The only issue I have is that the keys were given away to the general public (and not just to fansites, etc.) as codes instead of being awarded directly to the accounts. This enables the whole e-bay thing.
That guy's posts are deleted, shame I didn't maek a screenshot. But this is what he was saying: He made ~300 bnet accounts using Fake PC Specs, got 6 keys from opt in. And he was one from many people doing that. Seeing how small nubmer of people told on forums that they got key in that wave, this post seems very true.
I think its pretty clear at this point that unless you run a fansite or are a popular PC game streamer, your chances of getting access to the closed beta are extremely slim. Everyone should just expect to wait for open beta and consider anything earlier a miraculous gift.
If that guy is not spreading lies, he made a lot of money :S Since I saw some Hearthstone beta keys/account being sold for like 150-200 dollar, it's rediculous that it happens, but it happens :( Blizzard should not spread keys at the start to be honest to prevent people from selling keys. Sure it's ok to give them to fansites and streamers, but when the beta is still fresh, they should only give them to people with a Battlenet account with atleast one recent title (WoW, SC2, D3). People won't just sell their account with one of these games attached to it. Just my 2 cents :)
Yeah, my opinion is that, the few first waves shouldn't no matter what give keys to new accounts/"clear accounts" because otherwsie this happens. But now it's too late to fix this. It's pretty sad to see that fail made by 'experienced' company like Blizzard though.
Every time there is a Blizzard closed beta there are tons of Battle.net accounts for sale on e-Bay and forums, so not much difference between sending keys and flagging accounts.
That's because most of those accounts don't have games attached to them. I can't imagine someone selling their main account that quickly. Unless that person was tired of his account ofcourse. But the chance of selling accounts would drop.
Lol I made a thread linking to the reddit post on the official forums and it got deleted. So not only are they screwing it up and fucking over loyal customers, they're also covering it up.

Covering it up? I would be more inclined to believe that there was some sort of violation of the "code of conduct", as is often the case.
So what if someone makes multiple accounts to get multiple keys? They are likely giving the keys away so people get in the beta anyways. Personally I hate getting into a beta solo. Wish I had thought of this, I could have gotten a few keys for friends too. If this is bad then they also shouldn't give out extra keys to fansites for contests and such too. Same difference.
It's not a failure. There are a lot of people that are butthurt over a beta where all their data will get wiped in a couple of months.
This.
It's just a beta, and the whole point of it is to test the card balance / ensure the game is running smoothly. It's not like a super secret club and people are getting left out because they aren't cool enough. I don't understand why you would buy a beta flagged account anyways, they said everyone who signed up WILL get in at some point. You do not get ahead because everything will be wiped and credited. If you want to be getting the $50 in credit that Johnny is getting who has had his account since the first wave, just spend $50 once you get in.
You have around 2000 guys who are getting angry and perhaps you lose half of them. And you have (according to stream watcher numbers on all the bad streamers, and to be honest, almost every streamer is super bad) like 100,000 people that are now learning about the game with joy.
Right, Blizzard is a capitalist company, which is in game industry.
If it wasn't profitable to act this way, they would have already changed it.

I think you're missing the reason why people want into beta. IMO it's not to get ahead of others. It's to have fun playing the game. When there's a game I want to play or a movie I want to see I go get the game day one or see the movie at the midnight premier. I don't want to wait around when I could be enjoying something. So, someone setting up multiple accounts lowers our odds of getting into the beta and having fun. That's uncool.
Also, even if you don't get to keep your progress from beta, you do still learn how to play and start learning the cards. So, you do get an advantage from playing in beta.

Inb4 flame on me - It's not mine thread on reddit, just found it.

That's why new beta system failed. They should keep checking accounts eligible, not sending keys. So here goes your beta :)
That is pretty disappointing. I refuse to stoop to those levels to get a key. Which only means I'll be left out in the cold. gg Blizzard.

I'm going to assume that anyone claiming to get 6 keys in a limited wave, speaking on the internet, is lying through his teeth.
If you see a bad post on the forum use the report function under it, so I or someone else of the moderation team can take care of it!
I totally agree with http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1l8v70/where_the_beta_went_off_the_rails_or_how_not_to/

Yeah, people were expecting about 1k keys, and saying it would be about 1% chance of getting one key.
But looks like it was many less keys, and 500 from FB.

Probably the don't want to admit they failed. Would you liek to admit that you failed something so much? :P

Its a beta for testing ,not early access......
No key clue X((((
