Freeze is a control deck -- you have to waste almost the entire game doing nothing and hope you can draw or pull all of the pieces to make it work. I love the deck type but more often than not it can fail.

No matter how hard to pull something is, you should NOT be able to OTK every class in the game EXCEPT for warrior when they have full health. This isn't fun, especially because there is no way to prevent it at all, unless you somehow get some armor, I suppose druid could stand a chance, except that they don't usually run heals, so Alex kills them anyway.
I mean, there is another way. It's called Loatheb and it's not standard legal. Freeze mage needs nerfs, otherwise standard will fail at its goal of creating a diverse meta with new interesting decks.
I am not discounting that at all, but unfortunately the same can be said for a lot of decks: Warrior tanking; Tempo Mage win by Turn 5; etc. I hate losing to those archetypes, but its a lot of fun to crush them from time to time as well. Lol

None of the decks you mentioned are not interactive, or allow for full health OTK. If anything, both are very interactive, they can't ignore the board, but have to fight for it. Sometimes tempo mage gets crazy openings, sometimes warriors have all answers, but never will they burst your HP from 30 to 0 in one turn without having a board. That's the point, you can't kill the minions that are dealing damage to you in freeze mage, BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT THERE. And cards like Ice block and frost nova in conjunction with flamestrike and blizzard just allow them to stall and stall until they get to pull off the trick. Loatheb was the only card in the game that allowed for those plans to be foiled, but not any more.
One thing is to be crushed because RNG and bad draws. Other thing is to be crushed because no matter what you did or how well you could have drawn, you'd be crushed, it's just plain stupid. I have no clue as to why this deck was left untouched. I'd have nerfed Ice Block to the ground a long time ago, the card does too much, especially because so few cards remove secrets, one being class specific and all being utter crap.
You have to get insanely lucky to pull that off. Look at the amount of cards he has left. He also managed to pull alex and reduce all his spells with emperor. This is super unlikely and the mage would lose more often than not in that situation. Posting this video is equivallent to posting someone pulling off a malygos combo with ancestor's call.
I think the problem with Freeze Mage was, and always will be Ice Block. That and the game has no way to counter freeze other than (the now nerfed) silence.
This is why with the new nat pagle card a big opportunity was missed. It should have been 50% to discard an opponents card...it wouldn't have been a huge deal like pre-nerf illidan, but it would have been something, a potential answer to non-interactive combo decks that just isn't there currently.
You get the feeling, looking at the card, thats so bad it won't even be used in mill decks, that this is what blizzard wanted him to be. Then they remembered they'd promised never to have this kind of mechanic after nerfing illidan to unplayable pap level.

It doesn't matter if it's hard. Is it possible? Because blizzard is so desperate to nerf Arcane Golem and Force of Nature because they deal 14 and 18 damage and leave no room for interaction, you'd think that a deck that CAN deal 30 damage, or EVEN MORE, as he didn't have "the perfect hand", as ludicrous as it can be, would get some attention.
30 damage in one turn with no board in not ok. Yeah, he had a 1/8 that dealt one damage. Anyway. Let's wait for standard... if I'm right we'll al know it.
So I just watched this recent Kibler video. Just skip to 6:39.
Rember kids, freeze mage needs no nerfs. Standard will be AWESOME.
Well, looks like it's time to finally craft Alex and Ice Blocks.
I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
Holy crap.
I thought everyone already knew with no nerfs and only 1 card lost Freeze Mage will be king of standard at least at first until people find new decks.

Yeah, he kills him from 30, so what?

Can't wait to see all the nerf freeze mage threads made by the kiddies.
ResidentSleeper.
I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.

Welp. Classic freeze mage in a control matchup
Pog to the Champ to the one-two-Kappa.

Freeze is so easily hard-countered, it can never become a big problem.
Freeze can be a pain in the ass, then i realize i enjoy playing control warrior and the whole thing goes in a new perspective.
The end is coming!
