A card game is a card game... That's why there's so many top poker players who are playing Heartstone. Some of them even have a twitch channel like Daniel Negranu.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the ability to play one carries over to the other, but I would say that they attract similar types of people. Both games have a high skill ceiling that is somewhat obscured by random chance. Poker players must understand variance and the respective roles of luck and skill, so they probably come into Hearthstone with healthier expectations, allowing them to focus on the things that matter.
So basically your telling me that it is okay to put my whole life savings into a game of poker? Rank 22 last season. I think im pretty good at this game!
I also think that the games has a lot in common. You need to consider a lot of random factors and yes, luck plays a role in both of them. The abilitiy to consider the odds for things to happen very useful in both games. Even such a thing like attacking your opponents Piloted Shredder. To know what the likeliness is of a specific minion type to jump out if it is very useful.
The new WSOP champion is also a hearthstone player!
I was thinking if this two games/sports have so much in common that the ability in one of them can be also to the other one
