Greetings again. This is an update to my previous thread asking for advice. I tried posting a reply on that thread, but the thread mysteriously vanished. Hate those web gremlins. Anyway, as a reminder, this is my current arena deck:
I appreciate the advice I received on my initial post, it has served me well. I am currently 4-0, with wins over a shaman, mage, another shaman, and a pally. I've been fortunate to pull my Flamestrike in every match, and so far my Big Game Hunter has bagged a taunted Fossilized Devilsaur and a Force-Tank MAX. I will keep you posted on my progress. Thanks again for the advice!
2 more wins, taking me to 6-0. This is starting to freak me out a bit. Beat a rogue and another pally. Had a bit of luck with the pally, I had lost the board and was staring at a North Sea Kraken with no counter except hit it with my Water Elemental to live one more turn... and then I top-decked my Fireball and he had 6 health. The rogue? Rolled that game, had tempo from the start and never let go.
Question for the community: how many of you play your Flamestrike on curve at 7 mana? So far I have been in situations good enough that I could wait a turn or two, often resulting in my opponent over-extending, allowing me to get 4-, 5-, or even 6-1 for it. What about you guys?

about flamestrike, it always depends on the board, if I can clear the board on turn 7 i use it, if it just kills 1 or 2 minions from a total of 5 or more, and I am far from taking lethal, i might wait one turn...
The thing with flamestrike is to help you trade effectively and gain a huge amount of cardadvantage... Its always situational...
When you hear the term "on curve" it only applies to playing minions. Don't be the guy that uses arcane missiles on turn 1. Try to maximize value when it comes to spells.

Never use a flamestrike on an empty board!
except in the freeze mage mirror match kappa

Looks like a pretty decent mage draft. Also, it has a Fallen Hero which is a card that can be a pain to work around if you are able to coin it out on the first turn.

I managed that one of my games. It was immediately silenced by an Ironbeak Owl. Cést la vie.

2 more games, but not so much joy. 6-2 now. Played against a pally who started strong and never slowed down, and losing most of a turn to a disconnect pretty much sealed it. I also misplayed when he dropped a North Sea Kraken-used my Big Game Hunter instead of Hemet Nesingwary. So that went poorly. 2nd loss was a rogue who had a good curve and my starting hand was nothing but 4 cost cards. That spiraled quickly.
Does arena work similar to a bracket? Are opponents totally random, or does it try to match similar current win totals?

North Sea Kraken is not a beast, so BGH was actually the correct play.
