Or YOU could just learn that not everyone thinks/feels/acts the same way as you do.... "Just sayin"
I've been addicted to games plenty so I know EXACTLY how it feels...I used to grind wc3 ladder top 100 all night even though I had school the next morning. The reality is that you need to learn to control your impulses in anything or you will just not be able to function as a normal human being. The fact he can come here and post for "help" when it's pretty obvious he knows exactly what the issue for is more a cry for help suicide than slicing down the veins so their's no coming back. So "just sayin", either put your money where your mouth is or go to a shrink for help.
Hearthstone addiction is about as real as marijuana addiction, it's just behaviorial compulsion that's easy as **** to change IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO CHANGE IT.
LOL. I knew when I wrote the post that there were bound to be a few asshole responses. What's impressive though is that the vast vast majority have been thoughtful and helpful.
Assholes are generally in the minority. Which is nice.
It's funny cause you call me an asshole for telling the truth. There is nothing physically wrong with you except that you have developed a compulsive, all consuming habit to play HS. And really your the only one who can change that...
So like I said, grow a pair, get off the ****ing hearthstone internet site and get yourself some real ****ing help rather than crying to a bunch of hearthstone addicts about your Hearthstone addiction. Seems pretty black and white IMO..
Sorry but I'm not the kind of guy to sugarcoat when it's much better for the person in the long run to say it straight. My cousin is just like you and spends 1000$ on games compulsively, for years we baby him to stop but nothing changes.
Listen man -- it's not the CONTENT of what you are saying that is the problem. It is the WAY you are saying it. Your TONE. Your MANNER . You just come across as a jerk, plain and simple. No one is asking you to sugarcoat anything ... but when you roll up in here with a "why don't you learn basic self-control like everyone else, it's a fucking game" -- you present yourself as a DICK. You basically have no bedside manner. Whereas I have a problem that I can fix myself (as you are so eloquently saying), you have a character flaw that cannot ever be fixed. You will be an asshole/dick for the rest of your life. That type of thing has no cure.
For the record -- I'm not "crying" to anyone and I'm certainly not spending 1000$ on anything. I have no clue where you're getting that idea. My post was merely an outlet for me to vent a little bit. I have the right to do that if I want.
Good luck to you.
You know why I come across like a jerk? because I'm sick of people posting these threads asking for "advice". The solution is pretty simple and tbh if you come here for help your in the WRONG place, simple as that. If you let your HS addiction get as far as you suggest do you have the mental willpower to actually do the repetitive ass ideas that people have been posting?
I'm not daying you don't have the right but don't tell me I don't have the right to tell you MY opinion about what would actually help you(which would probably be some soul-searching, deleting hearth and a shrink in that order).
I have found Habitica.com to be useful in keeping up with daily good habits and eliminating bad habits (I never was good at flossing every day until I signed up, for example). It uses the principles of video game addiction to actually help you be productive. Just to get an idea of how it works, here's some of my setup:

Just quit. Hearthstone is not something that is more important than your life. Blizzard has a unique talent at making games that are EXTREMELY addictive, such as wow. My dad played wow for 4 years, and during those years I barely knew him. I was 8, and I could't play with my dad because he was playing a stupid computer game. He missed family events and reunions. He got really chubby and out of shape. Then he turned his life around. He started by practicing his religion more often. Then, he started to run and train. 8 months later he had gotten his life on track and ran the iron man, which is 2.4 miles swimming, 160 miles cycling, then 26 miles running. I'm proud of him, and he's a great role model to me. He never plays video games anymore, except for an occasional hearthstone game. He is way happier than when he was grinding his time on a stupid game.

All this guy wants is some help. He's scared and doesn't know what to do. Cut him some slack and show some compassion please.
lol you cancelled social engagements? dude, listen. just go out and drink w a friend. yea HS is kinda fun but theres no way its more fun than going out. just put a mirror right next to a computer monitor and ask yourself when you look into it: "do i look like i have downs right now?" after playing HS for an hour. if the answer is yes call up anyone. and drink as much as possible.
He's trying to quit an addiction, and you want him to get drunk? Do anything EXCEPT risky things. Drunk people do some crazy things that could lead to prison or death.

playing hearthstone isnt an addiction its the result of not getting out in the world. uhhh yea drunk people do crazy things thats what im telling him to do. EXACTLY. if he goes so far as to die from drinking then so be it at least he was happy in the end.
Hey Doc from my POV , rank 5 to legend are good player , meaning that u r one of them . If legend Rank it's really that important to u , then maybe u should try other way , just play until u reach one more rank per day and stop when u r lost one game . There's an old zen saying , which says that , if ur destination is far , then walk , don't run . by ur 1st post , seems like u r running , and u risking everything in the process , just take it slow , and i believe u will get it .
If this is real, then u should seek help not at gamers forum, but at some support group (like AA) or ask a friend or family to help u with your addiction. I have a very hard time believing ppl that they r honest about such issues when they write it on forums like that, i mean what possible answer can u rly hope to get? We will tell u to go see therapist, get help from family/friends in best case or ppl will just laught at u or troll u and if u rly are sincere, it might hurt u even more. Mby its cause ppl affected by such psyche state doesnt know better, but i just cant see much honesty in it and see just a cry for attention with some sob story, sorry.
Btw after i read how u act and how often u play, it seems wierd, that u would have spent so much time writing this little story of yours, instead would just play HS in a first place lol. But mby thats your first step, u took time to do something else :)
I'm in the same place as you. I was so active doing other things before.
I've had this happen to me before. Halo and Warcraft 3. But those were times in my life when I could afford to waste time. But I'm a father now. I really need to quit.
I avoided playing WOW because I knew I could never stop. I had literally 3 friends dissapear into that game. Game addiction is real.
And I've made legend. Twice. Making legend wouldn't be the end. Because it resets every month. It's a marketing stategy and we are being milked.
i don't get how can people no-life HS.i mean,i have been quite addicted to many different games in the past, but when playing HS i just end up stop playing once my tilt meter reaches a certain point, which lately is usually after around 2 or 3 hours of gameplay max.

WoW was the worst IMO, My cousin went down that morphine trip for 5 years. Would rush home from work literally everyday and grind till 3am, we would go on trips and he would do guild raids still, and get mad if he couldn't.
one thing that is more dangerous about hearth and other new games is the money aspect can lead these people to spend exorbitant amounts of money.
Evil can only be beaten either with good or even bigger evil. So my suggestions are:
1) Delete Hearthstone, OR
2) Visit a psychiatrist, OR
3) Become a drug addict.
I'd personally reccomend deleting the game and forgetting about it forever. Or visit a psychiatrist, at the very least. See if he will give any good advices.
i recommend number 3. it's quite fun. but watch out you have to pick a good drug. heroin ain't nice, but cocaine is. choose wisely.
you can also be a drug/alcohol addict and play hearthstone. Downside is you need a lot of money for it...
I'm currently struggling to live this lifestyle, i'll let you know how it works out
I also started to get addicted. I play every day I get a chance. But when I feel it's starting to take over intake a break. I been playing since day one and I'm not interested in legend rank. I guess that's how I stop from becoming a complete addict. The highest I have reached is rank 11. But I do have fun every time I play. I like to analyze my match and make improvements. Just take it easy.

Oh man, funniest thread of replies ever. You guys win the internet, but um... following this advice might make you lose at life (although the graphics suck anyway).
Been there, done that, didn't work out all that great for me.
Hearthstone is still frustrating with or without drugs.
Sorry man but you made me laugh.Someone who cant handle, resist a game and someone who is asking for advice at gaming forum just dont deserve anything...I just cannot imagine you in real...wow...you are the reason why other people think that gamers are weirdos....just tellin...i feel so sorry for you and that waste
and the best thing you can possibly do is make a post with the specific purpose of putting people down right?

Read the whole thing, can't buy any of this. Too exaggerated, too feasible to be true.
Besides, an addiction to a 2D card game? C'mon man... <snip> see how this game covets your wallet more than anything.
I'm currently struggling to live this lifestyle, i'll let you know how it works out

It takes three months to break a habit, the only way to do it is to find something else that's less addictive
