I love it when people play this card on turn 5. Today I had a game where someone played it turn five and I was able to burn off 12 of his cards my next turn before he decided to concede. I was playing my dragon priest deck against someone who was playing mech shaman. I played coin then followed it with Northshire Cleric, then Velen's Chosen and finished it with Shadow Word:Death to kill the Fel Reaver. It was glorious watching all those cards burn.

You do not truly know someone, until you fight them.....
I'm sure it's a great card, but isn't it normally played later in a game and not right away on turn 5? I mean, I know I got lucky having the SW:D in my hand to take it out, I could of been screwed if I didn't.

It's typically used in burn decks. They never planned on using the other 12 cards in their deck anyway since burn decks 'die' by then. Whether by actually burning cards or losing the board with you still alive, it's GG either way.
It feels bad to see that fireball get discarded, but it's no different from NOT playing fel reaver and conceding 2 turns later after never pulling fireball at all. It's the life of a face deck.

no, once it goes pass turn 6 you really dont want to play felreaver at all, think about it this way, you start the game with 3 or 4 cards depending on if you going first or second. but turn 5 you are about 8-9 card, almost a third of your deck is gone and that's not including card draws. later turn, its only better if you have drained your opponent's hand for the most part.
if your opponent hasnt drain out his hand by turn 5-6, i normally wouldnt play him unless if i can make sure i can win over the next couple of turn. but against most weenie rush deck, a fel reaver is pretty hard to take care of (sure, you can use your cards to mill the hell out of your opponent, but unless you are way ahead, chances are, you might lose out the race in the end), but pretty easily taken out against midrange and control deck....
I faced an aggro Druid played it on turn 3 with Innervate...against my Tempo Mage with Sorcerer Apprentice on board.
I got to say he got some balls but ...
after 2nd Sorcerer Apprentice, Arcane Intellect, Coin, Arcane Intellect, Mirror Image, Arcane Missiles, Frostbolt, Frostbolt (something like that) his entire deck is gone with 3 cards in his hand...he roped and left the game.
It's just a gamble. You might think you're so good because you happened to hold the answer, but there's a significant proportion of people who don't have SW:Death in their hand, so they have trouble dealing with the fel reaver. I mean really, going up against a mech shaman, would you keep SW:D in your hand? You'd more realistically be mulliganing for pain, whelps, etc.
I'm not sure if I'd run the fel reaver in a mech shaman deck, but the surprise factor might have been worth it for the other guy. I haven't seen fel reaver used effectively outside of the aggro druid recently. Being able to ramp out turn 3 fel reaver is pretty huge.
It's a bit hopeful to play it against priest, but pending on hand and board texture it might very well have been the right play. The risk of fatigue and temposhifts from cheap removal is obviously the reason the card is cheap.
People who say it only matters if you fatigue are technically correct, but obviously that is a very simplified analysis. All milling is a freeroll for your opponent, and thus matter. The profitabiliy of any play is assessed on its expected value, not specific outcome.
But obviously "risk of losing specific cards" don't matter. That your opponent can see what you lose (they can still, I think?) is a concern however.

I realize that this post I wrote might have come as discounting Fel Reaver, but that was not my intent. It is often a great and very powerful card.
I'm playing a druid deck that has felreavers, I use them when I got the cards it my hands that I need to win. I typically use 1 at turn 8 right before the 14 dmg Force of Nature+Savage Roar doesn't guarantee a win on the next turn but it does empty the opponents hand.
I like it when Fel Reaver gets to "Follow the Rules". Then you just burn them with whatever you have, and should they have silence, it's one less owl vs my minions.

You had 8 cards in your hand, playing a felreaver in that situation is stupid.
The reason Fel Reaver is not a good card, is not exactly the discards(althought they do matter!).
What the discard does, is limit Fel Reaver to fast decks only. If you use it in a midrangish, or control deck, the effekt will ruin you.
The reason it ain't great in fast decks is because It is just one big minion minion, with "just" good stats and nothing else. A fast decks, needs something to influece the board right away, like a charge, deal dmg to a minion, or something else.
On top of that it will oftentimes just catch that one hard removal that your enemy allready thought useless in his hand.
So all in all: He is too Slow for fast decks, and his effekt prevents him from being played anywhere else.
Fel Reaver IS a good card.
Otherwise why people play it, and reach legend with, in fast Shaman, Druid and Mage decks?
you didn't win that game because you burned 12 cards. you won because you had shadow word death which allowed you to deal with their board while developing your own board.
believe me, any kind of agro deck will NOT beat any kind of mid-range or control priest if it has to go down to the last 12 cards. by that point in the game the priest has way too many resources.

Fel reaver is an op card especially when it's innervated/mech warper etc. The discards don't matter unless the game goes into fatigue.

if a druid can coin innervate it out it is epic.. followed by a scilence
Yeah, turn 5 is normal. The earlier the better. If you don't have an answer to Fel Reaver it can wreck you quick

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Meta changes the moment you switch your deck.

I always have a big smile when I come across Fel Reaver decks while playing my mill rogue :)

my opponent played it on turn 1 (wp) following by mass aggro and finished me off with 2x savage roar on turn 6..

I never run Fel-Reaver I get salty when I have to burn cards. :3
