Bit of a random question, but I thought someone might know of a product I'm trying to find...
My wife and I working towards closing on our first home. This house has a finished basement (sweet!) with a sump pump. Based on the recent inspection we had done, it doesn't look like they've had any issues with flooding in the last 6 years and we are not in a flood zone, but I'm still concerned about water entering the basement. The town we live in can sometimes have problems with drainage when it rains very heavily.
So basically, I'm looking to see if there's a raised platform or water resistant mat or something I could put my computer gaming chair and full tower gaming PC on just to take extra precautions. I've been looking around online a bit and haven't been able to find quite what I'm looking for. The entire gaming chair/PC setup is probably 60 inches/68 inches.
If anyone has any recommendations on what I'm trying to find I'd be most appreciative!
Yeah I would just permanently keep your tower on a desk or just move it up when its raining.
If you must be on a platform I would look into solid top pallets and maybe do two wide and maybe double high. I wouldnt be able to relax knowing my chair wheel might clip off the edge though so thats up to you
Googling solid top pallet will show you plastic options too which would be waterproof but will start to bend in the middle parts between where the legs touch the ground.
I agree with the rain proofing your basement. As someone that had trouble with that on my first house it can make life a nightmare when you have a wet year. Drainage ditches, clearing gutters, and dirt grading are easy ways to make sure that doesn't happen. Water in your basement can erode the foundation of the house and that can be a really serious and expensive issue.
What solution did you find for the flood issue? I live in an area where floods are possible, and I want to keep my gaming equipment safe. It’s also in the basement because there’s no room for it in the house. The basement is more or less waterproof, but I’m still worried.

How about working on waterproofing your basement instead?
I wouldn't even trust a platform to save the tower. That would always go on top of the desk if there's even the tiniest chance of flooding.
