Glad England vs Sweden is done, I was more worried about them than Colombia or Croatia. Even if they're not the greatest team out there, we've had a pretty bad record against them and they tend to do us in more often than not.
I don't think Croatia have been very impressive in their games against Denmark and Russia, but they did great in the group stages, so we'll see on Wednesday. Despite One_Man_Army's frankly moronic comment, this is knockout stage football and nothing is granted.

England managed to beat the three bad teams and lose to the two strong teams in their 5-game World Cup 2018.
Reaching semi finals sounds impressive but not when you lose whenever you face a half decent opponent.

First thing to say is to congratulate Croatia. They turned the game around very well and I wish them well in the final. England should have nailed the game in the first half and we contributed to our own downfall. BUT more importantly then that we didn't have the experience or the savvy to compete with Croatia. We weren't embarrassed nor did we look out of depth. The first goal was entirely preventable I think but I give credit to a classy finish. Stones header at the end of the normal time could have changed the complexion of this game entirely but it wasn't to be.
I've worked in English football (Premier League, Division One) in London for 8 years and most fans would accept that England over performed in this tournament. We can only play what's in front of us. Personally I just enjoyed the games they've played in, enjoyed the very new identity that Southgate has given them and have thought that it's a very un-British style. Watching France play yesterday was a joke. Kylian Mbappe dribbling the ball away in ET during a Belguim thow. Umtiti going to ground everytime someone touched him. For a team of their class to resort to such tactics is galling. I hope they don't resort to type.
One closing thought for English football. In the last few years: -
We've (the English FA) have taken AGES to come up with a cohesive football strategy for the development of the national sides, such as the ones that Germany and Spain developed. This World Cup and the results highlighted above do rather fill me with confidence that we're onto something positive in the future. I'm a bit disappointed today sure but think things are looking much rosier in the future.

Exactly, should be a great game too...as for our finals, I am a bit afraid if we've depleted our energy with 3 ET games in a row...hopefully we'll get revenge over France in spite that.

England was very dangerous in the first half, you were just faster than us and the goal was a superbly taken freekick...in the other half of the game, we've been far better than in the 1st, despite some of our players weaker performances in this tournament (Strinić for example).

PremiumSlaven Bilic gave a great interview on British coverage, very fair. Said that it took Croatia a while to work out the English shape. Once that had been achieved. Well, the result was clear. I didn't get to watch the whole thing as I was flying back home after HTC Italy but I didn't see any unfair or foul play on the Croatian play. I'm very pleased with that.

Great run by the lads. Funny how some are saying it was the only good team we came up against, when we smashed a team in the previous round that had knocked out Italy and the Netherlands during qualifiers, and topped a group with the current World Champions and Mexico in it. Bit dumb to say Sweden are a shit team, isn't it?
Anyway, fitness was a massive issue here, which I didn't think would be one for us, however it's a gruelling tournament and the boys just weren't ready. Tactics were off too, and the careless passing around the defence was really, really risky and telling. Don't understand how RLC wasn't brought on instead of Dier; he was exactly what was needed at the time. Congrats to Croatia, they've been the most solid overall team all tournament and I'm happy for them, a well deserved final, and will be the team I cheer on in the final. Modric is just a wonderful little player, and the squad was so impressive to keep that intensity going through to the final whistle, after 360 minutes of football in the span of a few days.
Onwards and upwards... we have young teams coming through the ranks that have won trophies on the trot, we'll be back stronger!
I wasn't planning on going for a run today. But those cops came out of nowhere.
I saw the match, was actually really good!! I like what England's team can became. They didn't play a good match, got lost somewhere in the middle of the game and stopped having good gola chances... Many young players that will learn from this WC.
On the other hand, Croatia played an excellent wc so far. Besides my dear argentina played awful, their match against us was well thought and played...
Can't wait for Saturday and Sunday's matches!!!
It was indeed a better world cup for England this time in Russia. Although unable to win the cup is a total failure on their side since they had the opportunity because of the early elimination of the big guns from the tournament.
