Seriously the Tavern Brawl is one of the highlights of my gaming each week - I LOVE it - but this week - no! I have the gold to spend but find it tedious and annoying to have to build a new deck every 3 games. May play a few more games of it this week but would much rather have our regular tavern brawl - disappointed this week :(
It's extremely poor timing by Blizzard. The excessive cost just isn't worth it when we are a couple of weeks away from a whole new expansion.
I know where I'd rather be spending my money! Some of those new cards look amazing. Perhaps Blizz did this to empty everybody out so they are forced to pay for Gadgetzan, who knows?
It's actually very good timing for the reason you stated..."to empty everyone out so they're forced to pay for Gadgetzan". They know what they're doing.
I'm surprised they haven't made this permanent rather than just this week although it might not be crowded enough with enough people playing HTB if they left it there everyday.
I want to try it out, but 1000g is quite a bit of gold. I read somewhere that if you haven't reached Legend, you shouldn't try it out. How true is that statement?
So, I've concluded my run. Went to four wins before a fucking Shaman ended it.
Could be worse in the long run. But at least my gamble paided off since one of the packs had a Yogg in it, who I've been meaning to get back after I dusted him in the nerf.
So, how would I rate the experience? It was amazing...the times I wasn't fighting a Shaman that is. Those who skipped it, you made the right choice. The Heroic Brawl had so much potential if it wasn't for the fact that the meta is fucking broken thanks to Shamans.
Would I ever do it again? Probably not unless they made drastic changes. 1,000 gold is too much. If it was 500 gold then maybe I would agree with the concept. But the bigger issue is this shouldn't be a Tavern Brawl. Tavern Brawls are for wacky and new rules each week, where anyone, regardless of skill or cards, could play, and even Blizzard said this themselves that's what the mode is for. Heroic Brawl would've worked if it was it's own gamemode, but instead it was wasted in the way they handled it.
To many ramblings about how bad this brawl. But lets look on it in another perspective. It's tests tournament variant of play and blizzard want to test it in real life. Is it good? Yes, it's good. Is it to much of a cost? Not at all. Why I think so? Because it's competative brawl, if you can't handle it -- just don't play. It's obvious.

Only tournaments have rules that prevent you from constantly playing the same thing. When you allow everyone to play the same deck all the time they only need to take the most powerful list that wins against most of the others, most of the time and they are good to go. In the worst case scenario they will be facing mirrors where the draw and rng will be the ultimate judge. In that regard this is not a good test nor a good brawl.
Nearly everyone would be motivated by a giant bonus (a handful might not) and as long as people are governed by greed...people in decision-making roles will make decisions that benefit themselves over staff or customers first, but in this case...Blizzard is merely capitalizing on the bone-heads who like to gamble on big rewards...they're taking a lesson from Vegas...that city was built on the money from bone-heads who like big rewards.
So in this case...no one is likely to be taking home a giant bonus...they're just copying the success of Vegas...so the Heroic Tavern Brawl is pure genius except for the fact that it is only temporary, but I'm sure it will return after they see the response.
You know who else capitalizes on bone-heads? Con artists. Swindlers. Scammers.
Something i'm confused about, if i pay the 1000g do i get access to ALL cards to build my 30 card deck?
Or am i paying 1000g for the privilege to play with my collection that doesn't even have all the basic class cards to go up against people slinging legendary's like their silverhand recruits?
I want to try it out, but 1000g is quite a bit of gold. I read somewhere that if you haven't reached Legend, you shouldn't try it out. How true is that statement?
I wouldn't say you need to have reached legend to do well, but a thorough understanding of matchups and the meta is a big plus.
Record against shamans is 8-1 by the way, with the one loss being extremely close. I had a loss in each of my runs against a tempo mage and an anyfin paladin, the 2nd anyfin I almost won, after I included a tinkmaster instead of shield block.
If it wasn't for streamers i would probably be disappointed but those gladiators entertain us the plebs so theres that ;)
Theres thread on the main page of HS reddit made by a guy who gathers streamers in his thread and update the scores regularly, just check once in a while who have the highest win count and tune in.
guys just a quick warn .. dont play this .. i spent 2k gold and play reno lock with current meta deck ( http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/664356-in-depth-guide-renolock ). i got 5 packs some dust and gold .. zero legendaries .. and i played all the game vs shaman .. except one game was vs priest. this is very bad from blizzard.
I spent 1000gold (one round) - won two, and lost 3. Got 125 dust, 4 packs (with a golden rare, and fandral) and 150-ish gold. Met 1 tempo mage, 2 freeze mage and facehunter and one shaman. It's ok.

Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.
I think it's interesting how there are only extremes of either side; either you really like it or you really hate it. I can see the hate if you're missing out on a free pack if you're a F2P player but there's about the same amount of those as it is the people who played this TB. It's also interesting that some of you who played this rolled with unfavourable decks (i.e Renolock when there's plenty of shaman and quite a few Anyfins) proceed to complain about how much of a goldsink it is and how no-one should enter. It's a risk-reward, if you're upset you lost this type of thing probably isn't for you.
Look, I want to tell you something because you're very dear to me. And I hope you understand that it comes from the bottom of my damaged, damaged heart. You are the finest piece of ass I've ever had and I don't care who knows it. I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides.
Love this ! :) One of the funniest times i had with Hearthstone, so thrilling ! :) And with all the golden legendarys and packs i don't have to pay anything for the next expansion :) Hopefully there will be more of this in the future ! I really like it that blizzard is doing a brawl for competitive players :) In the future it would be nice to see heroic and normal brawls at the same time so that every player type is happy and the forum is not full of negativity from the casual players.

My results from tonight. I hope to see more tournament formats.

If you say LUL in Twitch chat you are a moron. If you do it outside of Twitch - even more so!

It's more or less paid Standard. You play with what you have.

My 2 runs
I played control warrior, here's the list:

Just saw some friend going 6-3, getting Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale and Deathwing, Dragonlord :|
Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
