Does anyone know why NK was attacking? Just for sheer carnage or there's something more to it? And why he was so fixated on Bran? He wanted to just kill him (?), if so - what for? He didn't seem to do anything at all, except for sort of scouting?
Because he wants to kill Bran. I mean, don't we all?
I joined the show around the release of season 4 because all my friends started talking about it and didn't want to miss out. I was very Young back then and had a lot of free time- I binge watched the first season with my brother and that was it- we were in. I wasn't a fan of gore, violence and all the goodies of the show but I somehow immediately feel gripped by the way the story is told: there is no main character ( i was "spoiled" about that) and you decide onto whom give attention and credit. I probably changed my favourite characters like 7 times troughout all the season.
Also the show is anti-retorical and anti-heroical and even if i'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan I appreciated that twist.
I lived this series more as a social experience to be honest: we would watch the episodes; chat about it ; gather with friends to watch the show- which is something "we" could have done with any series (we did it with Breaking Bad and Black Sails for example)
Maybe it was due to me aging and getting more mature but I lost progressively interest in the series. The plot was getting blatant and obvious (i knew they stopped following the books because there was no material) and couch-watching with friends was the only thing that had me continuing the series (if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have finished season 7) Now i'm currently watching season 8 alone just out of curiosity and to avoid spoiler which is pretty ridiculous if you think about it.
I recently made a small rewatch (from s3 to s5) with my GF that had never seen the series and I must say that i'm still convinced about one thing: it is more of a social experience for me, pretty weird.
I don't love to talk anymore as once i used to about series and stuff (like Conspiracy teories etc) but with her it was funny, maybe because I already knew what was going on (Watch her live reaction to episode 3x9, 4x2, 4x9 and 4x10 was priceless)
---------------
Regarding the episode 8x3:
I think it was very good for one simple reason: I felt I was there. It was claustrophobic. I never felt that bad since I watched for the first time the original "Alien". I honestly didn't like that all those great plots were going to end "at random" because a Big Bad Evil Guy appeared but it depicted perfectly one thing: War.
War doesn't give a shit about your background and how you winded up in it, it just comes. And it takes. I was never interested in the "zombie" saga to be honest and i'm happy it ended and how it ended, unfortunately we aren't going back to good old politics and scheeming (but this was to be expected after Littlefinger Death)
Let's be honest here, 10's of Millions of fans can't all be wrong. Right? 🤔
That kind of logic has never worked for me. If you didn't like the first few seasons, you won't like the books. The shows only started derailing in major ways starting from the identity of Rob's wife in season 3
Then there's the fact that none of the characters gripped me. After a couple of hours of watching any show you should have at least some idea of favourites or characters that you want to see die in a cloud of body parts. I felt none of that.
That's probably your problem. I hated Star Wars, I hated LotR, I hated most of the Marvel movies. Not trying to be edgy; I tried my best to like them but I just don't. One of the things they had in common is that I didn't like any of the characters and therefore wasn't interested in seeing them succeed/struggle
This is actually one of the strengths of GoT. There's such a huge variety of personalities that it's hard not to find one you really like. Maybe you quit too soon? I can't remember what was happening in S01E03 but you should at least get to know the characters in King's Landing. There's also such a large volume of important people that it probably takes awhile to show what's the deal with each of them
I don't know what happened with you, but the ending of the pilot episode was meant to you hook you and keep you watching until the next major twist at the end of season. By then, all the characters should be established properly and you should have favorites
I've tried to like it, I really have. It's got Violence, Dragons, Intrigue, Nudity, Booze and Midgets. Everything I love about life
IMO, it's more about intrigue than anything. The dragons don't show up until later and they were never a major draw. There's violence, but what makes the deaths super impactful is the fact that the people dying all have at least a little backstory and personality. It hurts more because we see them as human, not just faceless mobs exploding into gore. If this kind of "violence" doesn't translate well for you, then maybe that's another reason you're not enjoying it
The more i think about it, the more i hate this episode. I just hope our lord and savior Bolas invades the plane of westeros and kills everyone with his eternal army. This show has become a poorly made fanfiction anyway.

Huh. You just made me realise that War of the Spark has a lot of analogues for this most recent episode. Few lore-important characters dying, zombie army that stops attacking once the main bad-guy is dealt with, Dragons on both sides, immortal character dying to protect the killer of the bad-guy. I'm sure if I knew more about Magic's overall lore I could say more, but I don't =P
I truly do not understand the hate for Ep 3 or wanting to ruin it for yourself by finding insignificant details to nitpick about.
The episode was awesome, GoT in your great moments.
Only thing REALLY bother me is what one character said in episode 2, if kill the Night King solve everything he don't will expose.
That is it, why the fuck that bastard exposed yourself in the battlefield? Just keep raising the dead, two or in absolute last case four waves of corpses and nothing stands and AFTER that he can just do everything he want to Brann.
Is HBO just going to cut the azor ahai prophecy? Cause Arya doesn't really fit, and I think they're just going to pretend like the prophecy never existed and hope the average viewer doesn't notice.
Other than that I don't have a huge gripe with ep 3, but this detail bothered me. Hopefully they will fix it in the coming episodes, but I'm not too optimistic.

Please, use spoilers.
If I'm not mistaken, the only character in the show who is aware about the profecy is Melissandre, and she is very prone to reinterpret it as the events unfold. For instance, she was so sure Stannis was the Azor Ahai, but after he died, she shifted her belief to Jon... Who did not kill the Night King (even if he did a superb job at gathering tropes to battle his forces).
So yeah, I'd say the show was trying to tell us that the profecy is just Melissandre's zealous ravings. Which is pretty inline with the narrative of GoT, if you ask me.
Woo, finally managed to catch the episode, what a night to get sick. Obviously, spoilers below.
That Jaime heel-turn was very unexpected. I'm almost confident that it's a fake-out - he's not going to King's Landing to try and save Cersei, but to kill her. The speech was to stop Brienne from following him. At least, I hope that's it - that's some pretty up-and-down writing on him if it isn't.
Daenerys finally showing the full extent of her madness is very good, I'm glad they're not shying away from how terrible a ruler she is shaping up to be. I'm convinced she'll die before the end - now all that's left to be seen is if she gets a Hero's Death or if it's her madness that will be her downfall.
Lots of sweet little moments - Arya rejecting Gendry; Sansa and the Hound; Arya and the Hound; Drunk Brienne; saying goodbye to Sam, Gilly, Ghost and Tormund (which I guess is about as guaranteed 'not dead' as you can get now).
Missandei dying, while not unexpected after her capture, confirms my suspicions that so many people lived past Episode 3 because they want to space out the deaths where they can - obviously we also got Rhaegal getting shot down too. I get it, it'd be shit TV to watch 3 or 4 main characters for the last three episodes face off against Cersei, whatever.
Now, I know that Euron isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I expected at least a confused reaction shot of him when Tyrion mentioned Cersei's pregnancy - from Euron's perspective, believing it to be his child, shouldn't Tyrion have no idea about it, given that they only had sex after everyone had left King's Landing?
If I had to make a prediction for the upcoming episodes - first episode is Daenerys and Co. failing to defeat Cersei, with the second episode having our stragglers swoop in for the kill; Arya and the Hound tag team Frankenstein, and Jamie merks Cersei. Other than that, who knows what's going to happen. I couldn't even begin to predict deaths at this point.
Overall, I thought this was a great episode. It's definitely a different pace than the last one, which could throw you off even if you didn't like Episode 3, but I liked what they set up and I think the characterisation for the most part has been pretty good.
Feels like reading boring history books right now: but not the show to blame: too much native ads from hundreds of companies + tons of prediction videos. I spoilt myself (.
I refuse to believe that Dany did not see Eugon's ships from the dragon's shoulders. Also, why Missandei did not take cersei and jumped off the edge to end the war? Also, nice starbuck Dany, I hope you enjoyed your coffee.

Cry me a river about GoT. It is all about what you expect from it.
Always expect the unexpectable!

Ok, while ep3 had at least some, not much, redeeming qualities, ep4 is straight up garbage. Pathetic.
Only a couple things I didn't like about ep 4.
- wtf Jaime?
- holy shit they have a lot of those dragon killing crossbows....pretty crap to have the dragon taken out so easily like that
- bron, really? that was kind of shit move. also seems kind of out of character.
That's pretty much it. I enjoyed the rest of it, and I'm looking forward to ep 5 and 6.

That sums it up, unfortunately, and right now I don't expect the last two episodes to be any better.
In death, I exact my revenge!
This was the best episode in this season so far. What’s wrong with you guys?

Varys was the best part of this episode. Glad to see his character still going strong.
Really? I thought it was out of character to do that now.
