i used to read books. i'm just a stephen king fan, so most books i've read are his with the occasional wilbur smith, dan brown, tom clancy thrown in there for good measure. i actually havent read any books this year, and you probably read this by dan brown, but i think illuminati is his best book in the series.
Yes, love reading! Read about 25 books a year, not a lot but it's all I have time for. Best book I've read so far this year has to be Visions of the Anointed by Thomas Sowell. He's a well known economist and all of his books are incredible. I learn something valuable every time I read one of his works. Visions is especially relevant in the times we live in. Highly recommended!
Typically enjoy reading history, economics, psychology, finance, biographies and some fiction and sci fi. Currently reading Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. Good book and a much lighter read which we need sometimes!
This year. Baudolino by Umberto Eco. Fire and Blood by GRR Martin. I dont read much these days. But i do plan to reignite it with some guilty pleasure of Star Wars tho sadly the next era has been post-postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus
Love reading! Best book I've read this year is probably Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo, but it's a close call. Of other books I've read this year, Lolly Willows by Sylvia Townsend Warner was the most delightful and The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington the most surprising and strange. The most disappointing was The Testaments by Margaret Atwood - The Handmaid's Tale was perfect as a stand-alone and should newer have had a sequel. For science fiction readers, I really recommend Atwood's MaddAddam trilogy!
I also finished Ulysses this year, but that isn't so much reading as it is slowly working your way through the text, reading guide nearby and pencil in hand to take notes. I'm happy to have read it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that doesn't have a huge interest in literary fiction. There are other classics that are just as rewarding and much more accessible: Paradise Lost, as mentioned by HS_trash, is one of them, and there is a special place in my heart for The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe.
One of the best books I have ever read, period... one that moved me to tears at some parts, and changed me... one that I have read dozens of times cover to cover, and continue to enjoy and relive each time...
Gates of Fire, by Steven Pressfield.
Pick up a copy and give it a try. I promise you, you will love it, and come away from it changed in some small way.
I read this book in only one day, in the most terrible financial state of my entire life when I was 17 years old, it is crazy what you do to keep your mind distracted in hard situations.
Today with internet I become a lot more lazy with books, the last one was Dreams Of A Final Theory 5 years ago.

Love your comment. 25 books a year, 2 books monthly, 1 book each 2 weeks, 'not a lot', haha. Interesting topics tho
Haha, it's all realative man! I know some people who read nearly 60 books a year. It's not something I aspire too but I would love to have the time to read more. It works out to a book every two weeks but some books, like a biography or an historical fiction novel I can finish in three or four sittings while some books, like 'An Army at Dawn' (WWII) take me nearly two months to get through. I love WWII as a subject and it was a good book but every time I picked it up I would fall asleep on the sofa in like 10 minutes!
Anyway, these days I try and read more non fiction than fiction. It's just where I am at the moment because there are a lot of topics that interest me and I like learning about them but in the past I just read tons of sci fi and general fiction.
Are there any book lovers here at all? What are you reading and what is the best book you have read this year?
John dies in the end. The best book I’ve ever read.

What are books?
I'm reading Kantian Ethics By Allen W. Wood. A comprehensive, clear and understandable account of Kantian moral philosophy.
Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson is the best fantasy I’ve read in a long time!
printed PDFs ;)

Best this year? Suttree by Cormac McCarthy. Best ever? 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.
100 Years of Solitude was like an acid trip! Crazy book, enjoyed it a lot.
Missing lethal since June 2015.

No One Here Gets Out Alive - Danny Sugerman, Jerry Hopkins

Empire Of The Ants - Bernard Werber
A New Earth - Eckhart Tolle
The Marching Morons - Cyril M. Kornbluth (novella)
Who Are We - Karel Cubeca
Parallel Worlds - Michio Kaku
Mimsy Were The Borogoves
