I never get more than 20 or so viewers and I just can't compete with the 10,000+ top spots that everyone watches. Without something to bring more people to the steam, there's not much left to do. I just don't know if I should spend the time to try and stream :/
EDIT: and I usually do use my cam and mic, just not recently since I've been recording late. Here's a past broadcast bros:
Reynad27 used to barely pull in 200 viewers. Then Kripparian and Trump headed off to Berlin for a Hearthstone tournament for five days, in which they did no streaming at all. People discovered Reynad27. During their absence he was pulling upwards of 5000 viewers. Now that they're back, he pulls in a repsectable 1500-2000 viewers, even when Kripparian and Trump are streaming.
Word is, Kripparian and Trump are headed back to Berlin next Friday. So be sure to be streaming often during North American evenings.
Words of advice. I find streams most interesting when streamers are talkative. If you're silent most of your stream, you're not engaging your audience, and that is just flat-out boring to watch. Be sure to talk your way through your plays. Be sure to have ready links to your card lists, especially the deck you are currently playing (if you play constructed.)
It also helps to link to your stream in the post where you complain about viewership. :)
And lastly, stream because you enjoy it. Not because you're hoping to make a living out of it. You might never be able to do that. Enjoy the audience that you do have. Engage them often, and word of mouth may grow.
I appreciate the advice and I'm quite talkative on most of my streams. Just some of them I do late at night and my gf is asleep so I try to keep it down. I added my stream to my signature, and I hopefully give it another shot. Thanks PS :)
I enjoy it when I even have 1-2 people to chat with while I play. I just gets boring when there's just no one watching and I feel like I'm talking to myself lol
It apparently seems that people for some reason like to watch weirdos like Kripp and Trump. I cannot possibly understand why would Kripp and Trump would have anything more than 500 viewers. They obviously arent entertaining and are shit compared to other streamers gameplaywise.
Uh. Kripp is hilarious quite a lot of the time. He's an amazing arena player. And his constructed play is not so bad. He went from Rank 25 to 13 with a joke Shaman build the other day. And then he went from rank 13 to rank 6 (4 stars) with a Warrior build, going 24 wins and 5 losses.
Kripp is a very good Hearthstone player. Plus, he doesn't get moody and salty after losses like Reynad27 does. Nor does Kripp start attacking his audience when they question his plays, again like Reynad27 does.
You are overestimating Kripp a lot bro. Kripp playing with copied decks and reaching rank 6 is really nothing.
You underestimate skill versus the deck. You need to know how to play effectively to make a deck work for you. Kripp playing that deck and me playing that deck are two different experiences.

Just checked now and he has just over 14.5k viewers.
Mr Yanyuk was once an MTG:O streamer who was fairly well known for being very heavy on the banhammer for people who disagreed with him and being generally dismissive of viewer input in a community full of people like Michael Jacob, Cedric Phillips and AJ Sacher who thrive on viewer interaction and input. He was banned from competitive level Magic for 15 months after cheating at a large event during which time he admitted to tournament officials that he cheated to get a more lenient punishment but later recanted his admission going onto Twitter to inform the world how he was totally innocent and being used as an example to others. He later posted a fairly heavily worded and self righteous article on a 3rd party Magic website (which can be found here http://www.draftmagic.com/2013/04/30/the-end-of-an-era-and-the-reach-of-the-dci/) continuing to throw around insults and slurs at the Magic and MTG:O streaming community, including some of the afforementioned "stars" of the community, before announcing to the world he was "retireing" from streaming Magic.
Having watched some of his old Magic streaming myself I think he should consider himself very lucky to have so many viewers now, as he always came across as pretentious and self righteous and generally didn't play well with others. I don't know if he has changed his ways since returning to steam Hearthstone but damn I don't think he deserves the attention and add revenue he is getting considering his past behaviour when even the best of the best from his "old" Magic stream community are lucky to get 3k+ viewers (not counting big name tournaments like SCG or the Pro Tour). That being said I know I maybe quite biassed against Mr Yanyuk considering I haven't watched his HS streaming.

You do not build a successful stream overnight.

If you care about how much people watch your stream maybe you aren't doing it for the right reasons?
If you love your work then even 1 viewer should be enough for you.
If its about the financial aspect, well
I enjoy it when I even have 1-2 people to chat with while I play. I just gets boring when there's just no one watching and I feel like I'm talking to myself lol

Yeah currently not on cam or mic right now, but I'll do a proper broadcast in the morning. Check out the past ones and tell me what you think.

Let's not be ridiculous. Make your point, but don't be an idiot about it.

This thread has gone in a weird direction.....anyway, I'll give streaming another go.
