I'm very surprised this thread is still ongoing. I thought that by now, OP would have had the capability to make the final decision on whether to PAY, GRIND, or QUIT, as many others have suggested him to do. It's a simple decision yet he continues whining on this thread instead of making a simple decision for himself. The reason he's here is simply because he refuses to counter control decks. He considers decks like "huntard," zoo, Trump's F2P mage and shaman below him. Another reason's he's upset is because the legendaries he received were "trash." Now, in a different century, in a different world, OP had instead received Cairne, Alex, Ysera, etc, he would not be here venting. He has clearly enjoyed the game enough to play for 1000+ wins, enjoying a 100% free experience for the duration. But like many other games, Hearthstone is a Pay for a Headstart game, and upon realizing that, OP has become a tad upset and wants Blizzard to change this instead of him changing himself. So we return to OP's three options: Pay, Grind, or Quit. We can observe that OP refuses to pay. We also infer that he refuses to grind either from his comments. Which leaves us with one option. I hope this matter resolves quickly.
If you have not contributed financially to this game, do you honestly believe you have a right to complain that Blizzard owes you something or Blizzard does not give you enough gold per day because you put your free time into playing their game for free?
If anything, maybe people who do not support this game financially should not have access to any Legendaires?
Oh boy, then it'd be REAL pay to win.
Can't believe you're advocating that honestly, you're the type of consumer greedy companies love!
Those discussions are annoying as hell. People who complain do not know how P2W games really work. Other games would give a limited number of achievements with card packs as reward and thats it. If you want more you must do a real money purchase. Blizzard gives you the option to obtain gold per wins, in the middle 150 gold per day. You can obtain every feature with this gold. If you only do the dailies you obtain 150 gold in three days. Thats great too. You can purchase card packs, can enter arena and can enter the upcoming adventure mode the same.
If that 1 legendary is a bum card(as the majority are) you just increased the time needed to play exponentially.
Learn math, please.
Gold acquisition is a linear progression. Always. If you earn gold at a rate of 60 gold per hour, it doesn't suddenly decrease to 20 gold per hour because you got a legendary you're not happy with.
Yea they totally didn't listen, teh nerds R raging overtime now
(posting as a poster, not a moderator)
Ah, let 'em all have fun. I like a good nerd rage myself every now and then.
(puts on serious face) Of course you realize when *I* "nerd rage" it is simply expressing my righteous indignation at certain intolerable conditions, which I must do my utmost to draw attention to and prevent as part of my civic duty. Everyone would be so much happier if they would just understand that.
It's even funnier because I'm only half kidding. o.o Kappa

RNG in cardpack is really annoying. Let's assume that 2 friends started playing HS at the same time. They open the same number of cardpacks and have the same number of Rares/Epics/Legendary. Then one gets a Ragnaros and the other gets a Nozdomu. Now there's already a huge difference, the guy with Noz have to DE ALL his other cards to craft Rag to remain competitive.
Hex, Mind control, Polymorph, Assassinate... The list goes on and on, and Blizzard gave all of those to you for free. Did you thank them?
All the things you listed are counters, not threats to win the game. You could have tons of removal at your disposal and you could still end up losing the game because you have no threats on the board. The opponent can just easily pressure you with medium minions forcing you to use removal on them and once they are gone, bam Rag, Alex, Baron, Ysera suddenly come out of nowhere and end the game easily. Some Legendary like Rag can put both threats and removal at the same time.
Not to mention the opponent also have the same removal cards as you.

This is a good point that the premium big manna finishers come out of legendaries. You are also correct that cards such as rag, ysera, and alex are double threats in that they have an immediate effect and then a continuing threat. In a control style deck (or ramp deck) these are typically staple cards. The one thing is to look at the number of flavor of the week decks that aren't running these. Zoo is half the time legend free. Aggro hunter usually is with leeroy, but the more popular (and better?) midrange hunter control decks are legend free. Aggro warrior is legend free, and I'm not sure about typical tempo rogue decks but I'm pretty sure they could be. I guess it all comes down to style, is your deck going to take control faster and drop fire elly or scar as its threats? or is it going to take control slower and use rag? One thing to look at is six drops, ogre, fire elemental, scar (shadow priest? ok NM) those are all free faster and good. Those will be getting polyed hexed and facelessed too. You are right that when it comes to late game, war golem sucks. I guess my point is if you don't have legendaries don't try to play control warrior, but there are a lot of other decks to play!

I know what you mean. I use that all the time and it works well sometimes. However when building a deck, you have to take into consideration your win condition. Are you going to win with Faceless or BGH? Hell no it's so dependent on the opponent. What if they play an aggro deck? Your minions are close to useless now. That's why I call them counters to certain cards and not real threats. You can't put them comfortably on a empty board since you are under using the card that way. What real threats IMO are Yetis, Boulderfist Orge, Iron Bark, etc. and of course our Legendaries. Compare them, you see a vast difference. An Iron Bark hits the field and does nothing while a Rag hits for 8 effective removing your opponent minion and sometimes just enough to end the game.
Take ramp Druid for example. They do run BGH, Faceless and TBK but can they win w/o Rag/Cenarius/Ysera? I don' think so.

Also I would be more than happy if they fix some of the useless cards. Certain epics are worst than commons. And I for some reason, acquire most of them.
I remember when I first started playing this game, I was thinking "It's not that great. It's just like Magic, except I don't have to spend any money." A few seconds later, I realized that I DON'T HAVE TO SPEND ANY MONEY and can still be quite competitive. I'm surprised at how long this thread has been going haha. It's quite amusing.
Basically, I just think the time invested to get good cards is not a big deal. If you want to spend all the money, great. If not, it's still great haha. This argument is so pointless from both sides.
I have 500 wins, plays 10 hours/week for around two months. Never pay a buck and have 3 legend (2 for my druid that i craft and one leroy from pack) all epic, rares and common i want/need for the moment. You can get all you want, just pay money or time for it. But please, dont cry for it.
My solution to the problem is the arena. Like you say, the first few times it will be rough and you'll have to rely on daily gold to get back in. But once you get the hang of it and you start winning 5+ games per arena run, that plus dailies is usually enough to keep you going for quite a while. I'm personally quite far from a full collection, but I have many of the staple legendaries and all the epics I want. I've crafted a few of them, but the majority came from arena pack rewards. Just keep at it, and you'll get there. With the arena, moving the boulder takes significantly less time and becomes much more enjoyable.

Or he could craft a Faceless Manipulator and a Big Game Hunter. Voila! He's competitive again.

Big Game Hunter and a Faceless Manipulator? That's a definite threat to win the game. You've removed the opponent's Ragnaros the Firelord and now you have one in the exchange.

Only with access to a full library of cards is the full array of offensive and defensive options available in Hearthstone.
Some kids can play with cardboard boxes instead of expensive toys and still have a good time. Some kids can't.
Me, I'm P2W on NA and F2P on Europe and Asia. I have cardboard boxes AND expensive toys. Kappa
