382.
Eh what the heck looks like fun. Maybe I’ll get a key, maybe I’ll buy it
I need it *-*
