I'm just curious how everyone got into Hearthstone. Did a friend get you into the game? Did you watch a lot of streams? I know a lot of people found it because they've played Blizzard games in the past, and a lot of people started in beta.
Me? I am a big Phillip DeFranco fan (YouTuber), and I was watching one of his daily vlogs. There was one vlog where he was teaching his newborn baby how to play a game. That game happened to be Hearthstone. And that is the story of how I found Hearthstone.
I found Hearthstone on my iPad back in July. I was browsing the Top Charts as I often do, and stumbled across Hearthstone in the high 60s. As my gaming skills are limited to the App Store, I had no idea this game was so big/competitive or even WoW related. For the first few weeks I played solely on my iPad and reached Rank 14 with my own Gadgetzan Druid deck. But as I wanted to improve my skills, I just typed in Hearthstone into YouTube. There I found Trump, and then Amaz, and then Twitch.tv, and then Twitch Chat. I knew Twitch was a thing, but I never had a reason to visit until Hearthstone. Now I love following the Hearthstone tourneys and players, and I actually play the game on an actual computer. I remember I spent most of my September on Twitch just watching all of the Tourneys that happened in like a 2 week period (VGVN, Lord of the Arena, Jeoparino, Hearthstats, Deck Wars, Blizzcon EU Qualifiers).
My brother, a WoW player since vanilla, told me about it the day before open beta started. A couple hundred bucks and ten months later. I'm still loving it. By far the best money I've spent on gaming since the Sid Meier's Pirates! reboot in 2004. I played MTG Revised 20 years ago when I was in high school. I gave up Magic not long after the Fallen Empires expansion came out, but the similarities and the fact that I knew a Blizzard product would be a quality game drew me in.

This. Would've never thought I'd get into Hearthstone as I'd never been really into card games in my short fourteen year life so far, but I did—very much so. :]
Its kind off interesting. I started playing Magic since 2011. Around July 2013, one of my friends told me about Hearthstone since he new I lived Magic and he thought I would be into it. I completely forgot about the game until around November of the same year when I saw my roommate playing the game. its almost like the game was chasing me. I got my account on december and never looked back.
I use to play WOW and saw people talking about HS in trade chat. I played WOW for 10 years and quit so I could focus on HS and becoming good at not just two or three classes, but all nine. I am progressing quite well and I thank Blizz for helping me break my WOW addiction. Unlike WOW, with HS I can turn off the game at any second and have no commitments, yet I get full enjoyment ( along with my gaming crave ) out of the way as well.
Makes me wonder if anyone else quit WOW to free up more spare time in their life, and also to become a better HS player.
Well, myself, I always check out Blizzard games... Big fan since Warcraft 2 I think! Also, played magic since 6th edition (1999 I believe). Nowadays, I only play commander (EDH) sporadically. Hearthstone almost replaced it!
I log in to clear some MP10 crypts on Diablo 3 back in the 1.0 era and it tells me HS is now open beta. Having played MtG from 94-96 I figured I would give it a try.

I was actually research how to create a CCG/TCG game so in reading articles on the internet about it, one of them mentioned Hearthstone as a good example of a CCG. I was bored one day so I looked it up and the rest is history!
My friend and fellow Kaijudist Spencer Swan convinced me the game was insanely good and I had to give it a try. I actually tried it once during the beta and didn't much care for it, but tried to get into it about four months ago again and got hooked.
A couple of days before the start of open beta there was an article on IGN about hearthtone entitled "The only game you will ever need".
Let's just say i've played all kinds of games in my life (i'm 29) and since i found hearthstone i didn't play anything else. I never played any blizzard game before because they are not cheap but this one i can actually play for free and be competitive. I didn't know twitch existed, i didn't know about blizzcon, i've never played other TCG because they are also expensive (i always wanted to try magic), i've never been so focused in a single game my entire life.
And the best part is that is not as time consuming as a RPG. I can just log on every three days, do the daily quests and i'm good.

My Facebook feed got flooded by my MtG friends comparing HS to MtGonline, so I got curious.
My friend told me about it cause he had it on his iPad, his battle tag was/is sloth so of course my battle tag is Slothslayer

Reckful and his streams.
I've moved this thread to off-topic.
Also, a friend of mine showed me the game, and, having been a long-time MtG veteran and ex-WoW player, I was instantly intrigued :)
