Can someone who is not as lazy as I am find the literally same statement about the Naxxramas? "With the Deathlord and Sludge Belcher FaceHunter and Zoolock will stand no chance and we'll have a control meta." And then people figured out that Undertaker was a really good card...
I'm sure someone said this at some point... but I don't recall hearing it. Most people didn't even seem to think that sludge belcher would be a great card. I'm pretty sure the expansion where people started expecting the meta to slow down was LoE.
As a player who loves control, I hope control becomes viable, but that it isn't a "control meta". Control mirror matches are not a whole lot of fun when you have to play them frequently. I would generally prefer to play control decks against midrange or aggro.
We have now a tempo meta and we are going to have with this expansion a super tempo meta...
People is dreaming when they think that some reactive cards for priest are going to bring us a control meta... maybe we can have a tier 3 control priest or at least a bottom tier 2 deck with lots of luck.
hey we need some bad guys after all . One of my favorite times in hearthstone is playing elise warrior filled with only armor cards and elise ,surviving through a face deck burst , then keep armoring up and clearing his board and intentionally not attacking his face , waiting for him to surrender
Most of paladin cards are aggro , all of hunter cards are aggro too ,
How do you know!?!?!? There's still SO MANY CARDS LEFT! For all we know the next 5 cards that are revealed could be undertakers and mysterious challengers.....

Nope, because it never was said. No one bu trump thought sludge was a good card, and death lord wasn't looked well upon. Zombie chow was also pretty underrated. Most people were talking about what would be played in the game, not the speed of it.
Also, the game was pretty slow before Naxx, so no reason to say that.

I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.
But see, that's the brilliance of it. These aggro cards delay turns in exchange for making the minions more resistant to board clears. Delaying these aggressive plays by just 1 or2 turns while they charge up the buffs in their hands gives control more time to build up mana and resources to react to their plays.
I really love these posts where people complaining about meta after new expansion, especially when new expansion has not jet been released, and we dont even know all cards from it!
BTW Are you blind or something? Haven't you seen new aggro cards for Grimmy Goons that are ridiculously strong? I don't know what will be after release, but I don't think that Controll will take so much adventage over others decks, not to say we got just a few good controll cards. (and alot of great aggro cards)

I'd like to point out that before Naxx (and after the UTH nerf) Miracle Rogue was the best deck and people tried really hard to counter it... with extremely aggressive decks (FaceHunter, Backspace Rogue, Shockadin). More adequate people used to counter Miracle Rogue with Handlock but it was a bad metacall in such fast environment.
Im totally on board with the line of thinking that due to precedent set by team 5, every time we expect the meta to shift towards control it never really gets there, however if we look at all the recent changes(nerfs + new cards) it seems they are trying to push the game in a better direction i think there a legitimate chance of it happening or at least some serious strides towards a slower meta.
I can only hope that Blizzard isn't trying to force us into a control-only meta. So many of these fools think they can fix the problem of board control decks like Midrange Shaman dominating the meta by making it so the decks they counter now counter them. Because there were only two reasons Shaman ever got into dominance: one, everyone was ASKING for Shaman to get buffed when WoG was released, and two, Blizzard nerfed every single one of the key cards in Face Hunter and so many other Aggro decks over so many years before WoG came out to the point where it's next to nonexistent now. And when that happened, the counterplay triangle keeping the game in balance for so long was shattered and the meta became incredibly one-sided, ruining it for us all.

i doubt it.
And i doubt even more that Blizz will let a Control meta happen.
I think it will be slightly slower, more consistently weighted around the last turns. But not much beyond 10...
A resounding "No".
Release the Kraken!

If by "control meta" you mean "gimmicky midrange meta" then yes.
i personally dont want control meta to become a thing, i just want to play games where i should not worry about dying at turn 6

Ololo control meta. Just look at pirate warrior, he'll be killing faster than ever when msg releases.
Hmmm, where have I heard this before?

Paladin screems Aggro to me very very loudly. Aggro won't die but i think the meta will be a little bit slower, if the hand buff stuff works.

Please yes. Probably not though.
I really hope so. I'm tired of playing against nothing but aggro.
A slower meta? I hope so. Maybe we'll be able to play some interesting late game cards.
A control meta? Please, NO! I don't games to take half an hour. Removal every turn is so annoying. Stalling the game is so boring. Zzzzzzzzzz
