The "when you play" term is changing on certain cards to make them more clear as to what is played and what is summoned. "When you play" will affect cards played from your hand, while "when you summon" will include minions summoned from other minions. Depending on how Questing Adventurer changes, it would be once from the former or twice if it were the latter. This will also be the case for Edwin VanCleef and other cards of the like.
This should provide some much needed clarity on how certain cards work, and a good distinction for us to start using when discussing cards. There's more indication of changes to cards in the article so can't wait to see this change and others in a new build.
Depending on how often they will use "summoned" on the cards this might mean a big swing in strategy, especially for Paladin/Shaman decks. Thoughts?

This clarity is indeed much needed. That being said, this should be a wake up call. There's a lot if deck building going on right now, but we best be prepared for massive changes as they "clear up" the card text/rules.

Mhmm. The blue post seemed to hint at more then just this change, talking about Mind Control Tech as "changing pretty dramatically.". I know that's a popular card in many builds, so that change alone could upset lots of decks that are being used right now.
This change will influence cards like Knife Juggler for instance that are quite popular as well, so it's going to matter a lot if it gets the minion "played" or "summoned" distinction.
Very much looking forward to the next build they put out to see if these changes will be in by then.

While speculation and deck building is fun for all of us, I'm starting to burn out on play testing Hearthstone. The community game "rules" are established conditionally with minimal validity, we have no idea what cards will actually exist, or what they'll even do for that matter. Could be minimal, could be more than we expected. I'm sure we're just starting to getting a hint of what changes we'll see in Beta. After that we can almost guarantee even more come launch. It is Blizzard after all. :D
Interesting blue post: Link

Interesting changes that will make some of the forge sim games I've been running smoother.
Anyone know if HearthPwn has continual access to the game data? I'd really like to see the updated text when it's done.
