I've had terrible win rates with it for like the last 1½ month, so even before the nerf happened, even though before that I had like 60% win rate. Now it's at like 40%.
I'm using this deck, which I found on hsreplay a while ago which was in use on streams:
Well, the meta changes and hl mage cannot compete against the many aggro decks in today’s meta as it’s strong late game, and you are dead before you reach 10 mana. If you think that these aggro decks make up c. 50% of the ppl you play against ( I’m guessing here) then this may explain the high loss ratio

Yeah, there are a lot of aggro/midrange decks which I lose against, but I don't understand how it can be weak against them with so many tools like frost nova+doomsayer, rolling fireball, combustion, Firebrand, Zephrys etc. Should be able to deal with everything up to 10 mana and then steamroll.
If you really enjoy playing highlander mage - you could try small highlander instead of big highlander. But no-minion mage, small spell mage might perform better. I can't recommend mozaki-OTK mage but I had some success with naga-otk mage if you like to play mage.
All in all, I reached D5 this time with priest instead of mage because of so many hunters/dhs.

Aggro decks lately have far more reach damage. DH, for instance, doesn't really care so much if you can stall their board.
