this is my second season getting legend ranking after starting to play constructed last season, I played the majority of my games as either Tempo Rogue and Mid Range Hunter so I'd like to share my decklist used to get feedback and thoughts on them as well as give newer players or even seasoned players deck ideas to get out of the lower ranks. I also hope to show it is possible to do well with a non meta deck as i played tempo rogue more often than hunter through out the season.
got any questions? feel free to leave me a comment and ill respond asap!
(Disclaimer) The decks are not entirely original ideas and the hunter deck was specifically inspired buy Sparks's build posted on the forums recently. these decks however are still my own as with such a limited card pool id say its near impossible to have a completely original and succesful deck. Few Questions about the hunter deck: Why two Savannah Highmanes vs just one? Why only one Eaglehorn Longbow? Did you ever feel like putting in a freezing trap or additional Dire Wolf Alpha over the second Raptor or Croc? Finally, ever try TBK in that deck as well?
Thanks! Overall decks look solid. Might have to try one of them out later tonight.

Two highmanes gave me good late game threats and it kills basically and late game deck like druid warrior and handlock it felt to good to just play one however once it clogged my opening hand with 2 LOL. the one bow was because of clogging and its kinda cost inefficient without traps which i only played 2, since i wasnt so reliant on it i didnt need the second to avoid clogging my 3 drops as there are better cards to play on the 3 drop slot. never wanted freezing since its to easy to lose to a low value target and would rarely be usefull. the dire wolf i wanted as a one of since it would of been a 4th creature with 2/2 stats which is rather week so id rather have 1 to save for combos especially with hounds. i had considered black knight and in a different meta i deffinently would of played it but i didnt want another 6 drop and high value taunts are pretty rare lately so it didnt make the cut, if it did i would take out a highmane. hope that helped ^_^
I've recently started playing a tempo rogue deck around rank 4 as well.
Why Cold Blood over Shadow Step? I feel like Shadow Step has more utility. You can shadow step Azure Drakes when you are low on cards, or shadow step SI:7 when you want to kill two 2 toughness cards like versus Zoo, and obviously with Leeroy as a finisher.
Why no BGH? I feel like this card is absolute clutch right now. Hunters will sometimes Houndmaster their Highmane's, or Highmane's with a Timber wolf out, or sometimes bad hunters get greedy and let their Scavenger get to 8 attack. Druids could Mark of the Wild their Ancient of Lore and that's also a target. And of course, hand locks and control warriors. There were so many games that I only won because I had BGH at the right time, and it's also not a dead card against aggro. A 4/2 for 3 is just fine.
More generally, what do you think is needed to break through rank 1-4 and get to legend? I'm on a mini winning streak currently and got back to my previous rank, but earlier I tanked to rank 6, maybe because I was trying out some different decks, iono.

ive tried both cold blood and shadow step and personally found cold blood to be more useful as it doubles not only as a finisher but as a way to pressure/force your opponent to deal with a card they otherwise wouldnt want to, basically i like its versatility more and its all preference between the two. ive considered bgh multiple times but the decks its good against are normally match ups where all id like to do is go for their face and push hard for damage. for example handlock i have good early pressure and can usually remove a giant even at a steep cost to maintain tempo and hopefully the win, against warrior you usually need to beat them before big cards are even a thing or you will lose bgh or not and against hunter your best bet is to ignore highmane/sap it whenever the card isnt worth dealing with as its expensive to kill and in that match up you need all your cards. lastly druid isnt a match up im concerned with since they are all rather slow and usually dont have bgh targets anyway.
as for your last question its extremely hard to answer but all i can really say is just keep playing and learning to the point where you can predict all of your opponents moves. outside of random tech cards when you learn the game well enough the decks become very transparent and make your own play making easier. also when you lose a game try and think about what lead to the loss, did you make a play that seemed right but turned out to cost you the game turns later? did you make missplays at all? did your opponent just draw better? all these things i personally ask myself win or lose. one last thing is if you can help it never let your opponent dictate the tide of battle, i generally play with the idea that i am going to force my opponent to do what i want during their turn and specifically make plays around them being forced to make x play while if they do the consequences are minor for me but if they dont the reward is usually game in a few turns.
hope this helped, feel free to ask more questions if needed

Thanks man.
What's your mulligan and general strategy against hunters with the rogue deck? Both mid range hunters and aggro.
