Hi guys, it was my birthday yesterday and my wife surprised me with a PS4 Pro, I haven't owned a console since 2005 and it was the PS2, I turned 30 and looking for tips on the PS4, what it can do, and what I should play (buy). I currently have no games. I used to love the Final Fantasy Series, played from FFI to FFX and loved them all. (FFX-II not that much). I also loved kingdom hearts and other RPGs, I'm not that into FPS games but maybe i could give one a try. I like games with good music and story and graphics. I want to buy 3 games
1. A sport game (Madden or FIFA)
2. A good single player game (a good RPG, fantasy or FPS game)
3. A game to play with the wife, (the equivalent to mario kart or something fun she and I can enjoy).
We still don't have any kids so this is for me my friends and the wife. Thanks for the tips. I have a 4k tv and wifi.
If you enjoyed fantasy game with good music there is also Devil May Cry or Witcher as was mentioned above. Personally i played witcher for 15 minutes and never play again.. too boring for me, i need action from begining of game, not long dialogues etc.. for playing with wife and friends maybe some Just dance? If you already have PC try some PS exxclusive games for example Horizon Zero Dawn.. Great RPG and you cant play it on PC. Or wait until Red Dead Redemption 2. From sport idk.. I play only Rocket League - football with cars where everything depend only on your skill.. No rng, no luck etc... new players have always same chance like 2years old users.. everything depends on skill
For a great single player RPG fantasy game I hands down recommend you get the Witcher 3 game of the year edition, if you havent played it yet. It might be the best game I ever played.
nice! Do I need to play 1 or 2 before to get the story?

If you like Batman, I would also go with Arkham Knight because the PC port was probably one of the worst ports of this decade (the game is fine on consoles thoug, which is why I got platin in it). Also, I agree on Withcer 3, that's one masterpiece of an RPG. If you want a fun game to play with your wife, maybe Little Big Planet is your thing, there is at least one entry from the series for the PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn and InFamous Second Son are also nice exclusives. Also, if you're looking into a heavy story driven game, then maybe the Heavy Rain/Beyond: Two Souls Collection is also recommended. You're basically playing through interactive movies with many different outcomes depending on your decisions. But since you said you haven't owned a console since 2005, maybe it's the right time to invest into Naughty Dog's titles like Uncharted and The Last of Us which all happen to be ported to the PS4, too.
Also I can recomned to buy PS+.. it is not so expensive (maybe 5bucks/month) and you can play multiplayer + there is every month 3-4 free games. Sometimes there are really good games
I mostly play single player games on mine, and hands down the best stort I have witnessed in games is in The Last of Us. The characters, environment and storyline are so well put together, this game nearly had me crying and someone's death. (And that's quite something)
The Uncharted collection and Uncharted 4 are also great buys with a compelling story.
For a game to play with her... the ps4 doesnt have many split-screen multiplayers. However, you could try Limbo and Inside as interesting puzzle games (platformer) which I enjoyed alot with my girl. Currently she is playing Child of Light, a Playstation 4 Plus free game this month.
I don't know why someone would mention Bloodborne, but not Dark Souls 3 . I think the Dark Souls is a little bit easier to someone who never played any souls game since Bloodborne lacks the shield mechanic. Another difference is the setup. Bloodborne has a victorian charme mixed with werewolfs and C'thullu Monsters while Dark Souls has a medieval theme and generally more "normal" fantasy monsters (Dragons, undead, Knights) Both games are challenging and really rewarding when you beat them.
Thanks! That's a big list! I got an idea. So I'll use the free month for ps4 plus and the games you guys suggested are as follow:
Solo:
Witcher 3 game of the year edition, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Bloodborne and Devil May Cry got multiple mentions, so I'll check this ones first.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Bioshock series, Persona 5, Arkham Knight, Infamous second son, Heavy Rain/Beyond: Two souls collection, Destiny 2, Gwent, Dark Souls 3 are other mentions.
To play with the wife: Overcooked and Little Big Planet got multiple mentions. And you also mentioned: Just dance, Dangerous Golf, Lego games, Limbo, Inside and the PS Plus suscription.
For sports: Rocket League, Fifa 18 and Nba 2k18... no Madden :(

Bloodborne's setting and atmosphere is miles ahead and considerably more unique. IMO the experience Bloodborne provides the player is far more memorable than any Dark Souls game.
If you like Skyrim or have been meaning to try it, then I'm kinda sorry for you.... Playstation only allow 1G of mod memory and they don't allow the mods to have anything which has assets from outside the game, so basically it's worthless.
If you have no problem with playing skyrim SE without any mods though, then be my guest /:

My top games for PS4 are definately horizon zero dawn and bioshock series.
Fiffa 18, persona 5 and overcooked
about 1 & 2 witcher, they are PC exclusive, and withcer's 3 story continues story of first 2 games
but, developers made a good job, that if u play 3rd witcher, w/o playing 2, u won't be lost in story
TK;DR: playing 1&2 isn't a must, but advisable
Sell or return it and use the money to buy hearthstone packs. You can even open them together with your wife.

Witcher 3 is a real gem, personally i really liked the "field detective" aspects of some of the quests.
TBH i don't know much PS4 games, but my wife really likes the "little big planet" series and it's actually quite fun.
Also: Happy Birthday!
Question everything.
