I just had a bit of a shock realizing this is the first game I've seen where it could cost a couple thousand to get good
Welcome to F2P. Welcome to Card games. You'll find a lot more worse than this from here.
Though no, it doesn't take thousands to 'get good'. I believe it's marked at about $60 to, from scratch, have a top tier deck without playing a single game.
Though chances are, you'll need a few months to be a good enough player to use that deck to get to the top tier rankings, which meant you could've spent $0 and just grindied while gathering the skill.
You spend money or you spend time. Tak your pick. Nothing is free.
Relax, I've been on a bad luck streak too. After opening 2 golden legendaries in a few packs some months ago I basically only get "1 rare 4 commons" packs, not even golden cards... it's been like 2 epics and 1 golden common in 2 or 3 weeks of opening 1 pack per day at least.
I been very lucky the past week and a half with packs. I bought 3 packs this week with gold and got 1 pack from brawl. I got 3 legendary cards from those 4. 2 of them were repeats but that is just insane luck. My "heart of the cards" told me to get certain packs. It told me gvg and I got mogar the ogre. It told me tgt and I got trueheart for the second time. And last a classic set got me a second slyvanas. That is more legends than my 50 buck pre order. I am using my heart of the cards now.
Yeah. I feel kind of sick spending fifty bucks for next to nothing; I have to add that 110 cards were duplicates of ones I already have- and I don't have that many. I'm missing a lot.
I won't be doing that again in the foreseeable future. I'll just stick to gold, tavern, and arena
It is random i opened about 90 gvg packs and only got 2, but when i opened 40 tgt packs i got 5 legendaries and 2 of those are golden.F2p player here btw
Wow, 5% per pack. That's quite high. Are you sure?
From my math, the chances of pulling at least 1 legendary from 20 packs is 64.15%. For 40 packs, it's 87.15% For my average RNG, it's 0%.
This is based on 5% per pack if that's right.
For the people who mention that it's random, of course it's random, but on average, it will end up being these percentages. All the information you provide is merely experimental data.

That might be true, but you can spend less than $100 and get all the good cards. I've spent $90 and played tons of arena games.. In about 2-3 months I'll have every card I need (been playing since May, laddering since August).
Playing for several months. Of all the packs I've earned with gold I've gotten 1 legendary. Probably more than 40 packs easy. About 5 per week.
Actually bought 40 today with real money. I got 1 legendary.
So so is that the general average - 1 legendary per 200 cards?
It should even out to about half that, but it is random so it takes a lot of packs to hit the average.
Nothing doing, traveler.
A card is 1% to be legendary so a pack has a 5% chance of pulling one. So 1 in 20.
yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hmmm. I feel kinda screwed then.
Bad luck happens sometimes, I frequently go ~35 packs without a legend and then I'll get ~1-3 in the next dozen or 2.
I just counted my epics. 11 epics in 40 packs
does that sound about right?
That's a bit above the curve, since usually Epics show up in about 1 out of 5 packs.
Nothing doing, traveler.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

It's actually pretty random...
For me, over the last 2 years, it has been around 1:20 or so, ya.
I never got less than 1:30 and expect at least 1 if I get 30+ packs.
I have bought single packs and gotten 2 in the same pack more than once.
Nightblade Argent Lance Flame Imp
Argent Watchman Argent Squire Frost Giant
Aviana Hogger Snipe Sea Giant

Opened 2 legendaries in 5 packs today. Maybe that's why...
"Put your face in the light!" - Tirion Fordring
Yeah it is about 1 per 20, if you buy 40 packs its over ´90% chance to get atleast one
No it isn't.

I am another member of the 1 per 20 packs group. That is what I have found is my average. If I pull any more outside of that I consider it a good day!
