I think I have reached my breaking point with this game, with this expac. Ive never been more angry or upset with the current meta, but I espoused those feelings in the proper thread and won't go down that road here. That being said, Ive played Shadowverse and while ok, it didn't grip my attention like Hearthstone did. Is there a decent alternative that's more balanced and has a bigger variety of decks that are playable? Also, preferably with considerably less RNG than HS? I get how sometimes flipping the script is fun and causes, "Oh wow!" moments but if I outplay/ out tempo/have the upper hand and should win, having the rug pulled out from under you with cards like Yogg, etc have an immediate tilting effect and make it to where I would rather invest my time/miney elswlewhere. Thanks for time and your responses.
What about trying real-life MTG? The only thing there that limits your deck is actually your wallet, and it is a great game altogether.
Another alternative is to play a Trading Miniature Game: I played the Star wars version and it was super funny; besides, the only RNG is throwing a 20-sided die.
HS is a pretty fun game, thats why is at the top 10 most played online games worldwide; a suitable alternative is yet to be found (maybe some HS developers go rogue like they did on DOTA?
What you described is a game that's better than HS in EVERY way, which obviously doesn't exist. But if you want alternatives, Gwent or Elder Scrolls Legends are alright. The latter is very similar.
If you're into ye olde Yu-Gi-Oh (or want to get back into it / play around with it), there's a pretty fun mobile game for it called Duel Links, released in English earlier this year I believe. There are near constant events and updates to the game. It has unranked / casual and ranked play just like Hearthstone. The best thing about it in my opinion is the sheer amount of rewards that are earnable without paying out of pocket. Some days Konami gives away game currency for free just because they can and you can go on a nice little pack-buying spree without feeling guilty about real life spending. There are also very frequent sales on card packs if you do want to spend money on it.
None HS is the best digital card game out. Gwent and ESL are fun distractions for a while though. If your fed up with the game take a break. I didn't play for a few months when Dark Souls 3 came out and took another month for Zelda. Go have fun playing other games and come back when you get the itch to play again.
So how is that a problem? If I play right and exhaust my opponents options or if I have a better board state and based upon the information I have exhausted my opponents resources, I should win/be close to closing out the game. That makes sense. If my opponent tutors for an answer, then he deserves the swing back. Yogg, Evolve, and Primordial glyph (because you are tutoring outside your deck) boil down the gamestate to an RNG fiesta that you cant play around. That being said. I get that alternatives could be construed as a superiority complex, and its something to be aware of, but there are alternatives such as LoL to DoTA. However I generally find MOBA communties toxic and would rather stay away from there. That being said, I'm appreciative of the reponses and appreciate your time. Thank you everyone.
The other card games out there don't feel as fun to play as hearthstone - CCG are generally head-to-head whih means frustration at times. I'd suggest you try other genres for a while.
Eternal is the only one I've liked enough to play more than a few days.
Have high hopes for Artifact (the DOTA game) when it comes next year. Not much on it so far, other than it's rumored not to play like your standard "person on each side with a health pool" game and that it's quite complex.
I'm gonna speak for my experience in playing, along HS, most of the other 'big' CCGs in the market and having sizeable collections in all of them.
TES: Legends
Of all of them this Is the most similar to HS, though RNG is toned way down. The lanes and prophecy mechanics give it a nice spin. Decent F2P though still consider spending money.
Eternal
The most F2P friendly of them all. Packs give you a guaranteed rare (epic equivalent) AND dust equivalent so your collection will grow rapidly. Gameplay is more strategic as mana is played as cards, just like MTG. The only thing I don't like that much is deck size (75 cards min).
Shadowverse
Also F2P friendly (they give you 3 daily missions so you can get a pack a day) and almost no RNG. Sadly, I'm not enjoying this as much as before cause the devs are enforcing shorter games in printing ridiculous win conditions that come out as early as turn 7-8.
Faeria
Hearthstone meets board game, same F2P as TES Legends. I like this game a lot but the community is still small.
So I would recommend all of them if you like short games, but if you like long grinder games maybe not Shadowverse.

Nice

Bethesda's Elder Scrolls Legends has a pretty good range of aggro, midrange, control, and ramp, and with twitch drops is effectively f2p.

I appreciate the replies, has anyone tried Eternal and how it stacks up?
I have lot of fun with Clash Royale. I never feel the same frustration that I can do with HS.
Gwent is arguably better than Hearthstone in some ways and Shadowverse is a pretty decent alternative.

Downside: It's mobile only as far as I know.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Hi. i was into Eternal but their mmr is trash.
Being in Bronze III (the last spot to be) with basic cards i was matched with silver III or even Silver I
the rest is wonderfull. free pack with the first win of the day, nice mech and archetypes of playing

12 wins in ArenA with: Mage and Paladin, first time legend with Rogue

CCGing since '98.
I'd be interested to see that. In regards to TES, what are twitch drops?
I quite like hextcg. I really only do pve with it, so it is a low stress option. You can no doubt play as much pve as you want though.
I just find the cards cooler there than on Hearthstone. Like they took Hearthstone and dialed it up to 11.
For some free zero amgst card fun I suggest playing their campaign mode a few times.
