On EU from season start to rank 4, I have met 3 patrons. No, I don't think their OTK with frothings is fun, but the small presence of them makes it much less of an issue.
Different Meta if you're playing on NA, EU or Asia and depending on the rank. It's pretty much always like that. However once the meta snapshots and power ranking will be more advertised it might start to look every where the same.
For the record i just started to ladder on EU today and from Rank 17 to 10 i've met exclusively Paladin Secrets and Mid Range Flare Hunter with far behind a few Combo Druid just like myself. As always it's Aggro fest all around lol
The only reason Patron is less popular right now is that they didnt get any new cards in the expansion, and everyone wants to play with new toys. Patron will be more popular again towards the end of the season when everyone starts focusing on rank.
i think the biggest problem of patron is the capitain, who gives charge, okok, it is not very op but when used with grim patron and the berzerker is otk, you don't need just to do nothing, you just need to don't let your opponent puta minion with taunt on the board and its otk.
I never thought PW needed a nerf and I especially don't now that TGT has been released. I see far fewer (NA) than I have since its inception.
There have been new studies and data released that show that it was never as strong as peoples' common misconceptions. I believe it was liquid that put it out, I'll update this with a link when I find it again. I believe that it is your mind playing tricks on you. When you lose to a huge combo that feels like you couldn't do anything about, it sticks in your head more, but if you track your games you'd see that it's win rate is far from op. Add to it that it does have an extremely high skill cap and even pros misplay the deck and I think it's absolutely fine.
Edit: As promised here is the link, it was still in my browser. Good read for the dataheads among us.
Kinda agree, that discard should absolutely be a thing in hearthstone, however it needs to be made careful since its propably even stronger than the draw mechanic.
Were basically just waiting the point where OTHK decks will become so strong that their auto win each game. And when that happens the game is dead. burst combos need to be tuned down in this game due to the lack of options to have influence on the enemys turn.
Patron won't be nerfed, it's too high of a skill cap to play. It's not like undertaker where you simply played cards without strategy. Can Patron beat anything? Yes, but only if it's played by the right person, which is what makes it a good deck.
On topic, people should stop complaining about Patron and learn to play around it...I mean, half the time i get an OTK from a losing position is off a Thaurissan trigger on Double Frothing + Warsong and at least 1 Whirlwind effect (unlikely) AND it requires my opponent to overextend on the board for NO reason. Played a dragon priest who dumped his entire hand when his board had lethal the next turn w/o any new minions...and i got past his taunt and 36 to face off of double frothing, thanks for having 6 minions on board when you only needed 2 =).
About the 3/2 Discard, Blizz has at one point stated they wanted Hearthstone to be "fun' and forcing discard on your opponent just felt less "fun" for the opponent (note, choosing to discard yourself off cards like Soul Fire is perfectly reasonable because it's a deck choice), and about that card ^ itself...that's literally insane...a 3/2 for 3 that discards...MAYBE for 4 mana or a 3 mana 2/1...but as a 3 mana 3/2 he's way too strong. Great art though.

This isnt accounting for the fact that every competitive deck on ladder and in tournaments was designed to matchup against Patron. I assume you noticed that every non-aggro deck had a Harrison Jones and/or ooze? Its crazy that tech cards became staples in every deck.
Anyway, the biggest problem isn't the strength of the deck. It's the fact that it's boring and frustrating to play against. I don't really care if it has a 70% win rate or a 30% win rate. I don't want to play against it anymore.
Currently, it seems that Patron isn't played less, which is probably what they wanted with TGT.
So now all we have to do is wait until it has been exactly one month after TGT has been released, and see them release a nerf to deck.
Otherwise, we'll just start an outrage until they finally succumb to the community's wishes.
Took about a month for Deathrattle Hunter to be nerfed after an expansion too, right?
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
So we still have to wait roughly.... two weeks before we can start complaining about Blizzard not giving us a PW nerf.

It's very different here on NA.

I don't think Chillmaw is teh answer that they thought it was.
I'd like to see something like this. Not only good for Patron but good tech vs. any combo deck.

This season, I've run into more Patron Warrior than I ever had. In the past, it was a 1-in-10 thing. Now it's more like 1-in-3.
That said, I've been teching everything I can to beat PW. And then of course it's some other bull.
Priest (60) / Warrior (49) / Hunter (47) / Mage (45) / Warlock (36) / Druid (35) / Shaman (34) / Paladin (33) / Rogue (19)
Tell me what deck wouldn't run it, this is garanted 2 for 1 with a very low cost and tremendosly good stats for battlecry.
Yeah i think this card is really OP. Either lower stats of higher mana cost. I think 4 mana would be good.
Haven't Blizzard stated that they are totally against discard / resource denial in HS?

Yeah, YOU have faced 1. Besides, most patron players are higher rank than that anyway.
