I installed yesterday and pushed through 8-10 battles. The mechanics in place to provide a comeback chance are smart design. The lanes, card draw from runes, and prophecy cards make stabilization & comebacks far more likely when compared to the steamroll effect that is generally the case in HS. There was enough there for me to pursue it. I'll load it on my laptop and give it a go this weekend.
Yeah I really enjoy the Rune/Prophecy system, something that actually discourages going full SMOrc decks.
I really like the way the board looks, actually. It all feels very fantasy yet semi-serious.
Agreed. I especially like that the focus is primarily on the board and that it takes up the majority of the screen (and that there aren't a bunch of silly gizmos to click on, as if 10 year olds on Ritalin are the majority of the players).
I'll say the meta is healthier than I initially thought in this game, and maybe because comparing it to Hearthstone, this game has way better balance.
If the aesthetics were a bit better, I think I would just outright quit Hearthstone to focus this game.
Aesthetics a bit better??? Compared to the cartoon-circus theme of HS, TESL looks like it belongs in The Louvre.
For me the board is quite bland, and the cards look very similar to each other so it's hard to tell them apart at a glance, the Lizardmen cards come to mind or goblins.

This game is fun and I enjoyed it but like all cards games you need to invest a bit of money or a lot of time to have fun. I was considering moving over but I already have many good cards in Hearthstone that it isn't worth moving over for me, just to start the grind again. I love TCGS and enjoy both HS and TES and Hex but I have to make a choice where to invest to get my TCG fix, I can't afford to play all of them at a high level and personally the competitive element of these games is my favourite part. I'll play some TES every now and then for a change but I can't see myself putting in enough time or money to get some high level decks ready.

I keep seeing this "not willing to make the money and/or time investment again" argument on these threads, but from my (FTP player) experience so far TESL is far different than starting out in HS. I've been playing TESL for less than a week and I've already gotten two unique top-tier legendaries and have made two competitive hybrid decks from them. Compare that to my first week of HS, which was a grind and nothing but vanilla cards (and at least a month before I got my first legend). I'm curious what other's early TESL experiences have been, i.e. have I just gotten lucky?
So far no legendaries for me, besides the ones i got from the story mode mission. I appreciate how they cost a little less to craft than others, I just don't find them particularly useful at the moment. So far will/endurance token is working very solid for me, and I don't believe that has any legendaries in it.
At level 24 and 32, you will get free legendary race card. You can switch your race accordingly to avoid duplicate copies of unique legendary.
I got 2x Ungolim the Listener; while hoping for Allena Benoch. :( Oh, well, will keep, just in case he gets nerfed.
Spellsword decks (Endurance + Willpower) don't really need legendary cards at all. Maybe General Tullius, but not like must include. Those 3x Divine Fervors itself decides the match.

Yeah that's why i'm gonna switch to imperial. I'm just having too much fun with it, though i know if i can get that enchantment that spawns tokens every turn i'll be set, that and divine fervor just equals win.
AI is aggressive most times. AI will run out of cards/steam sooner than you think. So don't destroy runes unless you have big damage. Good removal/kill cards are scarce. Save your Guard creatures/removal spells for the Shadow lane. Pick "destroy enemy's support card" if you see one while drafting. Mundus stone is crazy OP in arena. Don't pick high cost Prophecy cards.
Regarding attribute,
Tier 1: Intelligence/Agility. Tier 2: Strength/Willpower. Tier 3: Endurance. Lacks removal. But can be strong with pair with Intelligence.
Always pick INT/AGI. If you don't get, pair T1 with T2.
Rank 9 to 5 is fairly easy. You can go 9-x wins. After that it gets harder, as AI plays with crazy good decks.
Good luck. ^^
Thanks again for the tips, all very useful, I got lucky, AGI/INT hybrid was one of the choices. And got a Mundus Stone, you're not kidding that thing has been a BOSS! (pronounced "BOWSE")
Wood Elf - both are good and unique. Redguard - pass. Nord - Tyr from story mode. Other 3 are decent. Go for it if you have other good legendaries. Orc - Wood Orc Headhunter fits in aggro Orc decks. Nagorm if you play Warrior control decks. Dark Elf - Archmage and Divayth Fyr are slow. Not enough 'good' last gasp creatures at the moment for Mastermind. Barenziah is decent. Khajiit - Quin'rawl Burglar is insane and need to be dealt immediately, else, game over. Having multiple copies of it is always good. You can get one from story mode. Ahnassi can be useful, but Monk decks at the moment are not that good. Descendant of Alkosh is meh. Argonian - both are good in ramp decks. High Elf - Ayrenn is good. Mentor's Ring is good if you have good board, else meh. Breton - all are good in ward decks. Very strong. Imperial - General Tullius alone.
Try to get unique good legendary, as you will never have to craft it again. Non-unique can have max of 3 copies in deck.

Cheers.
And, yeah, with lack of removing support item, it's just too good in arena. Might even see constructed play, since many don't use "destroy your opponent's support" card.

Many thx to this thread, I discovered a new world. 2 weeks of playing and full of fun. Still playing HS for daily gold but every time I play is a pain compared to ESL. ESL>>>>>>>>>>>>HS.
