Mid range paladin is Ok, it's a nice and viable fun deck for both parties however Mysterious challenger should be a 5/4, if you compare it with Thurissan they have exactly the same effect except that challenger instantly plays what he discounts and there's no reason for it to be stronger stat-wise than a legendary card with the same effect
If everything lived, which is likely considering the 3 hp on the mana wyrm and the double taunts, that's 9 random damage, 2 from the mana wyrms first attack, 3 from the apptentice and 5 from the mana wyrms second attack.
If he drew a good 5+ drop from the portal the game is likely over here - worst Ive seen are boom, iron juggernaut, the mistcaller, prophet velen.... If not he can enjoy 1 mana flame cannons to clear the board with. Eventually if you do even catch up fireballs and frostbolts are there to pick you off.
You realize that's like 6 specific cards in the first 3 turns right? And they have to be going second? That is not actually a common start. Not like Paladin which is just Knife Juggler/Minibot -> Muster for Battle -> Piloted Shredder (or Blessing of Kings) and you literally can't come back because Paladins also have an insane late game. Tempo Mage has a terrible late game (other than Antonidas). If you get them down to no cards in hand they basically can't recover. Unlike Paladin which just goes "herp derp Divine Favor I have 5 cards in hand again"

If you're going to deem it ok to judge Paladins on a start that requires 2 legendaries coming just in time, their only 6 drop, not a single secret out of the 6-10 they keep in their deck without a single draw mechanic (note that you can't drop Muster AND Divine favor on the same turn) then mages can also have their god draw that doesn't use any 1 shot cards. Also unstable portal can be replaced by any 2 drop spell, like frost bolt.
And mages have a MUCH better recovery tactic than Paladins. If a paladin loses the board even once (say, you Divine favored rather than Shreddered or Dr. Boom didn't show up in time, and your opponent isn't still stubbornly trying to get a very greedy Control deck to work) you're doomed.
I'm not a paladin hater, but it's true that they have some of the best drop in the game. Shielded minibot is one of the best two drop, muster for battle is the best three drop in the game. Tyrion is the best legendary in the game. blessing of kings and truesilver on turn 4 are some of the best drop in the game. and dr.6 is just another one.
So,yes,i think paladins are a bit op atm. They have minions, they have weapons, they have buff, they have card draw, they have heals, they have secrets, they have EVERYTHING.
But i'm not whining. Actually i think that this is the road to follow for blizzard for the other class too. I mean, when i face a paladin i can face a midrange,a secret,an ebola,a dragon, ther is so much possibility and i think taht is really fun. I just want that the other classes have all this range of possibility.
Stop this guys, please... so many crybabies, it's not funny anymore...
@Dreamer - yes you are whining, you're complaining about paladins being OP, they aren't. All of the classes are fine and Blizzard has a balance department with tons of research and data on their game. Paladins sound like they have a lot but they have nothing more than the other classes have in other areas. Also Paladins don't have all the best drops in the game and are easily countered, mini bot loses to unstable ghoul, MC challenger loses to flare, sludge belcher loses to the black knight, boom loses to BGH and Tirion loses to owl. KT is a better drop on a full board than Tirion and troggdor is a better 7 drop then Dr. boom against freeze mage. They only seam like the best since a strong deck runs them all together. Mini bot is a liability if your opponent runs blood knight and muster for battle loses to ooze + wild pyromancer + spell or simply Wild pyromancer + sabotage to sweep the board clean and get a 3/1.
@Sherman - This 100 times yes! People need to L2P and quit complaining so much. The game is fine and fun enough. Complaint threads should really be moderator locked right away as they add nothing to the discussion about the game. If you aren't having fun with the game just don't play anymore, no one cares about the crybaby tears you spill on the way out...
The topic has been beaten to death and is everywhere on the general thread, go to an existing thread to post there. Additionally, this is a complaint thread and there are more than enough of them already. No one cares.
If blizzard ia going to make changes with MC, it will be a 6/6 for 7 mana to kinda krush this card. I just don't know why even you would not nerf this card to a 6 mana 5/5 or 4/4? I mean Aviana and Fizzlebang are also weakened until the beginning with stats worse than anything else. Secret paladin is also balanced without the MC but way stronger including that one. No reason to even push it. If they make any changes, nerf it to either 7 mana as you would like it or just make him a 6 mana 4/4. it will get buffed anyway so no reason to not do that (consider that fizzlebang even needs 8! Mana to get value in some chance).
Is it just me feeling so satisfied with everyone hating on Paladin since TGT?
I'm playing since april '14, Paladin is and was my favourite class from the start, even though it has been in a very bad spot for a very long time. I fought Miracle Rogues, Undertaker-Madness, Handlocks, Control Warriors, Facehunters, Mech-Mages, Patrons and all the other popular decks with my control and midrange decks, it was hard and frustrating at times, but it was all worth the effort. Paladin is in a very nice spot, and i really enjoy that.
(For reference, I am not playing secret Paladin decks and i do agree that Mysterious Challenger is too strong.)
Paladin is in a nice spot, and I think most people don't have a problem with that. The problem is that Blizzard is constantly taking away tools for anything that isn't a tempo, minion-oriented deck. So when it comes down to it, Paladin is by FAR and away superior to every other class, and they even have like 3 totally different decks that are all easily capable of Legend. Paladin can curve out insanely well better than any other class, and they have too many good drops on curve compared to all other classes, WITH way better synergy than all other classes.
Very unskilled players can pilot Secret Paladin to Rank 5 within a few days. I see Secret Paladin players make COUNTLESS fucking mistakes in matches, and they have so much to work with that takes virtually no thought that several mistakes in a row still sometimes doesn't stop them from winning a game. The only real way to beat them consistently is to make a deck more and more focused on countering that one deck. It's the same exact problem that has arisen from every other deck that has had to be nerfed in some way in the past, and it might be one of the most brainless ones to date.
Paladin can struggle in a match if an opponent takes board early. Most of their removal does not happen till 4 mana. I have lost games to priest playing a turn one cleric. If i play a 2 drop minion that does not have 3 power attack they will use my minion as a card draw engine with the cleric. Shaman can have a good game also if they get board early.
Paladins would be completely balanced as a class(outside of arena that is) if you removed MC from the game and made minibot a 2/1 imo.
Even if you take away the secrets package, regular eboladin was already a tier one deck before TGT and without patron warrior around I feel like the deck would still be overpowered as hell. Changing minibot's stats would make it so all 3 paladin archetypes(midrange, aggro and control) would be viable, but not overpowered in any way. By the way, I was an aggro paladin player for a long time before TGT, and I will happily be the first to acknowledge that without PW around, the deck is busted as fuck.
We get it blizzard, paladins needed a buff before GVG, but they don't need it any more. Now they are the most ridiculous class on hearthstone and it's time you take action.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
No wonder at the beginning when you first get the game the innkeeper says "I recommend Paladin"
I like to make cards and discuss game balance.
I enjoy when "No similar decks were found."

Just remember the good times!
Greetings.
A few things.
1. Dr.Boom is a neutral card.
2. Paladin still needs a solid one drop minion, and some kind of variant on the do 3 damage for 2 mana spell/weapon.
3. Frost mage and aggro druid are some options to counter secret pally.
