While playing in HS I generally squelch the opponent upon start of a game, most of the time this is because I have something or other playing in the background, but sometimes just because the opponent is ADHD emoting every single play.
if you think you're BM'ing less than other players, or you think you are not a great example of HS's toxic player base, you are WRONG! When someone just spams emotes, ok, it's fine to squelch your opponent. But when there is a player who is behaving well, refusing to communicate at any level is horrible behavior. If you're listening music or something, just turn the volume off from HS.

squelching someone isn't BMing. It just means you aren't interested in the emote.
And note that the opponent can't see whether you squelch them or not. Thus to your foe it's the same thing whether you squelch or just ignore them.

are you implying that squelching is toxic behavior? wow. just wow.
BTT: yes, i definitely need that option.
You are saying that not only refusing to communicate with your opponent, but also disabling him from communicating you, isn't rude?

Ignoring the opponent is equal to squelching them, especially since the opponent sees the same end result: no communication.
So there's not much point to not squelching if you are just going to not emote back. Unless you are demanding that these people actually emote regularly, there's no extra point.

Auto squelch would be nice. I play the game to enjoy and honestly squelching someone (even if they have good intent) doesn't seem like bad manners to me. I mean, seriously they can say like 6 things lol. It's not even real communication.
It isn't rude at all. I am trying to play Hearthstone. Just like when I ride on an airplane I want to read a book. In some ways continuing to communicate with someone that isn't interested is more rude than not wanting to communicate at all. Me having a different agenda than you doesn't make me rude it makes me different. The fact that I don't want to play click the chat bubble with you while playing Hearthstone certainly isn't rude.
The strangest thing I've seen in this thread so far is all the people who consider the hearthstone players "the most toxic players". Honestly, interaction is composed of what, 6 emotes? Stop being so soft. On topic, I suppose an auto-squelch button would be fine but for me its just muscle memory to start match "hello">squelch. Judging by some of the responses in the thread its good I at least say hello so I dont hurt peoples feelings when I dont emote with them for the rest of the match.

sorry but i cant take this shit anymore.... every fucking game i got emotes like i am sorry etc.... i dont want to hear those tards why theres no an option to auto mute them and i have to click squelch in every game? i mean seriously i know they are just stupid emotes but im playing this game to have fun not to fuck up my nerves. you won? i lost the joust? i had a bad RNG? PLS STFU AND DONT EMOTE ME. if you played an actual card game and you said in every lucky move i am sorry you would end up in the hospital but now that its the internet you show your worm selfs and everyone is being an asshole?
please enable permament auto squelch. thank god this game is f2p cause i wouldnt give a dime to play it with all this bad customer service. players play to have fun not to fuck up their nerves. RNG bullshit is annoying enough even without the emotes
i mean these braindead facehunters emote me when i lose the joust from kings elekk when i play like 8 2 drops..... i know its possible to lose the joust fucktard im just playing it as a cool addition if i win it whats your fucking problem. every joust i lose from king elekk i have an emote "my apologies" or sorry etc

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Definetly yes! We need an option for stress-free games, protection from bming huntards and other aggro cancers.
Yes, please make this an option. Just like they really needed an auto-mute in Call of Duty so I don't have to go around and mute everyone every game.
In online games full of toxic people, communication should be opt-in rather than opt-out.
Have a great deck that's really, really cheap? Help the new players out
Why? Is it really that annoying dragging your cursor to your opponents portrait and right-clicking?
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles
I squelch when i'm about to lose, or when i might lose. The rest of the game i'm emoting normally.

Would save me .02 seconds each game. Gimme!

I want more options to communicate.
A laughing emote would be awesome.
it should, i hate emotes.

BUMP
Yes please. I don't care to communicate with 6 pre-fixed emotes. Even if there was chat, that would be turend off as well.
I'm there to get the win and get out , move on to the next game, not there to emote with my opponent.
No games are stress free my friend haha.
It isn't a dinner party.
