They make about $2.50 per sub after twitch takes their cut, next to nothing on commercials, and an incredibly varied amount from donations, so to answer your question...it depends. There really isn't a good way to even come up with a ballpark range until SocialBlade updates their site to give range estimates for twitch streamers.
twitch took a survey recently showing about 90% of it's users run adblock. and streamers only get $2.50 a subscriber as twitch takes half. each viewer generates fractions of a penny per ad, so even with 10k people watching (which only a handful of streamers ever get), factoring in the 90% deficit, that's 1,000 imprints making fractions of a penny each. of course it adds up, but not to more than far less than minimum wage offers per year. The streamers that make the most money (aside from league players that are heavily sponsored, receive hundreds per day in flat donations, and have upwards of 20k viewers each stream) are those with the most loyal monthly subs and receive the most consistent donations (of larger than say 10 dollars). They make enough money to not have to work. that's about it. unless you start piling on sponsorships, you won't be making "big bucks" at all. and the odds of that ever happening are similar to winning the lottery.

The money from Twitch isn't a huge amount of money, I don't know that it's less than minimum wage however, it depends on what the streamer puts into the experience for the viewer. The "real money." according to Towelliee (ie the money that allows him to do all the fancy giveaways and stuff that he does and support his lifestyle.) actually comes from YouTube. He says that his YouTube videos make him significantly more than his 8~ hour streaming sessions each day.
All in all, a popular streamer makes a lot of money, but the lion's share of it is from donations and other things rather than stream advertisements.
The top people, like Kripparrian, Hafu and Trump, earn between $1000-$2000 per week, a mix of subs, donations and ad revenue. Some of them earn more via sponsorships and appearances.
How does one become a popular streamer? Just need to hit legend?
Patience (because it doesn't happen overnight). Knowledge. A good personality.
I started watching Reynad when he was only pulling in 200 viewers a night. It took some time (and for Kripp to stop streaming for a week while he was in Berlin), but now Reynad pulls in 8K per stream easily.

So be legend, be a good player, not a douche, and have an interactive stream? I've always considered streaming. I use to be semi pro sc2 beaten bunch of pros like IdrA but I couldn't stream back then cause I had a bad laptop. Now I have a top of the line laptop and was wondering if I would be able to stream casually once I hit legend and get a decent following lol
Didn't Reynad say he was waking up/starting his day from 2am onwards to stream.
I think he starts late now ... because his numbers are lower if he's competing directly with Hafu, Kripparrian and Trump.
(Although, since Kripp is living in Greece now, he's streaming late (early?) in the NA timezone now too ... so Reynad is running out of non-competitive time slots.)

Having a good/interesting personality isn't just "Don't be a douche." - You have to have some quality that attracts viewers and makes them want to watch your stream instead of other streams. Hafu sings and does "cute" things, Kripp drinks orange juice and is just really laid back, Trump talks outloud as he does the math in his head, Massan is very animated and his mom sometimes trolls the stream in the background, Amaz or whatever his name is also is very animated. Towelliee makes fun of himself and his reactions to less than ideal situations are usually amusing.
But yeah if you meet the hardware requirements for streaming and you think that you've got an interesting personality just go for it.

I don't watch much streamers but out of those I only watch trump and amaz. Amaz is definitely my favorite. He's hilarious. Too bad he streams from HK I think. TBH any girl streamer can have success streaming solely because they are a girl. That's just how the internet works.

That's a completely dick/misogynistic thing to say. Probably stemming from your jealousy and personal issues.
Hafu is a very competent ranked player, and an excellent arena player. She gets stream views because she's very good at the game.
It's not a shot at Hafu. It's more of a shot at society. I don't watch her, i've checked in on her stream here and there. I'm not going to judge her play or critique her ability in HS. I'm sure she's a good player, but you, me, and your mother all know females in general get more/special treatment over the internet. I'm sure you've read, heard, seen multiple instances where cam girls will get random $500 donations. It's very basic supply and demand. Less female streamers/video game players? The more viewers those few female streamers will get.
lolwut it has nothing to do with hafu. You instantaneously defending her on the spot is just more evidence that women on the internet get preferential treatment immediately.
EDIT: Another example I forget her name but there was this other female streamer who seemed like she had no idea what she was doing, but she had a ton of viewers on her stream and I am 90% certain some legend rank player was literally holding her hand through the game through the mulligans, through each play at each turn. You will rarely/never see a guy get that type of treatment.
EDIT2: Her name was dearnadia or deernadia something like that

That special treatment also means that any girl streamer is immediately given the stamp of cam whore, untill proven otherwise "on the internet"
Don't pretend it's all sunshine and roses to be a female streamer. I'm pretty sure if you don't pick the outliers then the average female streamer would gladly just be treated like any male streamer if it meant less of the bad stuff they get with these supposed good sides (that only the blatent profit seekers cash in on anyway).

DeerNadia on Twitch. She's been playing HS just a wee bit more than a month, hit rank 2 nonlegendary before end of last season. As to her having help, sure, she knows she can use it, and she *has* shown a lot of improvement. FailFish, Kappa.
Not going all whiteknight and stuff, yeah I'd agree there's gender discrimination. But even if gender discrimination is real doesn't mean you should be mad at someone trying to make their way the best they can, right? Anyways I figure DeerNadia is on her way up, don't know if she'll make it, but I think it's a real possibility, if she really wants it. Some female streamers are just about the female thing, but looks to me like DeerNadia's going to go for the real deal, the skill, the real thing, see?
As far as guys getting that sort of help - hey again, not going to try to dig into gender discrimination or whatever, but men have this thing called pride or chauvinism or whatever you want to call it; if help is offered, it often gets turned down. Do you honestly think that if Reynad called someone for help, he would get turned down? (Well okay Kappa) But you know what I mean, Reynad could have whatever stream of helpers if he wanted it, right? I'm sure Chakki would love to help Reynad. Kappa. Keepo. Well maybe he would at that, Chakki's grade S troll funny imo, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't want to lend someone a hand. Far as I know.
So although I can see that OsC's keeping it real, and someone *ought* to be keeping it real, I'm going to throw in a bit more of that keep-it-real stuff and say - yeah, that discrimination bias stuff is out there, but people have to make their way. If you think it's wrong, I can dig that, but that's how it is, you can be angry at the clouds because they're white, but that isn't going to be productive, and if you remain in that sort of mentality, frustration will just end up giving problems in the end, right?
But yeah, I'm not gonna say whatever opinion is wrong. If I say it's out there and I say it's wrong, who am I to say people indignant at the situation are wrong? I'm just making my way, let other people make their own as they like it.

The problem is not that she's female, but that lonely nerds think throwing money at them increases the odds their fantasies come to fruition. I don't blame the women for receiving money, I blame the men.
Let's be honest here. I only like to see hafu because she's cute and knows what she is doing.. And no man can be cute.
I think trump is damn good on arena and i like to see him there.
But my favourite is Amaz. Its just too much joy to watch, he is very good with priest and then he gives a show for the camera. he is a natural talent in front of a camera.
So all things considered its all about skill and personality. More skill in arena for trump and more personality for Amaz. Hafu is just cute and good looking and nice to watch.

I know this topic is kind of sensitive and all but I'm curious. Any ideas?
Top streamers doesn't mean top income.
