Yes, indeed Sherman. Is it a Triple A? I think that you are confusing amateur and Indie company. Anyway. I have taken their definition. If you don't like it, ask to Brode why is using it.

This is just plain stupid. I'm not going to waste my energy anymore discussing with someone who thinks that 30 million dollars are like 2 cents in the gaming industry.
Shipmen, you're comparing interest, today, in a game that's released this week with one in its eighth year. Either you can see how silly that is or there's not much point engaging with you.
And $30 million isn't "2 cents." And no one else agrees with your definition of indie company, for reasons that are obvious.
Come on dude I know you're angry about the excess coins thing and they wouldn't refund you for those packs you opened but this is ridiculous.
I thought you'd stopped playing anyway?
It seems out of topic. I am not so hungry for myself any more, PayPal refunded me :). I am not playing HS yes. Furthermore, I stopped during the expansion of the colossus (I don't remember the name). I am checking the data. I like it. And yes, I will never play another Blizzard's game because I consider it a terrible company. You have not to agree or disagree, the definition is not mine, it is in their website. You have to agree or disagree with Brode.
@Sherman. 30M is not the development cost, but the funding cost. Huge difference. Inside you have to pay rent, food, materials, etc... real development cost is much, much lower. Anyway. It is stupid and arrogant, your approach. I mean, I provided their definition, then it is correct. So, it is pointless that you say that for you, it is not indie, tell it to Brode. Anyway, it started in the garage, and it received the money, so I agree with their definition. https://venturebeat.com/business/ben-brode-hamilton-chu-second-dinner-raises-30-million-from-netease-partner-marvel/
Anyway, I've been playing played Marvel Snap for a week. Hearthstone has it flaws but MS is an idiot paradise - fast games - you can play it on a toilet, shiny cards, almost no impact of your decisions - just vomit your cards and pray your opponent drew cards in a worse order than you did. I deleted it and I can't see any potential. You can still try it if you're bad at card games and you like Marvel universe or collecting usesless pixels.
You have not to agree or disagree, the definition is not mine, it is in their website. You have to agree or disagree with Brode.
Now suddenly, Ben Brode is so important in the gaming industry for you, that he can make the definition of an indie company. Wasn't he just a random guy who managed a card game with an overall mediocre success? So funny, dude.
Are you joking? Hideo Kojima is a terrible example. He designed the history of the games. Brode is a random guy who managed a card game with an overall mediocre success.

Sherman for me is funnier because you are an amateur that designed a guy that jumps over a cloud, and now you believe that you can correct a company's website about what is indie and what it is not indie.
Sherman for me is funnier than you are an amateur that designed a guy that jumps over a cloud, and you believe that you can correct a company's website about what is indie and what it is not indie.
And here they come, the personal attacks. I'm not going to enter into such a silly game, but that is exactly the typical recourse of someone who cannot hold a coherent discussion for more than two minutes.
It is not a personal attack, I have respect for you. But you are totally out of topic. This is not the post with the title "Is Second Dinner an indie company?" I have used their definition. So, we don't have anything to argue. If you don't agree with their definition, write to Second Dinner or open another post.

That doesn't make any sense, dude, and you know it. ;)
You don't win a silly internet argument (because let's be real, this is silly as hell...) by quoting a definition from a website of a company owned by some random guy who managed a card game with an overall mediocre success, as you exactly said minutes ago.
For me, makes sense. I agree with their definition. It is a company started in the garage that received money in funding so, it is an indie company still in startup. I am not interested in defining precisely at the cent what define indie by what it not indie, and we are out of topic.
You know how much I care about winning an argument? 0. I have my thinking if you agree ok, if you don't agree, it is still ok, I care 0. I indeed don't want to lose more time in this post. Furthermore, I think it is stupid.
If you don't agree with their definition, write to Second Dinner or open another post.

Jesus Christ... Ok, dude, I will send an email to Second Dinner exactly right now, don't worry! XD
Marvel snap have alot of potential I actually playing it now. And thinking to take break from HS ( playing since beta ) but honestly there u progress through upgrading ur card visuals , in Hs u pay to get diamon card just think of that
I've been playing Snap since its release and I love it. Compared to HS I got enough cards to make a few decks and so on. Basically i'm having loads of fun. Can't wait for an arena-like mode. I also love the fact that i get matched with people similar in value. This is awesome as i can focus on having fun and playing well instead of knowing that some games are lost from the start. The locations affect everything in random and fun ways, and it's up to us to adapt to them based on the cards in hand.
The only thing is that certain locations are overpowered when you realize how to abuse them, and the animations are way way way too slow and annoying.
If they fix the things that make the phone app a bad one, then it's gonna be fine.
Marvel Snap is new release, so it gets more appeal, but you don't know if that will remain true for a long time. If it does, then yeah, it could be a decent argument for claiming how Blizzard can't hold well anymore. And you still can make such claims based on some other data, but this specific one is not a good one.
Edit: Also, damn, I thought this is a post of some huge interest, and that's just 2 guys arguing with each other.
For me, makes sense. I agree with their definition. It is a company started in the garage that received money in funding so, it is an indie company still in startup.
If it received external funding it is not independent
Didn't they try this super greedy monetization scheme before it blew up in their face and they had to backtrack? Game immediately dropped off my list because of this alone.
Hearthstone is in a shit state but that's no reason to repeat my mistakes with another game like that - but you do you.
Are you joking? Hideo Kojima is a terrible example. He designed the history of the games. Brode is a random guy who managed a card game with an overall mediocre success.
Wait, what?
Yes. It has been a good card game, but it is very far to be a pillar in the games like Metal Gear :). I mean, if you write a list with the most important games in the history, I am quite certain that you would not include HS. Metal Gear instead will be inside the list, definitely.
Anyway, this is off-topic.
Eh, you're severely understating the impact Hearthstone has had. If you're playing Digital card games, the average person is going to think about Hearthstone and Slay the Spire. MTG is more influential overall, but not within this space. Nothing even comes close to Hearthstone's success in the digital CCG market, actually. And as for influencing the industry? Yeah, it did that too... Why else do you think *digital* card games exploded in popularity around 2015? It was mostly because of HS. Now, everybody is making one.
Hearthstone is certainly tapering off, and it's not gonna sustain that dominant position, that much is probably true. But it's also undeniable that Hearthstone was as impactful for the digital ccg genre as Metal Gear was for stealth action games.
