So I finally made legend for the first time, i don't usually have this much time so I figured I'd give it a real shot. I was in the camp that if I had more time I could do it easily because I always finish at rank 5 just by doing dailies, I was wrong. From 5-L everybody is very good and everybody plays strong decks, add in no more win streaks and you have one hell of a grind. Even if you play what are considered mindless decks, you really have to concentrate and not make mistakes and not everybody can do it.
I actually stuck with one deck from 5-L (which makes it more tedious to me) picking a deck that I know well and didn't have any terrible mu's in the meta I was facing which was mostly CW's, both Druid variations and secret pally with all types of hunters and mages sprinkled in. So old reliable, midrange Hunter did the job. Good luck to those still grinding. If I can give one piece of advice it would be stay focused and don't go on tilt. Take breaks after losses so you don't go on extended losing streaks.
Phew! Glad that's over and I'm glad I did it without spending a dollar on the game. Maybe I'll buy some packs to treat myself.
Contrats on making it to Legend for the first time! =D Now rock that Legend cardback and enjoy being legend my friend. =)

I am the same way, I've always been an altoholic and in HS I like playing all classes and tinkering with different decks. I'm glad I've made legend for the cardback but I enjoy the game much more when I can switch decks up when I want to keep things fresh. I never would have made it doing it that way though.
Also, thanks for the kudos everybody, I probably never would have done it without good people in this community imparting so much of their knowledge on me.
Before I hit legend, I thought I only needed more time and the mentality to grind. Turned out to be just as I thought. There was a pleasant feeling with the absence of the previous agonies, but there was also a kind of emptiness. A little bit of regretful of the time wasted, but at least I got the card back.
Probably not worthy of doing it again though. Farming for golden portraits is much more enjoyable.
I used a list very similar to JAB's. My only notable differences is I use 2x king's elek, 1x webspinner, 0x ram wrangler and for traps I used 1xexplosive, 1xfreezing and 1x snake. Also 2x hound masters and 1x shredder.

hey OP, i was wondering which midrange hunter deck you used?
I've been using SteveFrench's most recent midrange hunter deck and I am stuck between rank 3-5.
Also, how many hunters, in general, do you play against in the legend rank? any face hunters? midrange? hybrid?
I would like to know which hunter deck has the best chance of reaching legend
