22nd December update: Testing Duwin's WILD Undatakah Control Warrior: An excuse to play Justicar :-)
Duwin (https://twitter.com/duwinhs) has come up with another interesting deck. Control Warrior with Da Undatakah! Da Undatakah benefits from the Direhorn and Sylvanas deathrattles. The Deathlord Deathrattle isn't too bad either - it can speed up your opponent's chances of fatigue. Brann and the banker are great with N'Zoth. Dead Man's Hand gives you awesome value too. My first ranked game with this deck was against Dragon Priest. In the end, he simply gave up - I assume he had run out of threats. This deck does a great job of running aggro and mid-range decks out of threats, forcing a concede. Oh, and any excuse to play Justicar Trueheart! Welcome to the Grand Tournament!
23rd December update: Solem's WILD Dragon Evenlock: Huffer trading into taunts feels good! (1080p)
A new fun and innovative deck from a really cool Twitch streamer - Solem (https://www.twitch.tv/solem_hs). He just completed a 24 hour wild stream, and inspired me to try out his Dragon Evenlock!
25th December update: ShenGaoren's WILD Tempo Warrior: Pressuring Big Priests & Even Shamans! (1080p)
Time for something a little different. A constant stream of rush and charge minions. This deck specialises in keeping the pressure up. Capable of beating wild tier 1 meta decks? Absolutely. Prince Keleseth buff on 2. Dr Boom on 7. Gromm / Deathsbite surprise lethals - just like the good old days. Countess Ashmore provides a much needed hand re-fill.
Merry Christmas everyone, and thank you for all of your support. Thank you to ShenGaoren for this deck.
26th December update: Killer Racoon's WILD Tempo Pirate Rogue - Captain Hooktusk is awesome! (1080p)
Card draw and board presence. This deck excels at keeping the pressure up. It is also something different and refreshing. Captain Hooktusk is awesome. Thanks to Killer Racoon for this deck! One card I am not sure about is Griftah... perhaps another pirate would be better instead of this card?
27th December update: Zul'jin Secret Hunter to Rank 1 (Standard): Causing concedes with Flare! (1080p)
I really enjoy playing Zul'jin. So I am revisiting Kolento's deck from a couple of weeks ago - but this time, adding in Flare and Crushing Walls. Flare is doing some great work for me - since I have been facing so many secret hunters. I have removed one copy of Tracking and one copy of Baited Arrow. I find that Flare and Crushing Wallks worked better when played with Zul'jin.
28th December: Windfury on Highmanes gets me legend on Standard for the first time! (Deathtar's Beast Hunter) (1080p)
Whilst I have been legend on Wild several times, I made it to legend for the first time on Standard earlier this week. Beast Hunter is pretty good! - especially when you keep getting Windfury on Highmanes, in nearly every game through rank 1!
Windfury highlights: 10:15 Second time lucky! 16:19 Windfury breaks through taunts and lets you go face :-) 21:10 An insane finish to get legend - he left the Highmane alive - what a mistake!
29th December update: Control's Pirate Rogue: Bullying Big Priests & getting bullied by Reno Mage (1080p)
I really enjoyed playing KilleRacoon's Tempo Pirate Rogue from last week. In this video, we play a slightly faster deck - Control's Pirate Rogue - with Ship's Cannon and Kingsbane! Yes, I hated Kingsbane Rogue in wild due to Leeching Poison. However, with the nerf to Leeching Poison, Kingsbane seems reasonable now - powerful but not broken. Feels good.
30th December update: CloudyHS WILD Reno Yogg Shudderwock Shaman: Making greedy plays to bully Big Priests! (1080p)
Time for something completely different and fun. Reno Jackson's battlecry and Yogg's battelcry mixed with Shudderwock. Seems pretty awesome! I have no idea what I was doing... greedy plays with some risk taking, but I was able to beat Big Priest into submission. Feels amazing.
Thanks to Ginger Ninja for recommending this deck. An interesting deck to play in standard - with Bloodlust as a possible finisher. I was fortunate enough to get awesome Kalimos value in this video - one of my favourite cards!
My misplay at the end with Unbound Elemental could have helped to end the game 1 turn earlier. Regardless, the ability of this deck to go super wide on the board and go face with buffed minions (via Bloodlust and Flametongue totem) makes it viable.
If you have any questions about this deck, Ginger Ninja will answer them in the comments section below. Check him out on Twitch if you are interested in horror games (https://www.twitch.tv/the_ginger_ninja).
1st January 2019 update: KilleRacoon's Freeze Mage - Welcoming 2019 with Malygos and Antonidas! (1080p)
Happy New Year everyone! We enter 2019 by profiling an interesting deck, recommended by KilleRacoon (a friend and wild mode legend player). This looks like a typical Freeze Mage on initial viewing - however, you then see cards like Luna's Pocket Galaxy, Malygos and Frost Lich Jaina! A very interesting twist! The deck aims to play Pocket Galaxy and get Malygos and Antonidas down to 1 cost. The Emperor can discount the cost of your spells. You can then go crazy with fireworks. Jaina gives you a chance to survive for longer.
4th January update: Gerald's WILD Umbra Renolock with Primordial Drake - who needs Mal'Ganis? (1080p)
Thanks to Gerald for this Renolock deck. Proof that Renolock without all of the best cards can still be an effective deck. If you don't have Mal'Ganis, if you don't have Godfrey, you can still substitute in other cards that still have an impact! I really do like the inclusion of Primordial Drake in this deck.
5th January update: Dane's Reno Hunter: Strange times on ladder, with Mecha'thun & Charging Pirates
Reno Hunter doesn't feel as strong as Renolock, but Master's Call can help with the card draw problem. It was the end of the December season, and the ladder was a little crazy - losing to Mecha'thun Warlock felt bad. Still as each expansion passes, Reno Hunter gets a little stronger!
6th January update: GetMeowth's Renolock: Who needs N'Zoth when you have Azari the Devourer? (1080p)
On the first few days of any season, the meta is usually very aggressive. In this video, I try out Getmeowth's Renolock - without N'Zoth. It turned out to be a good decision! Rin was able to get me some awesome value, with Azari wrecking the hopes and dreams of a Reno Priest. Against a Hunter, I wasn't thrilled with how I played the end of the game, but in the end, the seals from Rin helped to threaten some good pressure, even with DK Rexxar in play. The decision to simply burst down the Hunter with a Kazakus potion worked out in the end.
12th January update: Duwin's WILD Leeroy Secrets Hunter: Savage Roar + The Rope = Disaster (1080p)
Something new from DuwinHS (https://twitter.com/DuwinHS) - Secrets, Azalina and Leeroy! A really fun deck to play, and they never see Leeroy coming :-) I felt bad for the Druid at the end - he let the rope burn for too long and couldn't get all of his hits in with Savage Roar.
I watched TRiPz playing his version of Odd Rogue on stream (https://www.twitch.tv/tripizsick). Zilliax is a cool inclusion! This is the first time I have tried to use Odd Rogue to rank up. Considering that Rogue is my least played class, I was certainly happy with the winrate and results. Even drawing Patches in hand didn't hurt too much! A super strong deck that performs well on the ladder. In particular, Loatheb on 5 before a Big Priest can Shadow Essence on 6 has been great for me.
19th January update: Iridean's WILD Jade Aggro Druid – When Token Druid morphs into Jade Druid! (1080p)
Time for something different. Initially, the deck looks like a simple Token Druid. Your opponents will spend their resources clearing board and killing small tokens. Then suddenly, big Jade Golems start to appear! Surprise! The deck morphs into Jade Druid!
20th January update: Standard Secrets Paladin - Thanks for buffing my Secret Keeper! (1080p)
Over to Standard mode to try out a fun Secrets Paladin deck, that runs Thrallmar Farseer!! Lots of fun, with opponents that seem set on buffing up my Secret Keeper! I am not complaining!
26th January update: Roffle's WILD Dragon Priest at Rank 1 - Benedictus causes concedes? (1080p)
Roffle's Dragon Priest - I took out one Twilight Whelp and added Benedictus. When facing certain aggro decks, it's relatively straightforward. You simply have to survive, clear the board with Duskbreaker, put taunts in the way and eventually make a comeback. Against Even Shaman, the initial aggression can simply overwhelm you. But if you survive past turn 10 and start drawing into your removal cards, the longer the game goes, the more favoured you are. Benedictus is a massive help in the fatigue war against slower control decks. It has caused Odd Warriors to concede. Feels good. However I find those games are much harder to play - as evidenced by the 20+ minute game against the Odd Warrior. I don't think my plays were optimal - but in the end, I was able to outlast him and that is all that matters. I'll take that win.
27th January update: TRiPz's WILD Odd Rogue at Rank 1: Bullying Big Priests / Story time with TRiPz (1080p)
Warning - some of the language towards the end may be NFSW :-) A couple of weeks ago, I played TRiPz's Odd Rogue, a deck which performed exceptionally well for me on the ladder. In this video,. we take a look at a more refined version of the deck - featuring Myra's Unstable Element. Bullying Big Priests is so much fun! - even when you draw Patches! In the last game, I get a bit of coaching from TRiPz. Oh and be sure to check out the end of the video - where we have story time with TRiPz :-) He tells us why birds are EVIL. Check out TRiPz on Twitter (https://twitter.com/TRiPz_HS) and Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/tripizsick). Rogue was once my least played class. After watching TRiPz on stream, he is responsible for me playing Rogue a lot more (in much the same way that Duwin was responsible for me playing Hunter again).
2nd February update: Greedy Renolock with Rin, N'Zoth and Geist: Actually pulling off Azari against Even Shaman (1080p)
In this Renolock deck, we have Rin, N'Zoth and Geist. Rin and N'Zoth together in the same deck sounds like overkill. However, it has worked out well for me. I like having the option to wreck slower decks with Azari. I put Geist in the deck since I was facing Jade Druids at one point... I assume it is probably safe to take Geist out of the deck now.
Playing Rin's seals against Even Shaman? Usually that would be a slow and impossible task. In this video, we actually manage to play all of Rin's seals against Even Shaman. The result was glorious.
