Over the last month, I have been posting up interesting games from arena and constructed on my YouTube channel. This channel showcases my wins, losses and best moments.
A recent Arena run that I am really proud of went 12 wins. I played as a Priest and drafted Thoughtsteal, Mind Control and Mind Control Tech! Some of the games were crazy, also going up against legendary cards. If you are interested, please have a look below:
This time, a 9 Win Druid Arena. I didn't draft any of the usual late game taunt cards (Ironbark Protector, Volcanic Lumberer, Ancient of War, etc). I wondered if this would hurt me? I faced a number of legendaries... The Kobold Geomancer was the MVP of the series. Games 6 and 7 (against the Mage and Priest) demonstrate why.
I present the YouTube video below. The key timings are presented in the video description on YouTube and also noted below:
The Draft: 0:00
Game 1 vs Mage: 7:53 - Nothing out of the ordinary here. Shredder and Venture Co carry me through the Flamestrike to win.
Game 2 vs Priest: 14:50 - Druid of the Fang MVP!
Game 3 vs Warlock: 22:55 - My opponent played Mal'Ganis and Jaraxxus! I still managed to somehow win!
Game 4 vs Warlock: 37:00 - My opponent played Dr Boom! This wasn't going to work out...
Game 5 vs Mage: 51:02 - Stealing an Abomination may have won me the game!
Game 6 vs Mage: 01:04:14 - Kobold Geomancer carried the early game with spell damage!
Game 7 vs Priest: 01:09:34 - Kobold Geomancer was once again the MVP of the early game!
Game 8 vs Shaman: 01:14:28 - A Shaman with multiple Hex spells... Oh dear!
Game 9 vs Priest: 01:29:42 - I misplayed when trading but still managed to win. Can you spot the terrible misplay? (or misplays.....)
Game 10 vs Mage: 01:37:10 - Swarm the board and win.
Game 11 vs Mage: 01:44:44 - A bad opening hand turned into taunt city come the late game...
Game 12 vs Paladin: 01:57:30 - The last game in the series. Leaving a minion alive with Blessing of Kings was probably a mistake.......
A quick update - I have posted up a 12 win Hunter Arena run on Youtube - with audio commentary. This is my first time doing commentary, so I was rather nervous! Also please excuse some of my misplays and the mic quality - I need to invest in something better. This deck was INSANE in terms of beast synergy and weapon value. A lot of fun to play. My most successful and fun Hunter arena run ever. To see the full draft and card choices made, please see: http://www.heartharena.com/arena-run/s03f7y
Another quick update - this time featuring my midrange Hunter vs a Handlock on ladder.
The Warlock uses Mind Control Tech to steal my Highmanes! A couple of really tense and crazy turns. And yes... I know I misplayed by missing lethal. Can you spot where I missed lethal? - regardless, a really interesting game!
Another update from my channel. I present two videos to you with audio commentary. The first one is a 9 win Druid Arena, featuring: - Mech synergy - Dragon synergy - Going up against Dr Boom, Hogger and..... Tirion! The deck was a lot of fun to play.
The second video features the power of Kolento's combo Priest. A very effective deck, which uses Inner Fire and Divine Spirit to good effect. Having never played this type of Priest before, I had a lot of fun!
Trying out Reynad's TGT Dragon Priest!! - with audio commentary. It's been a while since I have played as a Priest. However, with TGT, dragon Priest seems more viable (and fun!).
Back with a TGT update - 2 videos: playing zk83's control Warrior featuring Varian and a slower Tempo Mage. The control warrior video features an appearance from Lorewalker Cho in the second game! - added a very interesting dynamic! This is zk83's deck: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/309966-zk83s-in-depth-legendary-control-warrior
An update for 3rd September: I recently managed a 12-2 Paladin arena run. This series of games had it all! Everything from facing Bloodknights, to giants, and even Deathwing!!
There was also the curious case of a Shaman with double Mana Tide totems, Hexx, a Kodo and Mukla's Champion. Whatever I did, the Shaman had an answer. There was also a poor Rogue with terrible RNG. This was the exact opposite to the Shaman. Whatever the Rogue did, it just didn't work out for him! Lots of 'I am sorry' emotes!
My Frost Elemental was the MVP that helped me survive through a number of games. Such a valuable card when you are: a) Trying to survive and build board presence, or B) Trying to win by pushing lethal.
Loatheb was good for me too - at least as a 5/5 body. I am going to assume that he blocked out spells that could have been played on turn 5 onwards. Really good against Mages and Shamans. There were no Equalities, no Consecrations and no Truesilver Champions. Yet the deck still managed a 12 win run. Coghammer did prove useful - and I would argue it is better than Truesilver Champion due to the divine shield and taunt effect.
The final game to get my 12th win saw me go up against a taunt Warrior. Wow what a tense game. The Warrior had it all - constant taunts, weapons, etc! If a Warrior can make it so far in an arena run, you know the deck must be CRAZY!
I recorded the drafting process and games, and uploaded to Youtube - with audio commentary. There are 2 videos:
Trying out Kolento's Secrets Paladin across three games, with audio commentary. A tremendous amount of fun, including an early concede from a Priest! (and I didn't even need the Mysterious Challenger!)
This is my double Flamestrike double Pyroblast Mage Arena run (drafting process and games recorded with audio commentary). I was curious to see how far this deck could go - considering that double Pyroblast can be dead cards in your hand if drawn too early. The first 8 games were especially interesting - Pyroblast was a winner. After the first 8 games, I struggled. Perhaps drafting one Pyroblast would have been more sensible?
9th September update: 12 Win Murloc Knight Paladin Arena
Welcome to another 12 win Paladin arena. This deck had pretty much one of each Paladin card that you would want in Arena - Truesilver Champion, Shielded Minibot, Avenge, Murloc Knight, Aldor Peacekeeper, etc. All it lacked was Consecration and Equality.
The MVPs of this series were the Murloc Knight and a pair of Dark Iron Dwarves! A really fun series of games, doing my best to outvalue my opponents. The last two games were interesting. I didn't realise that it was the same opponent! It was only afterwards that I realised the same cards were played in both games! Woops!
I heard great things about this deck. Apparently Thijs (a great pro player) had lots of wins with this deck on his stream. Time to give it a try! Commentary included. Does it live up to the hype? Can it beat the usual top constructed classes?
My first time getting 12 Wins with a Warrior. A really fascinating series of games.
This deck had it all - multiple weapons, Grim Patrons, and a Warsong Commander! How many Grim Patrons will get in here? How many of my opponents will 'rage quit' out of frustration, thinking this is a constructed game?
Some interesting combos at play here: - Warsong Commander + Grim Patron + Death's Bite - Warsong Commander any minion with 3 or less attack - Grim Patron + Slam! - Sparring Partner and any minion with high health (e.g. Archmage) - Death's Bite (x2). Fiery War Axe (x2), Arathi Weaponsmith and Arcanite Reaper played after each other to clear the board systematically - Kezan Mystic + any enemy secret - Shieldmaiden used to survive for one more turn and win the game
The drafting process is included, along with audio commentary. I hope you enjoy watching this, as much as I enjoyed playing it!
24th Sept update: Revisiting zk83's Varian Wrynn Control Warrior AND Trying out Orange's TGT Midrange hunter (without Knife Juggler!)
zk83's control Warrior was a deck that I really enjoyed playing when TGT came out. You can see the original video above. Does the deck still hold up? Lots of decisions to make - such as: - when do I brawl? - when do I play Alex? - when do I play Ysera? Oh........ and who would have thought that Ragnaros is in Varian's army of Stormwind??! ;-) Some really interesting games - featuring a Shaman that doesn't give up and an Echo Giants Mage with an army of giants!
When TGT first arrived, Orange did well on ladder with this deck. I decided to give it a try. It's a strange deck - there is no Knife Juggler, and only one Unleash the Hounds. Yet, as this video indicates, it's a very strong deck. King's Elekk is a strong turn 2 card. Even if you lose the joust, you have a 3-2 body on board. Since this video, I have won most of my ranked games with this deck. Worth a try.
26th September update: The 12 Win double Lava Burst Shaman!
This is my first ever 12 win Shaman run! It features double Lava Burst! Often, you are faced with this decision of do I use Lava Burst now? or later? Do I use it on a minion or do use it on my opponent's face?
A really interesting series of games - in particular, watch the first game against the Priest who played multiple Dark Cultists and Shrinkmeisters.
1 vs Priest - The Priest was greedy! I counted FOUR Dark Cultists and DOUBLE Shrinkmeister! Not sure how I won that game. Comeback of the century... 2 vs Warrior - Lost to a Warrior with a crazy curve! 3 vs Druid - who tanked lots of unecessary damage. 4 vs Paladin - with a crazy start - Argent Protector is such an amazing card. 5 vs Hunter - My board presence wins the day - Kodo Rider AND Thunderbluff Valiant is hard to beat. 6 vs Shaman - I took damage in the early game, but managed to outvalue him heading into the late game. 7 vs Paladin - Lava Burst value on TURN 6!! 8 vs Paladin - Equality won't help you! 9 vs Hunter - Taunt control wins the day. 10 vs Paladin - Double Lava Burst value. Goodbye. Murloc Knight won't save you! 11 vs Hunter - More double Lava Burst value. 12 vs Paladin - The Patient Assassin says Goodbye! 13 vs Druid - Your Swipe and Healbot do nothing! Master Jouster came through when it counted!
Points of interest: - One Lava Burst wins games. - Double Lava Burst wins more games. - The Master Jouster comes through for you sometimes. - Hex is one of the best cards in arena. - Thunderbluff Valiant is amazing. - Kodorider is amazing. - Thunderbluff Valiant AND Kodo Rider on the board at the same time is incredible.
Decided to try out an Echo Giants Mage deck for the first time. Some insane echo value with Frost Giants! The first game was absolutely insane - going card for card against a Paladin!! - giant and Healbot value!!
4th October update: Paladin arena with Tirion - the highlights
This Paladin Arena run features everyone's favourite legendary - no not Dr Boom.... Tirion Fordring. This video is a series of highlights featuring the best of Tirion from this arena run. Some really fun matches - in particular going up against Mal'Ganis and another Paladin who ALSO played Tirion!!

Another quick update - this time from a 9 Win Hunter run.
I picked out this game from the series because of the insane Highmane value towards the end - it's the Highmane that kept coming back!
