I'm a casual player that has been playing from season 1.
Never have been above rank 4, still about 80 ranked wins away from my first golden class. You get the picture.
I've never uploaded any thread on Hearthpwn before. But this is the only active HS community I know.
I was playing ranked game against a Priest as Druid.
Had him fairly low on HP, waiting to draw my FoN for the finishing combo (typical druid game as you know)
But I lost board control after 5~6 turns of drawing into something other than FoN.
And the priest proceeded to kill me with something similar to 2x Nightmare 1x Ysera Awakens combo.
And (here is the possible dumb decision I made) I accepted that opponent's friend request after the game.
I was expecting a dialogue similar to:
"Ayy, lmao dat combo, ggwp" and so on.
Because (since no one close to me IRL really plays this game) that's how I've added several friends I've met while playing the game.
I was either on the receiving or playing side of some freakish RNG play that, in turn, made me chuckle before adding some people and proceed to have a good laugh about it.
Instead I receive:
"Keep looking for that combo, faggot"
And then followed immediate unfriend.
I've come to learn that there is no viable way to punish anyone for this kind of behavior.
At first I told myself this was bound to happen some day, and I shouldn't be such a big wuss to get discouraged by this.
But I have to admit that I am.
Second thought that occurred was, what if little harassments like this persist and continue to discourage people?
The reason I fell in love with HS was theres really nothing to blame or flame about.
Either you made a dumb play, or the opponent made a dumb play, or it was dumb luck, or its the deck's strength.
AND ITS A GODDAMN CARD GAME WITH ELEVATOR MUSIC.
I've always had this impression that HS community's atmosphere could be defined by some words like 'calm,' 'mature,' 'civil'
There's always something to flame about, in every game lol.
People are just idiots. I don't accept friend requests from Random's unless we've literally just had a really good game and both have said 'Well Played' at the end because that indicates to me they're a good sport.

I can attest to that. If the emote conversation is good then the friend request should be good too.

Well I had similar things happen to me as I win games with net deck list *cough patron*. I like to think that those trolls are some 13 year old kids having a bad day from school (because he/she got rejected by his crush, or because he/she stubbed their toe). Their troubled pathetic problems make them lash out at you in a video game, no big deal. Just view receiving that message as a reflection of their petty lives, and move on.
If it does really bother you however, I might suggest being more careful in adding randoms.
Good luck, hopefully you can find that brat again on ladder, and crush him/her.
People that play hearthstone are the same kind of people that you can find in the real world (wow, mind blowing!, isn't it?), some of them are nice to you, others are indiferent and others are bastards or jerks. I don't understand how you found something so irrelevant so offensive and important... Of course, I don't do it. but It has happened to me a lot of times, sometimes that kind of comments make me laugh, other times I just take a breath and continue playing, but making a thread just because of that? C'mon man, where you have been living, under a rock?
If you decide to play Heroes of the Storm for example, a game like many others were insults are pretty common, what are you going to do? write a letter about that to the president of the United States?
I've learned to not accept friend requests from people on BNET because the only interaction you will have had with that stranger is a single match on the ladder. You can't get to know someone, to see them as a person, when you're too busy seeing them as a deck or a class. I'm sure most of the people behind the screen on the other end aren't total faggots, but when they topdick lethal with their cancer class, I don't care who they are, I just want them to leave me alone.
I hope you reported him to Blizz they keep logs of that stuff and you could have gotten your payback for that crap. It sucks to lose but being a dick like that is wrong and I do believe a comment like that may have gotten his account deleted if you reported him.
Screenshot would have worked too, Blizz has the ability to upload screenshots to their their tickets as well. Blizz is one company that would have definitely acted on that one.
well, if you think this is bad im sure you never played League of Legends or any other MOBA, what he did is polite and considerate if you compare to what those communities do.
Also, what happened to you is rare(i think) , i never had someone add after a match in any mode and ive been playing since naxxrammas was released

LMAO, are you serious? I suppose that they should ban most of the Heroes of the Storm players then... Just a warning is the right thing to do if he continues with that actitud several times, Blizzard is not that retarded, they are not going to loose customers because of that... sigh...

i don't know, the use of word like Faggot is a pretty serious offense these days. That will at least get him a ban for a few days.
Also, you get the right GM who has a friend, family member or is themselves gay they may take some extra actions on that kind of crap and they should.

Just play Heroes of the Storm or any Moba man, you will find a lot of more offensive things than that every 5 minutes...
Wait, what are you talking about? Some extra actions? Please, don't make me laugh... you can take some extra actions because of threats, not because of stupid insults...
All things internet have nothing to do with 'calm', 'mature', and 'civil'. If you have that idea, you are sorely misinformed.
If their comments contain any racial comments or foul language, just take a screencap and send it to Blizzard. I heard that these are ban-able violations.

Reminds me of the time I accepted a guys' friend request after an arena match with the intention of talking and laughing about the game together, only to get "GG FAGGOT YOU SUCK YOUR DECK IS SHIT GET REKT LOL FAGGOT UNINSTALL NOOB"
I think this is one the game's flaws. HS is labeled as a fun game, with a lot of rng to promote that.
However the problem is that unless you pay a considerable amount of money, the game is really grindy and the only way of grinding is to WIN. That's right, you MUST win (whether that is casual, ranked or arena) in order to advance through the game (buy packs, enter arena, reach legend).
Except for the tiny amount of exp for the class you played and the ''play X minions that cost Y'' quest, there is literally NOTHING else that rewards you for playing the game if you lose. What i mean is that losing essentially means a waste of time, and no one really wants to have his time wasted. That is why people get all salty when they lose.
Of course there are those people who will try fun decks or unconventional cards, but you won't see them in ranked. Also even though the argument ''it's just a game, play it to enjoy yourself and have fun'' is valid, how much fun can someone have when he gets his butt kicked all the time?
It's a freakin' CCG. What do you expect?

Hearthstone isnt a magical place that nice people play the game and enjoy it.
Hearthstone community is just a smaller amount of the same people that you meet in everyday life. And the majority of those people are douchebags... imagine those behind the safety of their pc.
I recently played Secret Paladin and after a pretty easy match against a Priest (he played only a few cards) he add me and called me a c***sucking fa**ot, bla, bla, bla... I just replied with: "Thanks! Have a nice day :)" and then he deleted me from his friendlist :D
Don't take something like that too serious, most of them just have a bad day or are just angry children who abuses the anonymity of the internet to talk shit ^^ Ignore that and just continue playing :)
Oh another naive, oversensitive kid needs online "friends" to pat him on the back and say that he's fine as he is and everything's gonna be ok. There has been a ton of threads like this and all of them ended the same way - locked. Why? Because they're pointless, repetitive and the only conclusions are: world is full of aggressive people and you're just a crying little baby. One of the things defining an adult is the ability to not be bothered by what strangers are saying to/about you. I hope you'll grow up to that.

Faggot:
a ball or roll of seasoned chopped liver, baked or fried.
a bundle of sticks bound together as fuel.
Wow that really is offensive being called a bundle of sticks...
And for the second part of your "wise" statement - the minority can never enforce their rules to the majority - that's how a tyranny is born and it always dies in violence. Locking/banning someone's account for calling a player "faggot" is a stupendously bad move and will lead to people leaving the game. Unless someone is making threats to you no action should be taken as the universal freedom of speech allows me to call you whatever I want especially online as long as I don't threat your health, life and possessions. Deal with it :)
