How many egg activators do you need to be efficient on a Raptor Rogue deathrattle deck? This deck carries a total of 8 activators (including backstab but not including eviscerate). 2X coldblood, 2x backstab, 2x defender of argus, 2x abusive sergeant. Obviously you don't want your egg sitting on board for more than a turn or two. But there are so many good cards out there I often find myself tempted to cut one activator to make room a card that's high value on it's own. I just don't know if that will hurt the Nerubian Egg value too much.
I don't. It's so inefficient to activate them in Rogue. Got rid of 'em and reworked my Deathrattle Deck accordingly. Much happier with it now - more consistent. Sitting on Eggs with nothing to activate them with is just crap and they're not good enough to simply be feeders for Unearthed Raptor and nothing else.

You're saying you aren't running Nerubian Egg at all?
I've only played 10 games or so with various lists, but turn 2 egg, turn 3 raptor, turn 4 argus is pretty freakin' sweet. 4-4's for days
What do you run for early game? Just Leper Gnome and Haunted Creeper?

Where I'm at in the ladder I'm seeing plenty of Paladin and Hunter. I'm running fans and two oil/blade flurry. I also tech in Perdition's Blade / Dark Iron Skulker for that reason.

Did you make your deck more mid range all together? Or did you sub in more oil-rogue type cards or weapons/SI7 agent type cards?
I personally think you could drop one backstab and one coldblood and be fine. A naked egg isn't the worst thing in the world if it sits there a few turns. It still gets activated on Consecrate, Flamestrike and Holy Nova, which may otherwise wipe your board. Plus if you drop and egg and then a raptor, and somehow the egg never goes off, you still get 3/4 and 4/4 for 5 mana, which is still great value.
Honestly you don't want activators just to get nerubian eggs to die. Take a lesson from warlock zoo, put cards that can be used both on Nerubian Egg and the rest of your deck.

I tried a midrange approach but didn't had success since it lacks a clear win condition and didn't feel reliable so I mixed it with the oil aspect and I really like it I am waiting for tomb pillager since the 4 drop is lacking..
With Beneath the Grounds I did get really lucky in two of my games where the opponent drew into double Nerubian for me in the sane turn. Other than that I've usually got at least one Nerubian from playing it. I find the spell quite useful, since the Nerubians will be a surprise element.
6 activators should be fine, NOT counting Backstab. You really don't want to activate your own eggs with a removal spell.
I definetly also play with eggs, because they also prevent your opponent from using board wipes effectively if used correctly.
I agree. But in some cases there's a perfect opportunity to take a big lead by backstabbing an egg. Not a priority and not your first play though by any means.

I think you are really doing the egg a disservice by using it purely for the Nerubian - the best aspect of the Nerubian Egg is that it can cause your opponent to spend more resources than they would for another minion to try and remove it, or it can coax an opponent to delay using an AoE until they have an answer for the Nerubian. The egg is one of the best control plays you can make, so myself, I have no issue just letting it sit there while I build a board and overwhelm an opponent subtly while they keep that Consecration or Holy Nova in hand because they fear the 4/4 Nerubian more than my board dealing them twice that damage each turn.

Valid point. Playing around AOE is very strong and puts the opponent in a difficult position.

Here's a deck example: Raptor Rogue deck example. But this discussion could also be applied to zoo

As long as you aren't running cards solely to activate Egg, it's fine.

My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
The 2x Nerubian Egg is so nice because of the Nerubian. I run 2x Dire Wolf Alpha, 2x Defender of Argus and 1x Anubisath Sentinel to buff it. I also got and 1x Beneath the Grounds in my deck for more of the Nerubian.
