Way too many haters on the last episode. Drogon and daenerys watched as their brother/child Rhaegal suffered a painful death with a scorpion arrow through the throat. Then, Cersei murders that ebony lady (I forget her name.. Messelei or something), so what was Cersei expecting??? I liked how this episode showed how brutally powerful Drogon was, he’s basically a Deathwing in arena.
The relentless massacre of thousands of innocent was tough to watch, but it’s GoT and this show is never easy to watch. Daenerys is becoming the new mad queen and will kill anyone in her way to reach the throne. Now the tables have turned and she is the tyrant.
and for those saying “oh the scorpions got nerfed” I mean really? Do you have any idea how hard it would be to hit a flying dragon with an oversized crossbow that is heavy and hard to maneuver? How fast does Drogon fly, like 70 km/hr? I’ve been hunting before and it wasn’t the easiest thing shooting a flying duck with a shotgun so I couldn’t imagine taking down a dragon
1. "becoming the new mad queen" In scope of 1 episode, right. Helluva character development.
2. Yet it wasn't an issue to 3 out of 3 a flying dragon just last week. From a moving fucking boat.
You're right about the show not being easy to watch though. Not for the right reasons.
Lol they got blindsided when they weren’t expecting it and were flying in a linear path. Apparently dragons are very intelligent creatures, so do you not think Drogon learned how to adapt to being shot at? For example like I don’t know maybe flying super low against the sea, always maneuvering, being very aggressive.
And also it wasn’t in one episode she turned. I think Daenerys started to change when she found out about Jon's true identity. Think about it man, she’s been basically getting shat on ever since she went north to help out.
Ok, two episodes. You won.
I mean, who cares about 7 seasons of character development, amirite? I know Jaime agrees.
My opinion won't be the most popular one. But this episode has become very philosophical.
-Varys, the king of spies. Being betrayed by his only friend. Consumed by the fire of one of the many royals and leaders he helped. -The hound; a true warrior, dies like a true warrior. -Sir Jaime and Queen Cersei Lannister, the weight of being royalty was too much them. In the end they were captives by theyre own royal status. In the end they got crushed by theyre own palace. Figurally and litterly speaking. -Euron Greyjoy dies while saying he killed Jaime Lannister. But that wasn't the case. Just shows Euron Greyjoy was all talk.
Game of thrones promised us to show us the ugly face of war and death. And they delivered.
I agree. Very good points. Especially Jaimie and Cersei dying the way you pointed out, I never thought about that.

Dany has seen and experienced some pretty horrific shit in the past 7 seasons. If you're going to argue that this is suddenly ruining her arc to have her lose her shit NOW and that it would have been more believable to have her go crazy earlier, then you would also have to argue that it would have been "sudden and ruining the character development" at literally any other time.
Jaime's makes sense because he's been with Cercei a hell of a lot longer than he's been opposing her tyrannical rule. I think in Season 8, the reality of war and the fact that he could actually lose Cercei and their unborn child starts to set in. Up until then, it's simply been "Hey Cercei stop doing bad things," and now it's "Hey Cercei, don't fucking die okay?"

Hard to get blindsided when you have the high ground. Especially when the Arrows came right from the front. I mean Dreagel was shot right in the breast. Not from behind, where the blindside is located. The thing is she could have done the same thing last episode. Accelerate 70 km/h, fly around them, burn them down. And Missandai would still be alive.
Apparently both the writers and the scorpions contracted the stormtrooper disease. In last week they picked of a dragon easily while in this, they could not aim for shit.
Also the best army in the world got picked off like rabbits.Mkay...
I wont even bother about the characters. Everyone got as retarded as the writers. The mad queen theory was one of my favourites since i finished the books but the execution was a complete disappointment.
To anyone defending this episode, forget about the books.I advise you to read the most popular fanfictions. You will realise that amateur fans have done 1000 times better job than these overpaid failures.

Jaime is more of a hero than the likes of Jon can ever be. He saw beyond loyalties and killed his own king in order to save half a million of innocent people, and he only got disrespected for it. Jon stayed loyal to Daenarys when she went mad and as a result thousands of women and children died, yet he is claimed to be honorable and true.

This is why this season has it's good sides. This seasons has so many subliminal message hidden to the eye. In the end there are no heroes in Game of Thrones. Just men and woman with their strong and weak sides.
Well this thread really speaks for itself. There are two kinds of people in this world.
People that can think creatively and independently.
These people will notice that the writing is bad but the plot is not and completely in line with how the books will end. Might be someone else in KL, fAegon or the terrifying book Euron. But Westeros will be Dany's doom, that is for sure. Her dreams about her true home and Quaithe's cryptic prophecies speak for that.
And people that can't really think much. They are like robots and only think what others, like the media, tell them to think. They can't even express themselves properly beyond their own feelings: "Dany is so pretty and her Dragons are so cute". "I like Arya she is so badass" and so on.
These people are mad because they named their daughter Caleesy.
Unfortunately the majority of people belongs to category two. This is because by expressing our feelings, we socialize and it's just much easier to do that without thinking too much as that might cause controversy.
The show dumbed down for these people, and that's it.

The show really dumbed down thats a fact. The death of littlefinger is a perfect example of that! On the other hand I really appreciate the artistic message of this season. For example Varys showing empathy for the people, claiming is on the side of the people and only of the people. At the same time he is making spies out of childeren. Risking them to be killed or worse. Just shows Varys can be a hypocrit.. But he is being a hypocrit for the right reasons.. He is willing to let childeren getting killed all for the sake of the greater good.

The best way I can put my feelings about this episode without spoilers is that the plot points are fine - predictable, even - but almost all of the writing required to get to those plot points was fucking dire.
Everything that happened this episode is fine. How it happened was some of the worst writing I've ever seen.
The books could end with the exact same plot and I'd be totally satisfied, so long as the build-up to it was handled better.
Well after the shitstains we got in the previous two weeks I didnt expect much better than what we got this week. That won’t stop me from complaining about it though.
The only good things in the episode were the visuals, sound effects, music, acting, and the scene with Jaime and Tyrion. However, it was once again all ruined by the abysmal writing. Here’s everything that I think was wrong with the episode:
Varys acted really dumb, which is not what Varys normally did (in seasons 1-4 anyway). On an island full of people who support, serve and fight for Daenerys he just straight up tells Jon that he and not Daenerys should be the ruler of the seven kingdoms. And then he’s executed. I guess that’s another character too smart for Dumb and Dumber that they don’t have to pay attention to anymore.
Tyrion had no reason to tell Daenerys that Varys (his friend) betrayed her but he still does it anyway.
Meanwhile Jon is still blindly following Daenerys because he’s ‘in love’. Yeah right fuck you.
Magically resurrected unsullied and dothraki are confirmed.
The Golden company did literally nothing.
What the hell was Tyrion doing when he was casually walking on the battlefield? Tyrion is not a soldier or commander, he’s an advisor, which means he should sit safely behind a desk while the actual soldiers and commanders do the fighting. Oh right they just wanted a pov character to show us how terrible war is because after eight seasons they still think we don’t understand that.
Drogon is once again wearing invisible armor (aka plot armor) because the previously incredibly accurate towards Rhaegal scorpions are totally missing everything and there are more of them in one place than ever before (remember when Drogon got hit by just one of them?).
Euron magically survives just so he can fight Jaime which ends up having 0 significance to the story because Jaime survives both stabs and ends up reaching Cersei anyway.
Dany going crazy for no reason at all is the dumbest shit ever. 90% of the ‘setup’ it got was in this and the previous episode and that wasn’t nearly enough to justify her becoming this crazy. Not only does she randomly become ‘mad’, she also suddenly decides to direct her madness towards AN ENTIRE CITY OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY SURRENDERED TO HER. Bull-fucking-shit.
Greyworm joining Daenerys is dumb af. ‘Ehh my hot girlfriend was murdered by your queen so now I’m going to murder you after you surrendered to me.’
The northmen and other unsullied joining is also dumb af. No way Jon and Davos are the only ones who think what is happening is horrible. Just because Daenerys suddenly decides to become a genocidal maniac her entire army suddenly decides to help her? Just, no…
Clegane bowl was kinda cool I guess except for the fact that the mountain SURVIVED A FUCKING KNIFE THROUGH HIS EYE which made no sense at all.
So Arya’s only purpose of being in king’s landing was to be a point of view character and of course she is the only one near the red keep who survives all of it because, you guessed it, fucking plot armor. There’s also no good reason Arya would suddenly decide to not go and kill Cersei after eight seasons of lying awake at night saying Cersei’s name.
Cersei’s and Jaime’s deaths were incredibly disappointing. Dumb and Dumber completely ruined Jaime’s entire character arc by making him end up at exactly the same place he started back in season 1, next to his manipulative bitch of a sister whom he still loves for no good reason at all. I guess he also just forgot about Cersei sending Bronn of all people to kill him and Tyrion in the previous episode. Jaime going to King’s Landing to kill Cersei would have been predictable but contrary to this bullshit it at least would have made some fucking sense. Instead they missed every opportunity they had at ending his arc in a positive way and gave us this lazy shit. Seriously Dumb & Dumber. Fuck. You.
Books will have nothing to do with the show. I do not understand how can u think otherwise. There is no good vs evil, there is no Night King (yet), there is no queen cercei, there is no Jon Snow, there is no Dany in Westeros and so on.
U base ur book predictions thru GoT googles, I doubt even one of many fronts will turn out the same way

D and D were told the end by Grrm.
Even if the show diffentiates, we also know for sure the following things:
1. Stannis will burn Shireen and die in the Snow.
2. Jon will be resurrected
3. R+L=J
4. Jon x Dany
5. "Bittersweet ending"
In addition many things aren't that different but were executed in a shitty way. For example Dorans game is too slow and Sneks are up to no good in the books as well. They condensed Arianne, Darkstar and Ellaria into show Ellaria, that was bad. But Dorne plot will resolve similar in the books, except for Arianne who doesn't exist in the show.
Euron might kill a Dragon because if someone can it's book Euron.
The long night will be resolved in the North. The past long night was global, the current is Westeros only and the north is huge. It might be at the neck instead of winterfell though.
Epilogue will feature fAegon instead of Cersei. Much more intriguing because fAegon is perfect, a better Daenerys without Dragons, someone beloved by the people unlike Cersei.
1. Yes, it would make it helluva more believable to lose her shit GRADUALLY. Not with a switch flip. You want an example of how to progress a character from a good person into a monster - watch Breaking Bad.
2. No, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It's once again 7 seasons of character progression thrown into a dumpster fire. Jaime didn't need to become a hero, but he needed to keep the consistency of his character. And his actions in Ep4-5 are complete nonsensical.
This pretty much sums it up. If Dany is meant to go Mad-King on us and be like her father (and with the Wildfire explosions randomly happening in the city for no reason, looks like it), that's fine, but it should have happened gradually over a few seasons. She's arguably one of the two MAIN characters, her downfall cannot be done over the course of just two episodes. Seeing Jaime and the Hound slowly go from evil to good, and Arya go from child to disturbed agent of Death, was interesting and well done because it happened slowly over seasons. You watched as the characters repeatedly had decision to make and over time, their choices changed as they progressed along their path.
Dany, as late as season 7, said "I didn't come here to be queen of the ashes." Yeah, she also liked to burn people you rather she didn't (Sam's father/brother the most notable), but the line was pretty clear. If you bent the knee or were an oppressed innocent, she gave mercy. Refuse, and you die. The line never changed for 7 seasons. It never wavered. She never once thought of killing innocents, and often went against advice just to avoid killing innocents. She f'ing stayed in Essos for /years/ to protect the innocents of the city and stabilize the area, even if it meant delaying the throne longer. Also, if she really went mad, she would have gone straight at Cersei in the tower, not burn every house in the city.
Whatever, it's all pointless talk now. Season is a failure, and the cast knew it. Just watch this:
........you've never seen someone suddenly snap and lose their shit in real life? At a certain point, you no longer can keep it together and all the emotions you've been trying to calm all come back to the surface and you stop being rational. I don't know why it's so hard to believe, since that's how it actually works.
