Nobody I know plays this either I never ever take invites ever only folks on my friend list are real life friends who still play wow and Diablo but won't entertain this for some reason the community can be pretty toxic and will only get worse over time.
The pack of cards quest is just crap to me and insta re roll it don't fret over that if this is the reason you ever add anybody.
I have a lot of people on my friend list that I don't know in real life. I have removed all the jerks from it (after beign insulted for no reason by most of them), and I enjoy chating with the rest, specially with two of them, and I really love talking about cards, hearthstone news, streamers, watching their matches and talking about whatever thing you are doing while playing hearthstone. The thing is, adding people to the list is not a bad thing, it is a bad thing if you are going to cry like a little baby each time an unknown person calls you a faggot from the other side of the world. Some people need to grow up, they are more childish than the people who insulted them in the first place (wich is wrong too, don't misunderstand me, but you can remove him with just a click of your mouse...).
I wonder where this people have been all his life, specially at High School... sigh...
I always have a response typed up and in my clipboard prior to adding anyone in case they flame me. That way I can cause some of my own butthurt before they unfriend. :)
Have you seen what is going on on twitch chat during NA/Euro world championship qualifiers? That really shows how stupid/immature/frustrated some people are. My advice is to never accept friend requests from players who just lost a game. If you need some people on the list for spectate quests or just not to feel lonely then post your battle tag in appropriate thread on this site. All people I added from here are really nice and even send you congratulations when you open a legendary.
I disagree, I added a lot of players after winning matches, and while some of them insulted me, others were very nice. Some people need to learn to see the positive side of things, not just the bad one.
If people friend me, I usually except because of the small chance that they might have something constructive to say. If they don't and decide to cuss me out I typically find it funny anyway, but if they do it helps both of us. I actually found a friend pretty early into starting hearthstone, and he and I (I think he's a he, I never asked) talk about HS, do the spectator quest for each other, etc.
Basically, when you accept that request expect them to be salty and cuss you out, so if s/he doesn't its a pleasant surprise. :)
I love it when people do that. It always gives me a big laugh. I had a guy add me and he said "you should buy a lottery ticket" because I had a 40% chance to win the game right there and I got it (I was likely going to win anyway).
If 40% is all I need to win the lottery than sign me up.
Well this happens from time to time, it might discourage u to accept fr requests, but it shouldnt, i know its upsetting, but just try to ignore and forget it. I dont know if u play(ed) any other MMO games, but it is 10000000000000000000000000000 times worse then in HS in many of them, so if this happened to u one time here, boy u would probably threw your PC out of window and never went online again if u played something like LOL or Dota etc :D
As long as there's been no apparent BM I usually accept a friend request after a game. Sadly I've run into many moments like the one that the OP unfortunately experienced. But every now and then you meet someone worth friending. I find the risk versus reward ratio acceptable.
That said, I'm really sorry for how the OP was treated. This is only a freaking game.

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
Oh another naive, oversensitive kid needs online "friends" to pat him on the back and say that he's fine as he is and everything's gonna be ok. There has been a ton of threads like this and all of them ended the same way - locked. Why? Because they're pointless, repetitive and the only conclusions are: world is full of aggressive people and you're just a crying little baby. One of the things defining an adult is the ability to not be bothered by what strangers are saying to/about you. I hope you'll grow up to that.
i don't know, the use of word like Faggot is a pretty serious offense these days. That will at least get him a ban for a few days.
Also, you get the right GM who has a friend, family member or is themselves gay they may take some extra actions on that kind of crap and they should.
Faggot:
a ball or roll of seasoned chopped liver, baked or fried.
a bundle of sticks bound together as fuel.
Wow that really is offensive being called a bundle of sticks...
And for the second part of your "wise" statement - the minority can never enforce their rules to the majority - that's how a tyranny is born and it always dies in violence. Locking/banning someone's account for calling a player "faggot" is a stupendously bad move and will lead to people leaving the game. Unless someone is making threats to you no action should be taken as the universal freedom of speech allows me to call you whatever I want especially online as long as I don't threat your health, life and possessions. Deal with it :)
Ok

Now make sure you be an adult here bc, that's: "One of the things defining an adult is the ability to not be bothered by what strangers are saying to/about you. I hope you'll grow up to that."

Talk about the Barren's chat. Or the trade/general chat in Ironforge.

There is no need for insults here. If you can't see the difference between beign insulted in a videogame where you can remove the other player with a click of your mouse (and never hear of him again in your entire life), and a forum that is made for people to talk about it, gather information to improve at it, for enjoyment or any other personal goal they could have, and a lot of other social things usually related to the game, were only moderators have some kind of control over other people actions, then you have a problem man...
Honestly, it's super common for players to pull that toxic rage request, and spam you with hateful commentary, as though we all aren't trying to win with a finisher, some being more common than others.
I've been on the receiving end of the end, it's nothing honestly, you can't let some keyboard warrior (probably like 16, considering he used the term "f@ggot") get in your head.
It's toxic, and it's unsettling, but just don't add people if you aren't ready for the rage. I find it rather funny, I also type rather quickly, so I engage them to get them angry.
Not everyone adds to rage, we've had this chat here before on Hearthpwn, some of us add people to Congratulate on successful combos, or to explain what they did wrong, and why that effected the game.

You win by not giving a shit.
Some people are dicks on the internet. Surprise.
Also, judging by your long, long, long intro to "some idiot harassed me for no reason" makes me feel like you're overthinking things.
Like who the hell even cares. Someone called a name on the internet, big whoop mate. You were right about sounding like a wuss.
And I'm sure anyone who's spent more than a day on the internet would know not to get discouraged by something as trivial as this.
I love it when people do that. It always gives me a big laugh. I had a guy add me and he said "you should buy a lottery ticket" because I had a 40% chance to win the game right there and I got it (I was likely going to win anyway).

I never accept friend requests after games to prevent flaming+unfriend. Maybe you can do the same and only invite new friends.

Dkng666 has a point. Words are only words, and they only have the power over you that you give to them. Especially online.
The use of a word is never a serious offense, and I wish we could get over that stupidity as a society.
On the other hand, nobody has a right to free speech on the internet either, it's not America.
Also, it's perfectly fine to have feelings. Yes, even for men.
Say "Wow" for RNG!
What incredible skill deck without a win condition do you play? Please, let us all know how much of a superior player you are.
